0:11 We apologize for the mistake here. For clarification, the Yankees won in 2000 and 2009, while the Red Sox won in 2004 and 2007. There were *two* repeat champions this decade.

Thx for the video, as a Houstonian teen at the time who was a huge killer bee fan this was my most devastating moment as a fan of any big 3 American sports. I was a teen who grew up with the killer bees and I was so excited to “see my childhood heroes finally get one” just to get their ass kicked

As a southsider and White Sox fan, its so frustrating to see what the Sox were able to pull off in 05 just to see them slip right back into mediocrity. Its such a shame. The fanbase is there, its just Jerry Reinsdorf running this team into the ground. We can't hold onto 2005 forever, hell I was only 4 years old when that happened.

As a Chicago area resident, at that time I was wondering if I will ever in my lifetime see a World Series from either of the city's two major league teams.

As a Cubs fan, it’s weird to see how the 2005 White Sox just get pushed to the side because they were DOMINANT! 99 wins, wire-to-wire in first place, swept the defending champions in the Red Sox, had probably the most dominant starting pitching performance in the ALCS against the Angels (only 2 batters on the Angels faced a relief pitcher - the last two outs of game 1), and swept the Astros with the lowest run differential a World Series sweep has seen (+6 - the lowest possible is +4). It’s insane. I think they get forgotten because it almost seemed like a one year fluke (they didn’t make the playoffs in 2004 or 2006), and the 2016 Cubs had a more memorable playoff run (no offense to the 2005 White Sox, but the comebacks the Cubs pulled off are hard to ignore)

As a Houstonian, this World Series got me into baseball at age seven and then proceeded to eviscerate my heart. So glad I’m spoiled for choice now, because it makes me really appreciate this series more. And I’m glad Southside got its redemption 88 years in the making… and also that we needed to wait only five years for our own redemption.

This stands as one of my favorite series, and I was an Astros fan. The games were all nail biters, and that final play was EXTREMELY close. Houston was never out of a game, and that says something given how good Chicago was.

I really thought this White Sox team was set up to win multiple championships, or at the very least, to contend for the division on a yearly basis.

I used to hate the Sox until my Cubs won in 2016, now I don’t root for the Sox but I want them to be good for the sake of the city. Also lots of Chicago legends on this team, I just wish Frank Thomas could have played, he’s one of the GOATs and doesn’t get enough recognition in my opinion.
EDIT: Konerko and Buerlhe are also absolute Chicago legends

I was in Chicago at the Drake hotel watching in the lobby when the Sox won it, and no one was celebrating at least there it’s like we weren’t even in Chicago

That’s sad, for what it’s worth there were tons of Sox fans celebrating in my northwest suburbs middle school, with the word SOX shaved into their heads etc.

This is an instance of a series sweep that was better than a good chunk of the 5 (maybe 6) game WS. But sadly it is only remembered by Houston fans (that and the moment Brad Lidge became broken as that just cursed the Astros for that WS)and White Soxs fans and fans in the know but thats it. Everyone remembers the series before it and after it and pretty much most for the 2000s but 2005 is just there in the pit of forgetfulness. It also doesn't help that both teams fell of cliffs not that long after that with Houston going into its long tank in 2007 and the White Soxs followings behind only a few years later. Now sure the Marlins and Rockies did that but a lot of people really remember those due to how unlikely those runs were (and how the Marlins basically accidentally won 2 rings.) But yeah i think 2005 will sadly sit in this forgotten place unless there is a big change. No wonder why the White Soxs threaten to leave they win it all and people forget it.

Man stfu, the music was fine good video, and the white Sox are such an irrelevant franchise its pretty insane that they had one a WS relatively recently
