No, this is not the default weapon switch speed. We are playing on a custom server with faster weapon switch, some people might be wondering why? Well, these settings are actually the standard for cup games since 2 decades. A little bit of UT99 history from my research - UT99 used to be very popular in Clanbase times. Clanbase was basically an esports site for cup games in the 2000s and the best players were competing on it. Clanbase cups had faster weapon switch speed for TDM and Duels. Default UT has tons of balance issues and bugs which are not holding up well for cup games, so the modding community had to fix some things and made cup approved mods like UTPure which fixed a ton of balance problems and made the game better. I was 4 years old when UT99 was being released and I didn't get to experience the golden Clanbase days. I came into the UT scene very late in 2008.
Yes, there are tons of UT99 communities on Discord. Every game mode you can think of is still active. A lot of tournaments are being hosted. There are competitive drafts/clan leagues each year for nwCTF and iCTF. i4g BT is dead since years, people dont really play there anymore, they have moved to a different community called UTBT. UTBT is super active and each year there are multiple tournaments with prizes. 6 months ago there was a UTBT mapping competition with 600 Euro prize poll, I have also competed in it and released a map called BT-AzurePalace. There are new BT certified servers and world records are also stored there, overall really big updates have happened to BT when i4g was abandoned, you should come and check it out. You can get it from here: github.com/OldUnreal/UnrealTournamentPatches/releases Also, you can try to use Raw Mouse Input instead of Direct Input or Cursor Input. You can change these mouse settings with the latest community patches, I personally use Raw Input.
Are you playing with a 25 year old pc? Those graphics are the worst I've ever seen in UT 99. You 2 are trying too hard. How about enjoying the game? It's beautiful.
