I think Kraken would be a good concept, a mythological creature could go in any direction. They've done extinct animals so this is a natural progression :) Great review, good breakdown of the scent structure and it's progression through to the dry down, really good detail. As a retired squid (USN), I should be all over this. I love salted Squid in Asian grocer's, and spaghetti al nero di seppia, Yum! I have Camel and love it, want Hyrax and wish I had gotten Beaver before they reformulated (2016)? Next Zoologist from the sea? Moby Dick (Ambergris) USA.
I would like to see an Octopus style perfume by Zoologist. I liked the cut footage after the credits. It added a funny, more personal touch to the review. I'm a huge fan of sample/discovery kits. I am from the UK.
Very nice review and imagery depiction. Great outtake at the end lol. I recently visited Portugal and your comment made me think about the codfish balls which were delicious. I also really dig the color of the frag. I've only smelled a few from the line but my favorite is Panda. The next ocean animal should be the hermit crab. USA
I tried this unique perfume in San Francisco last week. My first impression was it smelled like raw seafood, ink, and paper in the opening, I would say it is not my cup of tea! But after drying down, the ambery and salty notes came up! It became perfectly fine on my skin. The package is beautiful as you all mentioned. Thanks again for reviewing this!

I'm not a big fan of aquatics, but this scent will evoke warm childhood memories for me. I learned how to write the old fashion way, with a fountain pen and ink. Since I can remember, I loved the smell of fountain pen ink, every time I write, I'm enveloped in happiness. I'm intrigued to try Squid. Zoologist Coral should be a next release.

I think it would be fun to have a Whale fragrance! I love those gentle giants of the ocean :). I love how this review showcases how fragrances wear differently on different people. Fragrance is so personal. I love Zoologist and their whole concept. So far my favorite is Dragonfly, but I haven't tested them all. I'm a bit leery of the more animalic ones, but who knows, I might be pleasantly surprised. Squid has been on my wishlist to try since it came out. My sister also loves the idea of this fragrance, so it would be fun to test it together like you guys did here. And that packaging is to die for! That colour, that art! I would say "Whale" would be a good sea name for another zoologist perfume. You could use Ambergris in it. And like many people here, I love the bottles too!

I definitely get the pink peppercorn and incense first. It fades into more resin and salt with a light musk skin scent. I really like it and am looking forward to wearing it in cooler weather. My current favorite Zoologist scent is Civet. For a next animal scent... I'd like Cobra - with scent notes of spices from India and flowers from South East Asia, or Platypus using Australian specific scents like eucalyptus gum and sandalwood. Yasssss. I’ve been waiting for a review on this one. Glad it was you. I’ve loved the concept of the house of Zoologist since I’ve started collecting, but have only gotten into actually purchasing niche as of recent. Bat, Elephant, TRex, Bat, Beaver, Rhino, and now Squid have all been on my radar.
I only ever tried one Zoologist release, Panda and liked it a lot. Great review as always guys and the next sea creature to be featured by the brand should be Narwhal, cold, airy, pointy, salty with huuuuge projection. UK here
Sebastian and Dalya, great review of Zoologist Perfumes Squid. Like all Zoologist Perfumes this fragrance is very unique. I like the salty/ink vibe mixed with the resins and ambergris. It sounds like a very likeable and mass appealing fragrance as far as Zoologist is concerned. If I was going to pick another animal from the sea for another fragrance release i would pick Shark. I am from the USA.

Orca from Matriarch is my current aquatic. It's not a light summer aquatic either. It's a dark swim in the deep. It should've been called 'Kraken.' Thanks for the content Sebastian.

My next sea suggestion would be Leviathan, Fire meets water, the Leviathan combines two of Earth's natural elements. This fire breathing sea serpent boils the surrounding water to a skin-melting temperature, resulting in total loss of well being & overwhelming the senses... Manchester UK

Not familiar with this house at all, but I would suggest a barracuda theme. Have it with suave aquatic linear notes, then the dry down would be surprisingly wild but dark. Hope I win to finally experience this highly praised house of aromas. Calif. U.S.A.

Wow, I love myself some Zoologist. My favorites are Panda, Hummingbird and Moth. They can be so different but still remarkable in their own way. I love how they do the “earth/wet soil note”, as they do in Elephant and Bat for example. I still have to sample at least T-Rex and Squid, so I’d be happy to get the complete sample set. I think the next sea animal should be the seahorse. Something cute? Lol. Love how you guys communicate. I am getting very calm and “cooperating vibes”, which help construct a complete image of this perfume. I also love the bloopers at the end, seems like Sebastian was having a laughing fit. Keep ‘em coming! 😂 i’m from Romania.

