    OMG finally! Saw this guitar for the very first time when you guys played in a small venue in Ghent Belgium with Spineshank back in 2003 I think. The guitar was just standing there, don't think you even used it for the gig. But been intrigued by this guitar ever since. Thanks for making a dedicated video for this one.

    Great video as always Rob. I worked at ESP from 2003-2006. One of the techs had an LTD 7 string that I believe was yours that you sent in because of a broken headstock. It had the see thru finish in blue if I remember correctly. They sent you a new guitar. Is this the one that replaced it and I was wondering if you recall the story on how the headstock got broken. Thanks for all these great videos.

      Awesome Troy! It was see thru green! An MH-307. I'm pretty sure that one night, Matt and I had an on stage, head-on-collision, where we both broke our headstocks in one foul swoop. I'm pretty sure I still may have it! I appreciate you tuning in!

    Sometimes I’ve noticed spacers underneath the nut. Usually a piece of slim cardboard of some kind. Also, I put a cheap air compressor underneath my bench. I had noticed way too many clients coming in to record, and they haven’t changed their strings/drumheads, equipment looks like it was on tour,etc. I get a lot of use out of the compressor to say the least. Now I just do most of the setups for them, work it into the recording cost. Sick guitar btw!

    I’m 99% sure that teal Ibanez was an S7420. Those are fairly sought after these days. Still got it? Absolutely love the ESP, I’ve been drooling over that on the ESP custom forum for at least 15 years. One thing, and I think I’ve mentioned this on a past video you’ve posted, every now and then you should really take all the strings and bridge off and polish the frets. You can use 0000 steel wool, Stew Mac has fret erasers, or you can even use an automotive chrome polish. Unless you have stainless frets, which didn’t become common til a couple years ago, the nickel oxidizes from sweat and moisture in the air. It makes a big difference on bends, especially with the unwound strings. That’s why brand new guitars always feel so smooth to play. It’s a bitch to do it, but totally worth it. Actually, as I’m watching the way you block the bridge you wouldn’t even have to take off the bridge. Try it out if you’re ever bored. It will totally 🤯. Hope all is well Rob, thanks for all the great content.

    • @RobArnoldWorld
      @RobArnoldWorld  2 роки тому +1

      It' really only occurred to me recently that I should probably seek out a proper fret dressing.
      No frets on any of my guitars have ever been worked on, and so they're probably due!

      @@RobArnoldWorld Wow man, that’s kinda wild. I’ll bet your axes all have some miles on them, but that just shows you how stout ESPs are. Do you rotate through your collection a lot or do you have a favorite you usually stick with?

    • @RobArnoldWorld
      @RobArnoldWorld  2 роки тому +1

      @@mcoon1987 I would say I generally use the same two or three for whatever I'm doing. And then once in awhile I need a "special tool" for a job, like a 7 string, or a guitar with an Evertune, or a guitar in E, etc. I'm a creature of habit, so when I get one that's feeling good, I'll generally stick with it until it's not!

    Those are some low string hole posts on the headstock. What is the purpose of those? I'm guessing to get the strings at a tighter angle, so that they sit in the floyd locking nut more evenly? I have a couple floyd guitars where the strings do not sit evenly on the locking nut, and it causes them to go flat when I tighten the clamps.

    Such a badass guitar brother...
    Only thing i would change where it mine would have been i would have changed the ESP logo to the script logo in sted of the block letter... Letteraly the only thing...
    On another note:
    Wee all have our prefrences when it comes to string gauges and all that and i and know you like your 11-60 for 7s. But if youll take an advise from an old guitar tech, when i strong up my own and my freinds guitar up for drop A, my own prefence has been a standar 9-42 set for the E to E and the drop A i used a 68. That way all strings are pretty even. One is not harder or softer to bend than the rest.
    That just what i like, but i hope that it mite inspire you to try something new some day.
    Love the vids brother.

      Hey you know I might try that man! One thing I've never liked about seven strings is that the bending feels so different to me than it does on a 6. It's stiffer, and not as smooth, and it's always made be uncomfortable. Perhaps a lighter gauge is just what I need? If I end up trying it out, I'll let you know! Cheers!

      You are using the same gauge of strings both for your drop C and your drop A...
      The thicker strings you use for a specific tuning the harder the get to bend.
      Im a ,9 gauge guy for E standard. That might be to bendy for someone like you when youv been use to 11s for E for so long but i hope i atleast have put some ideas to your mind ;)

    • @RobArnoldWorld
      @RobArnoldWorld  10 місяців тому

      I would say that if you can determine where the buzz is coming from, which I'll assume is closer to the headstock, then you'll need to sliiiiightly loosen your truss rod, giving the neck a little more relief. And often times, if your relief is where you like it, just a minor adjustment will remedy your problem. But keep in mind that with a nice low action, some fret buzz is inevitable in my opinion.
      If the buzz is happening higher up on the fretboard, you may want to consider raising your bridge slightly.
