40yo Army (Bts fans name) here... I was part of the whole boyband craze back in my teens and let me tell you, they are worlds apart! I remember young me was super impressed with NSync/BsBs dance moves .. looking back and knowing BTS now I'm mildly embarrassed 😅 As others have probably told you, they cover lots of genres and their lyrics usualy go deep (depression, self love, social injustice, ...). And they connect to their fans in a way I have never seen a band do. They pulled me out of a deep depression, give me motivation and faith in humanity on a daily basis. If you do a deep dive you usually can not help but love them, even if not their music (cause that's personal preference), then at least as human beings.

I am a 65 yr old grandmother and in the past I did like nsync and bsbs. But they don't hold a candle to BTS. With 3 rappers and 4 vocalists they have written, composed and produced some of the most thought provoking music I have ever heard. Suga, one of the rappers, also produces for other artists, his latest being PSY 's song "That That". They have songs in all genres, as a group and as solos. With 300+ songs, they have something for everyone. They come from very humble beginnings to form a brotherhood, not just a group. You can't put them in a box with other "boy bands". They are BTS. They debuted in 2013 with a song called No More Dream. They started as a hip hop group. If it sounds like a romantic song, they are more likely to be referring to ARMY, their fandom. These amazing young men have impressed me most because they are sweet, loving, caring and very hard working. Hope you will take the trip down the rabbit hole there is so much to learn. For me their English songs does not represent their discography. All 3 English songs were released during the pandemic to cheer up people. It's more on the poppy side. Yeah, they can move their hands in certain ways a boyband does but gotta tell you that Dynamite's choreo is not even on the top 10 lists. If you wanna experience the true BTS, try their Korean songs like fake love, mic drop or on kinetic manifesto. If the choreo in mv is not clear enough, don't worry, they have dance practice video. I loved watching your daughter groove to the song! I'm 53 and share a love of BTS with my 12-y.o. daughter - it's refreshing to me to find a group with music full of relatable and positive messages, with an absence of sex and mostly lacking in foul language (their rap songs are another story though 😂) They aren't just 'pop' though. I'm a lifelong alt-rock fan, and my introduction to BTS five years ago was "MIC Drop", which is a hip-hop track. I was blown away and never looked back.... Just make sure you have English captions on for their official music videos, because the vast majority of their 350+ discography is in Korean
I love Metal and Grunge and Hard Rock and was never into Rap or Boybands and I love BTS. If u dive into their discography, you will find anything but Dynamite. Don’t let Dynamite fool u! In fact, I was once a hater of BTS without any reason at all but after giving them a chance and learning their discography, I realized that I was totally wrong. BTS is not just a typical KPop idol group. They are global A-listers. They're the only artists who got 3 number 1 albums in less than a year and the fastest artist who accumulated 6 number 1 songs on the Billboard 100, Billboard 200 and Billboard Global. The last group to achieve that was The Beatles. They have broken records set by The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, One Direction etc in just 6 years.They are not just known for being great singers, rappers and dancers but also, their Korean lyrics are so deep, meaningful and inspirational. The message they send through their lyrics, music and artistry resonates with the general public because they tackle subjects such as depression, anxiety, mental health, discrimination, social expectations, self love, hard work, following your dreams etc. They have 3 English songs Dynamite, Butter and Permission To Dance which they released during the heights of the global pandemic to bring positive vibe and hope to all their fans across the world. Their 3 English songs are not really that deep compared to their Korean songs. The seven members are all songwriters, producers and composers. Although they have in-house producers, they are actively involve in writing, composing and producing their songs from their debut album in 2013 to their solo stuff until now. You can't really compare them to western boy band because they have a wide range of music genre. Their music genres include Pop, Hip Hop, Latin Pop, EDM, R&B, Ballad, Funk, Electropop, Garage Rock, Emo, Urban Contemporary, Classical etc . Name it, they have it. They have more than 300 songs as a group excluding their individual solo stuff. Although they are a group, they also have the freedom to express their own solo music styles. I'm 31 and been Army since bts debuted in 2013 these guys have lyrics that has helped so many people with their lyrics this song has gotten me through the pandemic big time. But there are 3 rappers and 4 vocalists as well. They have versatile songs from pop to Hip-Hop amd R&B as well plus rock versions of their songs to. Like it's all incredible there isn't a song from bts that I don't like cause I love them all alot lol.

Yes, your typical boy band : albums in three different languages, top level dancing, all members stars in their own right, rapping as well as singing, writing and producing music and lyrics in many different genres, nearing 400 songs solo & together, records broken and top awards around the world. 53 year old ARMY grew up on metal and rock. BTS are my favorite group. They do all genres of music from RAP to hip-hop, EDM, R&B, pop etc. I would say you need to hear more because you won't label them in same category as boy band. I recommend introduction to BTS by Taylor you will learn a little bit first and then react to more music.
I hope you try more BTS, as they also rap, do hip hop, latin pop, rock, r&b, edm and ballards. They started off with hip hop, and only have a handful of pop songs.

