+based2kgod sorry for me jumping to huge conclusions. I meant by my comment is that if MJ and Olajuwon were in the same team and the team build around both players wouldve been the GSW with Lebron James. It might have been the most exciting era of all time, but maybe the MJ and Olajuwon duo will be the superior and reigning champions in the west.
MJ and The Dream would be a cheat code. Hakeem's quieter personality is a perfect fit for Jordan's alpha dog character. Jordan's cuts would open the defence like butter and position Olajuwon for easy buckets. MJ's assists would skyrocket. If Hakeem posts up, MJ could loiter on the wing for easy kickout mid ranges or cutting layups. You'd have to double and triple team either of them at a time. The game would be unplayable. And that's just on offense. Defensively both are juggernauts. Hakeem would give the rim protection presence the Bulls never had. MJ would be picking pockets, locking down the perimetre players. If these two played together, the rest of the league should just retire lol.
Jordan would have gotten a lot fewer points. Hakeem distribute the ball from the inside so well that his perimeter players going 2 deep took turns having 30 point nights for several years.
Awesome 👍 I saw a comment three years ago here but Clyde Drexler was also offered in the trade so you'd have a rookie Jordan rookie Hakeem Olajuwon teammate in college
We could have had the best center of all time, the best shooting guard AND player of all time, along with a top 10 and even arguably top 5 shooting guard of all time
You seem to forget, it wasn't just a trade for the 2nd pick to get Jordan. Portland threw Clyde Drexler in as part of the trade to get Sampson. Houston could've had Jordan, Clyde and Hakeem. 10-12 championships at minimum if everyone stayed healthy.
This combo would basically have annihilated all opposition for a decade at least. They would have won at least 10 rings. You know why? Both are double and triple team threats. Can you imagine that? This basically means the rest of the 3 teammates are OPEN for shooting 3 pointers or mid-range shots. I don't know about Hakeem being an all-time great center but I do know this. He dominated and frustrated ALL hall of famer centers during that era. Imagine nullifying the likes of Shaq's effectiveness. This basically makes the Magic a cakewalk. Meanwhile MJ is free to do what he does and that's scoring and leaving Hakeem to add points, rebounds, steals and blocks. That's why even MJ picks Hakeem for center if he were to make his own 5-man team. While you say say their scoring sweet spots are similar and they will each into each other's stats, they actually complement each other because both care more about winning than padding their stats. Between scoring 30s vs getting another championship ring, which one do you think both of them would pick? Two double/triple threat players on the same team would have been crazy.
Please make a new version of this video that takes Clyde Drexler into account. As many others have said, the trade was Drexler and the #2 pick for Sampson.
Hakeem , Jordan,Drexler,Otis Thorpe, Kenny Smith. Drexler was offered in the Sampson trade. Vernon Maxwell, Sam Cassell, & Robert Horry off the bench. What an unbelieveable team. Almost forgot Mario Ellie. Wow this video brought back my childhood thank you. In around 96 they could of got Rodman cheep like Chi town did. I think 10 titles, we know of 8 in a row & could of squeezed at least 2 more. Hakeem & Jordan played till 02-03 season. Jordan may not of retired, at least not twice or three however you look at it.
A far more likely possibility which was actually a hair trigger away from being done, was the Pippen -Olajuwon trade in 1992. Or so I remember from that time. The Bulls secured Kukoc's rights, and Krause thought he'd replace Pippen, and so there was some deal on the table. There was a reason Krause was stalling on Pip's contract extension and trying to sign Kukoc. in the end though Kukoc stayed in Europe, and Krause couldn't get the deal done. Otherwise for that 1992 season it would have been MJ and The Dream on the Bulls, with Kukoc replacing Pippen's role.
They could have traded sampson and lucas to portland for clyde and the #2. Then turn around and trade clyde to chicago for the #3 and use that to take john stockton. 🤔 Jordan, Hakeem, and Stockton.....scary
I just read below that the original trade off was including Drexler in addition to the pick that would have landed Jordan. Oh the hindsight is too painful to imagine for Hakeem, Jordan, and the Clyde the glide all together.
Drexler was no slouch obviously. He even came a breath away from a quin double, having had 8 steals and 7 blocks in one game in addition to the triple. The three on the same team would have been a match up problem for anyone.
I actually heard that the trade that would have happened at the '84 draft was going to send Clyde Drexler and the #2 pick to Houston for Ralph Sampson. If that happens, the Rockets potentially rival Boston in 1986.
that trade also included Clyde Drexler. so the Rockets would've had a BIG 3 . Drexler. Jordan. & Dream. 10+ titles. '86🏆'88🏆'90🏆'91🏆'92🏆'93🏆'94🏆'95🏆'96🏆'97🏆'98🏆'99🏆 GTOAT
A star big man was everything in the 90s. Hakeem had the advantage and yet he only won two titles when Mike was away. Mike won 6 in a decade dominated by big men with Cartwright and Longley as his center. Hakeem also needed Drexler back in 95.
You actually forgot a player in the 84 Trade...the Blazers actually offered Drexler and their #2 Pick for ROY Ralph Sampson. So the Rockets would have had Dream, MJ, and Glide in 84-85 for the next 15 years!
