In the owners manual is a starting sequence. After cutting 2 - 3 cords every year since, the saw starts precisely as it did on day one using the proper sequence when cold: 1) Close choke. 2) Set throttle to high idle. 3) Turn on switch. 4) Pull rope until it starts and dies. (usually 4 pulls) 5) Open choke 6) pull rope until it starts and runs at high idle. 7) Blip throttle to disengage high idle. 8) Cut wood