I live near the ocean, and I love the smell of the ocean. I like pepper notes. I like the idea of a peppery aquatic touches. I’d love to try a fragrance from this house. And I think the next fragrance they should create for an animal of the sea should be a SeaHorse ☺️. Sea Horses are so neat. The male Seahorse carries the eggs for the female, until they hatch and ready for life. Seahorses symbolizes patience, generosity/sharing, persistence, and contentment. Victor just rocks indie perfumery! Remember trying all pre launches of Zoologist in Milan and this one is definitely a hit. The presentation is on point and this time is even more special than usual. Can't wait, interesting that aquatic scent is released in cold time because in my head it makes sense to launch an aquatic fragrance in the summer but Mr. Zoo-keeper knows what he does:)

I am hooked after buying some samples from Zoologist but haven't tried this one yet...seems to be a mesmerising abstract perfume that just needs to be tested. I definitely get the pink peppercorn and incense first. It fades into more resin and salt with a light musk skin scent. I really like it and am looking forward to wearing it in cooler weather. My current favorite Zoologist scent is Civet. For a next animal scent... I'd like Cobra - with scent notes of spices from India and flowers from South East Asia, or Platypus using Australian specific scents like eucalyptus gum and sandalwood. I got a sample of squid from zoologist and I'm in love. I also love panda 2017. CHEERS from Texas. I wish the next aquatic release to be starfish. A salty carambola and slightly minty release.

Great review! I really enjoyed how it was very much the 2 of u talking about what u get from the fragrance and that u discussed it smelling slightly different on one vs. the other. I’ve loved the concept of the house of Zoologist since I’ve started collecting, but have only gotten into actually purchasing niche as of recent.
Bat, Elephant, TRex, Bat, Beaver, Rhino, and now Squid have all been on my radar.
I only ever tried one Zoologist release, Panda and liked it a lot. Great review as always guys and the next sea creature to be featured by the brand should be Narwhal, cold, airy, pointy, salty with huuuuge projection. UK here
Sebastian and Dalya, great review of Zoologist Perfumes Squid. Like all Zoologist Perfumes this fragrance is very unique. I like the salty/ink vibe mixed with the resins and ambergris. It sounds like a very likeable and mass appealing fragrance as far as Zoologist is concerned. If I was going to pick another animal from the sea for another fragrance release i would pick Shark. I am from the USA.
I would like them to do Shark it would be a fierce scent and really suit the brand. Love the fact you found an aquatic you liked! Much love from Wales (in the UK)

I would really love to see Zoologist Perfumes interpretation of Shark in their fragrances! For me, it would be something on the daring side but still something that calms down to the softer base eventually cause sharks are predators, but they rarely attack people in fact :) I'm from Europe, Russia
Maybe shark? With a serious blood smell. But I heard only bad things about strong blood accords or notes in perfumery. As always I like the chemistry between you and Dahlia. It makes for great reviews. I am from Germany.

I love when perfumes tell us stories and are full of different intepretations. I think a fragrance called "Whale" would be really interesting with lots of ambergris. I love how detailed the both of you described this interesting sounding fragrance. Since i've never smelled any of Zoologists fragrances and they dont carry them anywhere over here, a sample kit would come in quite handy. Im from Germany.
Definitely a sea urchin perfume or a coral perfume would be interesting. Pepper mix with the saltiness and inkiness sounds quite intriguing. Thank you for this review, I was looking forward to it. :) I live in Romania.

Great review informative & in depth but still easy watching as always..Not too familiar with smelling this brand but would love to see exactly wht they're about 🤔.. My next sea suggestion would be Leviathan, Fire meets water, the Leviathan combines two of Earth's natural elements. This fire breathing sea serpent boils the surrounding water to a skin-melting temperature, resulting in total loss of well being & overwhelming the senses...

Not familiar with this house at all, but I would suggest a barracuda theme. Have it with suave aquatic linear notes, then the dry down would be surprisingly wild but dark.
Hope I win to finally experience this highly praised house of aromas.

Wow, I love myself some Zoologist. My favorites are Panda, Hummingbird and Moth. They can be so different but still remarkable in their own way. I love how they do the “earth/wet soil note”, as they do in Elephant and Bat for example. I still have to sample at least T-Rex and Squid, so I’d be happy to get the complete sample set. I think the next sea animal should be the seahorse. Something cute? Lol.
Love how you guys communicate. I am getting very calm and “cooperating vibes”, which help construct a complete image of this perfume. I also love the bloopers at the end, seems like Sebastian was having a laughing fit. Keep ‘em coming! 😂 i’m from Romania.

I’ve never tried this fragrance house but people give great reviews. So I can’t say I have a favorite but Squid sounds nice. Very interesting. I live near the ocean, and I love the smell of the ocean. I like pepper notes. I like the idea of a peppery aquatic touches. I’d love to try a fragrance from this house. And I think the next fragrance they should create for an animal of the sea should be a SeaHorse ☺️. Sea Horses are so neat. The male Seahorse carries the eggs for the female, until they hatch and ready for life. Seahorses symbolizes patience, generosity/sharing, persistence, and contentment. Victor just rocks indie perfumery! Remember trying all pre launches of Zoologist in Milan and this one is definitely a hit. The presentation is on point and this time is even more special than usual. Can't wait, interesting that aquatic scent is released in cold time because in my head it makes sense to launch an aquatic fragrance in the summer but Mr. Zoo-keeper knows what he does:)
