I didn't know there was a distinction between the two. I'm not sure how large Fanders is; whether it's a small area or makes up a large proportion of Belgium. But I do know it's nearly my surname.
@@RichardFanders No worries, I did glance over the " *nearly* my surname", was being a bit pedantic tbh. Anyway, glad you enjoyed driving here overall, love the MX5 as well!
Wow Richard, you really know the driving rules in Belgium than most of us😅. I followed your other channel because im still learning how to drive. Greetings from Belgium
Hey Richard! Thanks a lot for this series of videos. I'm currently driving in France and Belgium from the UK and your videos have been an immense help. I just want to mention that you said rural area non-motorway speed limit is 90. This is partially true because it is lowered to 70 in the Flemish region. Sources for this can be found in the European commission website, Wikipedia, and other websites. Just wanted to point this out in case someone watching this video in the future doesn't do their research
I've been watching your videos filmed in the uk for so long but i've watched them in modération since you are on the other side of the road for me. I am from Belgium and i cant believe you filmed a video here!!
Nice to see the video! You drove much of the time at Brugge or the outskirts! Most of the Motorways are these days good at least in Flanders. Sometimes, in urban areas, too many traffic signs and confusing. Cheers
Thanks for these videos, Richard. I don't intend to drive in these countries but interesting to note the different rules to those of the UK. I like the lower limits for alcohol and the wearing of hi-vis for breakdowns.
We experienced the one machine for all pumps situation in belgium and it wasn't easy to understand with the language barrier trying to ask them haha Should've watched this video beforehand!
We have both systems in Belgium, one-for-all and one per pump. It's not like they put that ATM miles away, it's probably on the other side of the pumps if you don't see it.
The government are so embarrassed at turning the clock back 30 years (to GB plates) so we'll pretend it's new cos it's the "UK". PS Enjoyed the video - a good reminder of all the things I need to do that I thought we'd left behind. PPS Strictly speaking, they don't speak Dutch : it's Flemish.
Speed limits actually vary in Belgium on out of town non motorways depending on the region. 70Km/h in Flanders, 90Km/h in Wallonia. In Brussels of course there are no out of town roads and the default speed limit there is 30Km/h.
I cycled from Hook of Holland to Amsterdam in 2018, it's a beautiful country. I currently have no plans to go to Netherlands but if I drive there in the future I will make a video.
Belgium had pretty decent infrastructure when comparing it to the European average. There's a pretty big distinction between the States though. The Flemish have got their maintenance much more on Point than the others.
Just back from Belgium where I traveled Brussels Airport to Stavelot for the F1 GP(via Charleroi and a whole lot of Belgian countryside), and returned from Stavelot to Brussels airport directly Thank God. Listen up... Irish and GB drivers. If you don't know Belgium, bring or hire an ENGLISH speaking sat nav. If you hire a car with sat nav, DO NOT leave the airport until you have that sat nav reading out in English. Driving in Belgium as a newbie is OK with Sat Nav assistance. It's a total nightmare without it. Believe me, I know. Again friends, Use a Sat Nav that is in English.... Belgium is a lovely country with an awful road system and pretty much NO English signage to assist. Take heed of what I say... and thank me after :D
Hi Richard ,what Kind of engine Oil should i use for ND series , 0W20 or 5W30, dealer suggest us using 0W20 but i have little bit concern when tempature goes high not sure if i can still use 0W20?
@@pilot-vp1 Ferry is cheaper, Eurotunnel is faster. If you want to see some scenery and like boat rides, take the ferry. The Eurotunnel is nothing but miles of darkness.
About the lack of service stations on the freeway, if you take just about any exit there will most likely be one in the immediate area.
Screw Pitbull, Richard Fanders is the new Mr. Worldwide!
One little mistake, speed limits outside of town is 70 km/h in Flanders, 90 km/h in Wallonia

@@RichardFanders Flanders, you forgot the L there. It's about half of Belgium (the Dutch speaking part). Wallonia is the French speaking part.
Sorry, I meant to write Flanders (hence almost my surname) but auto correct took the L away.

you have to drive in India once and I gaurantee you, you're whole perspective on driving will change 😂😂
I fully agree. I drove in many places, including india, but india is a totally different experience.😂

7:50 you know you are in Flanders when you see black and yellow striped traffic light poles. In Wallonia and Brussels these are white and red striped.

Belgium’s terrible road infrastructure is to me one more reason to see you drive in the Netherlands once :)

Dutchies will forever whine about Belgian roads, it's become a stale one-trick-pony meme by now.

I recommend using the oil in the owners manual, I use the thicker of the two as I do track days and will get it hotter.
Listening all this i think in UK is mire safe to drive then some European countries
the street lights are now only in intersections on motorways
(to cut energy costs!)
the roads are in Wallonia worse than in Flanders
Welcome to Belgium. Did you like your trip here?
Brugge is very beautiful.
HI i dont have a logbook for my car. Its a used one that came with no service history. Will this be a problem
The service history is not a problem but not having a log book may delay things if you get pulled over.

hahaha driving on sand paper?
Those would be concrete roads, material used with the intention to save costs.
