The grab makes this match-up a nightmare for Gief. It feels like literally every character with a command grab is a better grappler than Gief sometimes lol
marisa scotum can be held if they spam fireballs. when she armors a fireball she closes in the gap setting up for that sweet sweet command grab or other mix up. it is so fun
Basically, What I love to do is using Triglav at the other side of the screen on wakeup, using Torbulan low or mid, another Triglav in case it hit for the combo. You can also use Departure on wakeup and and go for a Triglav and just waiting or teleporting if there is a jump. If you know the opponent is going to parry, then use the Teleport and throw or the Command Grab. It's over.
It's intended, there's a reason those fireballs have a very obvious windup animation. On the same vein there's a reason why they also delay that animation when coming across someone whose been knocked down.
I don't believe it was. It is simply because JP projectiles are active when the fireball is active when the claw appears. Basically, the fireball is like a normal hit, but act like a fireball.
@@dingusdangus9299 No, Capcom just screwed You shouldn't be able to dash thru them. It is another proof that they are not pros and they don't play with their games.
it's definitely intentional, if they didn't want stuff like this to happen they would just make his fireballs traveling hitboxes like every other fireball in the game. it's why he can feint them, a majority of this counterplay loses to that.
juri player here, I have been messing around with different timings and I just cant figure out the dash through. Even if I get 90% of the way past the projectile it still hits me in the end. Anyone know what im doing wrong
It takes a LOT of practice to get used to the timing and the only thingi can say is "do it when the fireball is a character length in front of you" Like most of the dashable ones took me legit about 30 minutes to get a successful attempt. Hers were much easier but even then its tricky until you get used to the timing.
Question. So is the reason why some dashes make it through JP's projectile, because they're fast enough to pass the hurtbox that triggers? I'm a little lost
Just a problem i have with your format, the text on the top is above the example and it ends as the example ends meaning i have to choose to read or watch the example. Maybe but it at the bottom of like over the example idk. Just my thoughts good vid.

@@kevin-bf4ww it was tested on the previous video, and yes that works only at close ranges, which at that point most won't be using fireballs or it would just be too on point to react to it. If you do it at mid range you're just going to get punished as that move doesn't travel far

Good lab info, I dind't knew that, but JP, is the King of SF6. The problem is that ANYTIME you are knockdown, you are in for a VORTEX at the other side of the screen that you CANNOT avoid. He can use Departure, Triglav or Torbulan (low or mid) and all that stuff is a COMBO opportunity. Add to this insane normals and insane and frame traps and you are just back in USFIV playing against El Fuerte.
not just feint, but he also has pierce to beat these options as well. JP is all about having many zoning options and choosing the right ones for the job, he doesnt need the buff
So like i said in the video, they literally don't actually "activate" until they reach your character. So characters with fast, long range dashes can actually avoid the hitbox that is formed if they dash as it reaches them. This also applies to any tool that moves them forward or backward significantly fast which is why Honda and Blanka are so good here.
it's because the claw swipe is what actually hits you, and it has startup frames. the fireball itself doesn't do anything, you can move straight through it. so when you dash through it, if your dash is fast and long enough, the claw swipe starts but is too slow to hit you before you're on the other side.
@@DenOfSin Right I know that's in concept but...the difference must be so small, yet it makes a huge difference. I feel like it might get equalized, it barely even seems intentional. It's certainly counterintuitive to dash into a fireball!
Really good resource for JP projectile counterplay.
as a juri player i'm very pleased by this info
If JP just did that projectile it would be one thing. But mixing it up with spikes and trap is when it gets frustrating, it's very overwhelming
Also the cancel makes those FB mix-ups even more dangerous
Fair, but if we could negate everything he does then he'd suck lol
So much details. Good thing i’m using spikes mostly.
The problem is not the special moves, but how he can use them, like you are stating.
@@PillowSensei But you can't.... >XD
I’ve found that Dee Jay’s forward punch follow up from his sway cannot avoid the JP’s grab projectile, so be careful

Yes. The dashes that work do so because they move fast enough to have cleared the projectile's hitbox by the time it activates.