Dynamite, Butter and Permission To Dance are three songs that were written for BTS during the pandemic to help Army (their fans) feel better about the state of the world. They are good songs, but really the least BTS like songs that BTS has done. I’ll take them a million times over Baby Metal. I’d take them over Band Maids, although it’s closer (but not that close). I hope you investigate them without all your preconceptions. I’m halfway through your video and your mind seems made up like you know everything. I’d watch the explanation video for Spring Day, then watch Spring Day right after. The video that explains it best is The Italian Army (UA-cam channel) Spring Day Explained. Maybe that name isn’t right. I’ll find it and link it. One of the three English songs (Dynamite being one) was written by Ed Sheeran

Please try BTS again. You could try Mic Drop and Run BTS from their Busan Yet To Come Concert and Set Me Free Pt. 2 MV (solo song of Jimin from BTS). Like most of their songs, this is nothing like Dynamite and the dancing is off the charts!!
Well i would say Dynamite isn't what i'd ever recommed as a first BTS song even though it was mine. The reason is because this doesn't show you who and what BTS is to it's fullest and they also didn't write the lyrics and that does impact how the song comes across. Now that's not to say it's a bad song it isn't and i do like it (if i hadn't i'd never have looked futher into BTS). In term of the video it's ok but also no where near the best BTS have to offer (as a group or individually) as it doesn't have a story to it that's as indepth as most of the others. I would hightly recomment ON (the kinetic manifesto version), black swan, mic drop and Not today they'll give you a better idea. Also BTS dance dance (way above western boybands level) and it's amazing If you watch the ON music video i suggested you'll see that. I really hope you watch more and as i don't really like most artist if you can tell me what types of music you do like i can probably suggested song more suited to what you'd like. If you like Coldplay for example i'd recommend My universe (which is a collab of the 2 groups), BTS' cover of Fix You and Jin's (the eldest member of BTS) song The Astronaut. My literally cover so many genres i'm sure i can find something more suited to yourself.
i completely where you are coming from with your comments about boy band, but trust me BTS is DIFFERENT. they have all the formula of boy band YES but they are much much more. all 7 are talented, this song is pop and catchy but on its own only show the part of what this group can do. they compose, produce most of their songs, most are in korean and the full english ones are their more recent songs during the pandamic. i strongly recommend checking out other songs if you have an open mind such as Born Singer, MIC DROP, Airplane pt 2, Idol

I'm 53 and share a love of BTS with my 12-y.o. daughter - it's refreshing to me to find a group with music full of relatable and positive messages, with an absence of sex and mostly lacking in foul language (their rap songs are another story though 😂)
They aren't just 'pop' though. I'm a lifelong alt-rock fan, and my introduction to BTS five years ago was "MIC Drop", which is a hip-hop track. I was blown away and never looked back.... Just make sure you have English captions on for their official music videos, because the vast majority of their 350+ discography is in Korean

In fact, I was once a hater of BTS without any reason at all but after giving them a chance and learning their discography, I realized that I was totally wrong. BTS is not just a typical KPop idol group. They are global A-listers. They're the only artists who got 3 number 1 albums in less than a year and the fastest artist who accumulated 6 number 1 songs on the Billboard 100, Billboard 200 and Billboard Global. The last group to achieve that was The Beatles. They have broken records set by The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, One Direction etc in just 6 years.They are not just known for being great singers, rappers and dancers but also, their Korean lyrics are so deep, meaningful and inspirational. The message they send through their lyrics, music and artistry resonates with the general public because they tackle subjects such as depression, anxiety, mental health, discrimination, social expectations, self love, hard work, following your dreams etc. They have 3 English songs Dynamite, Butter and Permission To Dance which they released during the heights of the global pandemic to bring positive vibe and hope to all their fans across the world. Their 3 English songs are not really that deep compared to their Korean songs. The seven members are all songwriters, producers and composers. Although they have in-house producers, they are actively involve in writing, composing and producing their songs from their debut album in 2013 to their solo stuff until now. You can't really compare them to western boy band because they have a wide range of music genre. Their music genres include Pop, Hip Hop, Latin Pop, EDM, R&B, Ballad, Funk, Electropop, Garage Rock, Emo, Urban Contemporary, Classical etc . Name it, they have it. They have more than 300 songs as a group excluding their individual solo stuff. Although they are a group, they also have the freedom to express their own solo music styles. As of March 2023, they have already won over one thousand awards and counting including 12 Billboard and 11 American Music Awards, the only KPop group who got 5 Grammy nominations and with 28 Guinness World Record. They top Billboard, Itunes, Spotify, UA-cam and other music platforms. They sell out stadiums across the globe including Sofi Stadium, Allegiant Stadium, Rose Bowl in the US and the legendary Wembley Stadium in England in less than an hour. Getting a BTS concert ticket is like hunger games.Their music videos are insane but they are better live. Backstreet Boys, NSync? LOL! You have no idea how talented these boys are. Aside from Michael Jackson, I've never really seen any western artists who can perform live better than BTS. Actually, when BTS became huge globally especially in the US in 2017-2018 (3 years after their debut), many western boy groups who were on hiatus had a come back but unfortunately, they were not able to get closed to how big BTS had become. Their fans ARMYs are not just screaming teenage girls but people who are in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s even 60s and 70s. I'm 48 and I'm an ARMY. I'm 31 and been Army since bts debuted in 2013 these guys have lyrics that has helped so many people with their lyrics this song has gotten me through the pandemic big time. But there are 3 rappers and 4 vocalists as well. They have versatile songs from pop to Hip-Hop amd R&B as well plus rock versions of their songs to. Like it's all incredible there isn't a song from bts that I don't like cause I love them all alot lol.

