This is a GNB-lalgudi-palghat raghu concert. Think calcutta concert, 1956. Maybe debatable if it is GNB complimenting lgj on stage. But he is known to have referred to lgj and pr sir as his two eyes.
This is from 1954, at Kalladaikuruchi sir. Yes, it is debatable but based on enquiries from various sources, it looks like he actually has complimented Lalgudi sir.
@@thecarnaticworld2627 oh, thanks for the correction. Now i remember. Confused it with a gnb-tnk-pr concert @ kolkata which has a heavenly mAjAnaki. The great thing about lgj is, even in the earliest recording we can probably find, he sounds like he has been playing the violin from tyAgarAja swAmi's times. In this kallidaikkurichi concert, every alapana is simply unimaginable, leave alone executing live on stage, in response to the main artiste. Abhogi, kalyani, surutti, amrutavarshini and the grand tODi. Lgj blends wizardry with the saintly poise and purity of saint tyAgarAja, at an incredible age of (maybe) 30. Infinite bows to this colossus !!
As Aniruddhan Balakrishnan sir mentioned, this is from the famed Kalladaikuruchi concert with Lalgudi Jayaraman and Palghat Raghu. The full concert is available on Spotify.
Its not Lalgudi sir's voice at all. GN sir has never appreciated anybody this way, that too in english while in concert. BALE nu dhan neraia solluvaar. Ahaa nu rasichurukkar, Palghat Mani iyer, Palani Subbudu sir a ellam. This must be some other occasion where GN sir and some other person exchanging courtesies.
It isn't lalgudi sir's voice but GN sir's voice. The whole concert recording is available online and I have verified this with GN sir's younger brother too.
@@thecarnaticworld2627 It's definitely GNB's voice saying "pleasure is mine" but the voice of the statement following is clearly that of someone else (definitely not Lalgudi sir's voice). I believe GN sir and someone else are having an exchange unrelated to the alapana.
‘Pleasure is mine’
Such golden words!
Eppadi ippadi vaasikaraar.. Divine soul Shri Lalgudi Sir
GNB's positive comment reminds us that a musician should also be an effective listener and bring out the best out of their co-performers!
The One & Only Shri Lalgudi Sir 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Lalgudi Sir's Kalyani is just eternally modern.

Just to add, abhogi and surutti had only kalpanaswaras i recall. Meant to say, manodharma exercises in general.
@@varadharajanranganathan3761 Lalgudi sir was just 24 years of age when he played this concert sir.
@@thecarnaticworld2627 wow! Indeed. Just goes to show his immortality
Lalgudi was 24 years...
Yes. He would have been 24 years old when he played this concert, quite unbelievable!
What does he say after ‘pleasure is mine’?
'I won't claim it's mine, it's mutual' from what I'm able to decipher.
Any pointer to the details of this concert pls? Like the song list and the venue/ year details? Thank you
Sangeethamrutham, Live at Kallidaikiruchi 1954

@@thecarnaticworld2627 yes. I too have the concert with me.
This is a concert in Kallidaikurichi for a function in the family of India Cements. Voice is that of GNB.
