Hi Jim, I did one like that several years ago after seeing it on the IAP website. One thing I came up with to make it easier to set the transmission for slims was once I had one installed where I wanted it I measured the length and cut a piece of wood to that length. Now when installing a transmission I hold it up beside the pen barrel and it stops the press at exactly the right spot. Works for all pens using the 7mm transmission. No more having to check to see if the transmission is deep enough.
@@JimRodgersWoodturner Tube length doesn't matter because you are measu ring from the tip to the end of the transmission. A longer or shorter than normal refill would change things but I've only ran into that once and I just set it aside for my own use rather than reset the transmission for it because that would throw it off when the recipient of the pen had to change the refill.

I thought of that also; but still don't trust the kit manufacturers' tube lengths.
