Yeah my cockatiel is like a boomerang too. Sometimes you just let her fly to its cage, but she would turn back midway and land on the other shoulder instead.
Pikachu is the most sweetest little thing. I could be having the worst possible day and I'll get cheered up every single time. Reminds me a lot of my Lutino Cockatiel Cookie who sadly passed 8 years ago. You never forget these precious memories. You're such a good dad. God bless.

IT FOLLOWS ME ALOT-
Oh the good ol’ flock call.. it’s my favourite sound to come home to after work. I head straight to them for cuddles and kisses and scratches.
Same! I come home from work on my bike, they see me coming by and start calling. I just call back!
My neighbours must think I am out of my mind 😄
My Beaker does all of this except preening me. 4/5 isn’t bad I guess. These birds are seriously the cutest.
I never got the head bowing from cockatiels back then, but I did get just about everything else. One of them loved me so much they'd start doing a little back and forth pacing in their cage when they'd see me coming. They also knew my voice and would start calling out for me or if they heard my room door open or close.
My Cockatiel does everything in the video to me but he is a bit aggressive actually like he does not like fingers and ears for some reason.
The back and forth dance in the cage and starting to talk when they saw me were things my cockatiel, Zack, would do! He just died last month after 25 (!) years and I miss him like crazy.

@@WendyCR72 yea what they said. I lost my little girl last year after unfortunately less time than you had, but it's the worst pain I've ever dealt with and it isnt easy for sure. Stay strong, your friend would want you to be happy. Our buddies love us and we owe them that -- to treasure the times we had the privilege of sharing with them.
I dunno I think that preening human hair is more of a fun and entertainment for them than actually caring.

My male cockatiel has a love/hate relationship with me. I get the 'love wings' from him when he 1st sees me in the mornings, he does the 'love wings' a lot when I go over to his cage. I get the flock call so much when I'm out the room. But when I let him out and the time comes to put him back in his cage his behaviour becomes dominant and hateful, wanting to bite me. So when he won't go in his cage I let my budgie out to annoy him and it usually works in helping getting my cockatiel to go back in his cage, haha 😁

I was looking at animals at the pet store the other day (waiting for the checkout line to get shorter) and I was talking to a cockatiel to kill time.
It seemed to like me I thought, but since it was literally the only time we've interacted, I had my doubts. As I walked away, it did this weird call. After watching this video, it was the flock call!
Honestly, I would love to have one, but I lack the time to really keep one happy. Plus I'd probably be allergic to the poor thing.

Our cockatiel that's already sadly dead was preening my mom's hair and protected her.
I thought my cockatiel liked me very much that he wouldn’t abandon me and we put him on the grass out the front and my homie can’t fly real well but he decided to just fly down the street, very depressing. We did get him back though. :)

My birdie will bow, but then disapproves of my preening and will fuss at me. Then 5 seconds later - bow again. Seriously! You don’t like my preening so what the heck lol

Even if i put it down, it walks to me, gets on my legs and poops...
If it bows its head towards you for pruning, it is evident it accepts you. It might be afraid of your hands or fingers though. It might want you to prune it with the mouth instead.
I got my female cockatiel yesterday, and I am not fully sure on it's perspective on me. When I sit by it's cage it tends to be pretty relaxed and grinds it's beak, but it does not do the same when I attempt to handle it. It has also made absolutely no sound yet

My cockatiel liked to sit on my breast, when I were reading books. He got frustrated, clipping out triangular bites from the books or biting me in the lip. Now that he got hes wife, everything setteled as normal. Nesting several times, having younger birds, sold off. Now setteling at age, to shit and nibbeling everywhere, and on anything with hes old wife, 18 and he 19.
An Extremely good flyer, the best of all. She is quite poor in the flight but reasonably good.
She can end up flying into a window-pane or some obstacle, crash to the floor, he never do, whatsoever.
He can do stunts in the flight, like falling through a partially closed door, wings retracacted, rising to the ceiling with wings extendended, and then land on the floor or table, just with some strong flaps with the wings in the landing.
He can jump from a normal table to the floor, with just one single flap with hes wings in the landing.

Ok so I have two cocktails that live together they will preen me, sit on me, let me give them kisses and eat from my Hands but as soon as I try to touch them they fly away. I’m not sure if this is because I have two living together so they don’t really need me? It’s almost like they aren’t scared of me but the are scared of my hand. Any tips?