Other than Sampson, the 87 Rockets also lost a lot of valuable support peaces due to the NBA's cocaine epidemic including John Lucas, Lewis Lloyd, and Andrew Wiggins' dad. Also, the 87 Lakers added not only A.C. Green, but Michael Thompson who was a physical center and Kareem's backup. Given that the Rockets supporting cast fell apart and offered little hope around Hakeem and MJ, and the Lakers now had some additional pieces to throw at Hakeem, they would have beaten Houston in 87.
Would MJ have been able to accept that he was drafted after his teammate would he have fitted in? We all know how big his ego is! This is an ideal situation!!
Kevin Bing I think it would push him, because Hakeem was so good. His will to win would keep them together but I think both their competitive spirits would push each other
Moreover hakeem is a good teammate and had great work ethic. Jordan would sympathize for that. Hakeem may also be smart enough to let mj fulfill his ego and be the star for the greater victory of the team. I think their personality match well unlike kobe shaq.
At that time, Houston couldn't afford Hakeem and MJ. Throw Drexler in, being from Houston, and MJ would have been traded. Thing is, what team would MJ be traded to? Very different NBA then. BUT, if it could have worked, Drexler could have played small forward easily, because the Rockets usually played 3 guards anyway. The Rockets offence always needed a shooting point guard, like MJ loves. That team would have been AWESOME! Rockets Starting five... PG Kenny Smith SG Michael Jordan SF Clyde Drexler PF Otis Thorpe C Hakeem Olajuwon 6th Vernon Maxwell 7th Matt Bullard Everyone else would want to be a rocket. Horry and Cassell probably wouldn't be drafted, because the Rockets would be killing it. Not bad. Not bad at all.
What you forgot is that Blazers offered The second pick and Drexler! So they could have had Hakeem, Drexler from the trade and Jordan. They wouldn't pass on Jordan like that. Drexler could also play the 3 so they would put him there
Do you mean to say that instead of the heated Jordan/Isiah Thomas conference rivalry it could had been Jordan vs Magic? Loser misses the 92 Dream Team? If Jordan and Magic (arguably the 2 best players at the time.... hard to keep Bird out of that convo, though)were competing in the Western Finals every year... mitts would had been thrown. Would had been fun to watch. I love "What ifs".
You could think of it as the Rockets could have got Sampson and then Jordan the next year OR they could have gotten Drexler and then Olajuwon the next. Either way they had options and went with 2 centers. That got them to the finals in ‘86 and then Sampson got hurt
I wonder if Skip Bayless would have the same perspective of Jordan if he actually lost two NBA finals. But then again, winning probably like 12 from the late 80s and all the 90s would be pretty good too right?
it will have 82-0 record breaking regular sessions 15 or more championship rings in thier hands... with 2 MvP players all around athletes the rest is the history
this would have been the better shaq and kobe
But would Shaq and Kobe have ended up playing together if Jordan got traded to the Rockets? 🤔
Easily

We could have had the best center of all time, the best shooting guard AND player of all time, along with a top 10 and even arguably top 5 shooting guard of all time
You seem to forget, it wasn't just a trade for the 2nd pick to get Jordan. Portland threw Clyde Drexler in as part of the trade to get Sampson. Houston could've had Jordan, Clyde and Hakeem. 10-12 championships at minimum if everyone stayed healthy.
Exactly
With Hakeem, they do not beat up on Jordan. Hakeem was a brawler when he was younger
I'm surprised Clyde Drexler is not a factor in this. He would still be in the rockets possession.
Abhimanyu Patil rockets didn't trade for drexler until 1995
Yes, I forgot. All right, Thank you.
Abhimanyu Patil Clyde should still be traded to the Rockets since Jordan was retired at the time and the Rockets would need a SG.
Adam W the trade involved clyde
could u do more what ifs like this I think these are amazing
HOLY LONG VIDEO! AFD PUTTIN IN WORKKKK
Just his number would change history
Great vid only thing is in the trade with Ralph along with the pic we would have got Clyde to do think about that Olajuwon Drexler and Jordan 🔥🔥🔥
Please make a new version of this video that takes Clyde Drexler into account. As many others have said, the trade was Drexler and the #2 pick for Sampson.
That team would have a legitimate chance at 82-0
Would have been the greatest duo ever. Lawd they might have broken Russell 11 rings
At first I thought this was a
Mike Korzemba video...
I remember the Lakers rockets series well. Believe I was 6 or 7. Basketballs golden years.
Jordan may not of retired, at least not twice or three however you look at it.
i haven't watched the video yet, but I'm gonna guess that they would be a good team
this shit is going to be amazing. already know before watching
Been waiting on this.
This would’ve been AWESOME!!!!!!
2021 jordan was the the man who made hero ball the cool thing too be the era where one man can be the savior of your team and beyond.
Best vid ever period
They could have traded sampson and lucas to portland for clyde and the #2. Then turn around and trade clyde to chicago for the #3 and use that to take john stockton. 🤔 Jordan, Hakeem, and Stockton.....scary
good shit bro
Love these what if video
I just read below that the original trade off was including Drexler in addition to the pick that would have landed Jordan. Oh the hindsight is too painful to imagine for Hakeem, Jordan, and the Clyde the glide all together.
