The movie "Contagion" came out several years before COVID and depicted the exact same scenario of a disease arising in the incredibly unsanitary wet markets in China and spreading throughout the world. And the main reason I was so eager to see that movie was that I had known for more than a decade that that was a probably eventuality, and I'm not a doctor or epidemiologist and don't even have a degree in biology. Any reasonably well informed person knew that a pandemic like COVID was an inevitability.
