I can see that the snow and ice are melting. If a new cold front comes in, that will mean that wet roadways will be like driving on black ice, and that is when the roads are most deadly! People need to keep this in mind because when the wet highways freeze that's when the black ice is there! Driving on those roads could be most deadly at that time!

Homes in Texas need to be better insulated with fiberglass insulation. People need to remember that insulation works both ways because in the summertime when they run their air-conditioners the insulation helps to keep the cool cold air inside of their house. In the wintertime, it repels against cold air getting inside of the homes making it easier to keep the inside of your home warmer during the winter months! If they don't better insulate these buildings they can suffer the consequences of it!

Watching at 4:44 am on Friday. It is 3 degrees outside where I live in Missouri, 51 in the heated feral cat box, and 60 in the house. It is hard to grasp the magnitude of the Texas power failure and the ongoing repercussions in what were fairly mild winter temperatures. I'm thinking that when Texas thaws out heads will roll.
Methane gas freezes at -257.8 degF. The natural gas that flows in Texas pipelines is by and large dried before it is transported any significant distance so methane hydrate formation should be negligible. So, please spin us another yarn. This disaster was primarily caused by an over-reliance on wind power and abysmally poor planning. Heads need to roll for this, starting with Governor Abbot and the ERCOT board. People died from their incompetence.

I don't want to hear about unprecedented weather. Every Texan knows the weather isn't bad except for one time during the year: mid-February to end of February. For that 2-3 week stretch at some point there's going to be below freezing temperatures, ice, and sometimes snow. It's ERCOT's job to have a worst case scenario plan in place. This isn't a surprise. This was greed.
So because they didn't winterize their plants and windmills they offline 22 plants that would have supplied enough power to maintain supply...they put it on us when it their equipment failed to force outsourcing

So "green" energy constitutes 25% of Texas' power supply but was responsible for 40% of the power failure/shortage = green energy was less reliable under the current weather situation. Turbines and solar panels failed in several countries, ie Germany, due to this winter storm. Just sayin'

To be honest I'm not the biggest fan of the renewables, but we have redundancy and we keep expanding and updating our power grid the price of the energy is going to drastically reduce... It's about what you can do for the future

I don't want to hear about unprecedented weather. Every Texan knows the weather isn't bad except for one time during the year: mid-February to end of February. For that 2-3 week stretch at some point there's going to be below freezing temperatures, ice, and sometimes snow. It's ERCOT's job to have a worst case scenario plan in place. This isn't a surprise. This was greed.
So because they didn't winterize their plants and windmills they offline 22 plants that would have supplied enough power to maintain supply...they put it on us when it their equipment failed to force outsourcing

Leave it trickling. Water expands when it freezes, by letting the water run reduces the pressure on the pipes and the flow creates friction keeping the water just above freezing.