Drexler was no slouch obviously. He even came a breath away from a quin double, having had 8 steals and 7 blocks in one game in addition to the triple. The three on the same team would have been a match up problem for anyone.
Clyde Drexler was gonna be apart of the trade to
too*
well thats a long video

AFunkyDiabetic lot of doggo barking in the back
crxRTsupreme 000 Weird thing that Clyde actualy went to Houston and won the championship with Hakeem.
Wasn't the trade the 2 pick AND Drexler for Ralph Sampson
I actually heard that the trade that would have happened at the '84 draft was going to send Clyde Drexler and the #2 pick to Houston for Ralph Sampson. If that happens, the Rockets potentially rival Boston in 1986.
that trade also included Clyde Drexler. so the Rockets would've had a BIG 3 . Drexler. Jordan. & Dream. 10+ titles. '86🏆'88🏆'90🏆'91🏆'92🏆'93🏆'94🏆'95🏆'96🏆'97🏆'98🏆'99🏆 GTOAT
90s. was one of the best eras
MJ needed Pippen. Hakeem needed no one
A star big man was everything in the 90s. Hakeem had the advantage and yet he only won two titles when Mike was away. Mike won 6 in a decade dominated by big men with Cartwright and Longley as his center. Hakeem also needed Drexler back in 95.
@@jfrd-pw4hk Mike wasn't away in 95.
Brian scalebrine 1 kwame 2 JIMMER 3 Andrew Morrison 4 and chuck Hayes 5
CJ Har
Lavar ball
Anyone else miss the MyGm series?
Could've been more my ass......Hakeem would've taken him down.....especially in 1995.
If this scenario happens, Scottie Pippen goes to the Bulls but the Sonics not only get Olden Polyniece but John Paxon, too.
Don’t forget Clyde Drexler was in that trade too. Would’ve been the best big 3 of all time.
The big 3 out of the heavens
If MJ and Charles Barkley teamed up in the 90s. That would have been dangerous. Chuck wouldn't get dissed by Shaq by not having a ring. hahaha
They would have swept the 90's and won every single championship that decade
Would MJ have been able to accept that he was drafted after his teammate would he have fitted in? We all know how big his ego is! This is an ideal situation!!
Kevin Bing I think it would push him, because Hakeem was so good. His will to win would keep them together but I think both their competitive spirits would push each other
Moreover hakeem is a good teammate and had great work ethic.
Jordan would sympathize for that.
Hakeem may also be smart enough to let mj fulfill his ego and be the star for the greater victory of the team.
I think their personality match well unlike kobe shaq.
They would have gotten drexler too in the Sampson trade
Coming into their own on D in their 3rd years. Are you kidding, Hakeem was always dominant on D until he just got too old.
Dumars wasn’t the only player who gave Jordan fits one-on-one. GP, Mookie Blaylock, Dennis Johnson, John Starks, and a few others gave him problems.
Amazing
At that time, Houston couldn't afford Hakeem and MJ. Throw Drexler in, being from Houston, and MJ would have been traded. Thing is, what team would MJ be traded to? Very different NBA then.
BUT, if it could have worked, Drexler could have played small forward easily, because the Rockets usually played 3 guards anyway. The Rockets offence always needed a shooting point guard, like MJ loves. That team would have been AWESOME!
Rockets Starting five...
PG Kenny Smith
SG Michael Jordan
SF Clyde Drexler
PF Otis Thorpe
C Hakeem Olajuwon
6th Vernon Maxwell
7th Matt Bullard
Everyone else would want to be a rocket.
Drexler could also play the 3 so they would put him there
Notification squad where you at!?
In other words, the Rockets-Lakers matchup mirrors the 1995 Magic-Rockets matchup, where Penny and Shaq are essentially Jordan and Hakeem.
Michael was almost traded to the rockets. If we got him that would've been really bad news for everyone.
Drexler was offered as well with the 2nd pick for sampson
You could think of it as the Rockets could have got Sampson and then Jordan the next year OR they could have gotten Drexler and then Olajuwon the next.
Either way they had options and went with 2 centers. That got them to the finals in ‘86 and then Sampson got hurt
That possible trade included Clyde and MJ joining Olajuwon. Not just MJ. So it would’ve been an automatic organic super team.
mj wouldve gotten 10 rings
I wonder if Skip Bayless would have the same perspective of Jordan if he actually lost two NBA finals. But then again, winning probably like 12 from the late 80s and all the 90s would be pretty good too right?
You alright bud? You sound more monotone than often.
Dat vibrating phone when Hakeem comes up tho
do a suns mygm
Baron Rivers
lol
Do what if shaq never left the lakers
Do a what if the kobe and dirk played on the same team
Well they made 9 finals and won 8 titles combined not being together. So it's pretty scary for other teams what they could have done combined.
it will have 82-0 record breaking regular sessions 15 or more championship rings in thier hands... with 2 MvP players all around athletes the rest is the history
In the trade, the Blazers also offered Clyde Drexler