53 year old ARMY grew up on metal and rock. BTS are my favorite group. They do all genres of music from RAP to hip-hop, EDM, R&B, pop etc. I would say you need to hear more because you won't label them in same category as boy band. I recommend introduction to BTS by Taylor you will learn a little bit first and then react to more music.
I hope you try more BTS, as they also rap, do hip hop, latin pop, rock, r&b, edm and ballards. They started off with hip hop, and only have a handful of pop songs.

Dynamite, Butter and Permission To Dance are three songs that were written for BTS during the pandemic to help Army (their fans) feel better about the state of the world. They are good songs, but really the least BTS like songs that BTS has done.
I’ll take them a million times over Baby Metal. I’d take them over Band Maids, although it’s closer (but not that close).

Please try BTS again. You could try Mic Drop and Run BTS from their Busan Yet To Come Concert and Set Me Free Pt. 2 MV (solo song of Jimin from BTS). Like most of their songs, this is nothing like Dynamite and the dancing is off the charts!!
Well i would say Dynamite isn't what i'd ever recommed as a first BTS song even though it was mine. The reason is because this doesn't show you who and what BTS is to it's fullest and they also didn't write the lyrics and that does impact how the song comes across. Now that's not to say it's a bad song it isn't and i do like it (if i hadn't i'd never have looked futher into BTS).
In term of the video it's ok but also no where near the best BTS have to offer (as a group or individually) as it doesn't have a story to it that's as indepth as most of the others.
I would hightly recomment ON (the kinetic manifesto version), black swan, mic drop and Not today they'll give you a better idea.
Also BTS dance dance (way above western boybands level) and it's amazing If you watch the ON music video i suggested you'll see that.
I really hope you watch more and as i don't really like most artist if you can tell me what types of music you do like i can probably suggested song more suited to what you'd like.
If you like Coldplay for example i'd recommend My universe (which is a collab of the 2 groups), BTS' cover of Fix You and Jin's (the eldest member of BTS) song The Astronaut.

i completely where you are coming from with your comments about boy band, but trust me BTS is DIFFERENT. they have all the formula of boy band YES but they are much much more. all 7 are talented, this song is pop and catchy but on its own only show the part of what this group can do. they compose, produce most of their songs, most are in korean and the full english ones are their more recent songs during the pandamic. i strongly recommend checking out other songs if you have an open mind such as Born Singer, MIC DROP, Airplane pt 2, Idol

All end with this they have a fictional storyline that runs through all their albums and many of their music videos.
In the storyline the members play different characters using their own names to tell a continuing story. The storyline includes albums music videos short films highlight reels books web tunes (online graphic novels which you download save and read) end a video game. In recent years the last couple of years they have made a new web tone not related to the original storyline and another mobile video game. There are numerous documentary and background guides on BTS available by various creators on UA-cam.

However, I would like to add that up to date BTS has achieved 920 awards (and if I am NOT mistaken, they are the 4th most awarded artists of all time (behind Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift and Beyonce). BTS achieved this milestone in 10 years as an artist (since their debut in 2013).
Oh no,no,no definitely nothing like those boy bands and this is one of their English songs, so probably not the best BTS songs to react too for the first time. They have a massive genre of music and you should react to the BTS guide of the seven members by Taylor.

Yes I did leave a dislike on this video for all the reasons I stated in the other comment unfortunately even though this video deserves at least six dislikes UA-cam only allows one!
This is just an observation first time reacting to BTS don't know anything about them how did you pick this video but the number of views other videos have just as many views how is it that you managed to select their very first music video and song that was entirely in English and not one of their Korean language videos were you put wake up would have most likely forgot to put the English closed captions on and keep complaining about the fact that you didn't understand what they were saying!
