- In this video we will show how to pattern and sew up your own boat helm cover. We will be using Sunbrella Marine Grade fabric from Sailrite to make the cover and snaps will be used to secure it in place. This helm cover is rather small, but the principles and concepts for larger covers are obviously covered in this video.

i always fit the cover Before i put on binding.
nstead of cutting the tail of the binding flush with the end, I keep sewing for 3 more cms then cut with hot knife , fold it back and sew it down.
Love the binder but I cant justify having one for the small amount of work I do for friends! Janice Fanning in New Zealand. I use your videos all the time ,thankyou
I would like to thank you for sharing this information with me !
I am just learning the ins & outs of sewing , Many great tips
make it not so overwhelming !
Thanks also… We’re going to do this for my Chaparral Signature helm station which is very similar to the one you did here.. I went to your company website . Which material did you use on the one in the video? The amount you used on this helm station would work for me.. how much material was used? Thanks again…
I would order 2 to 3 yards of a 60 inch wide Marine Grade Fabric. We used Sunbrella, but you could save money and use Sattler Marine Grade fabric instead. It is found here: www.sailrite.com/Fabrics/Marine-Fabric/Brand/Sattler
@@SailriteDIY Thank you so very much! I just replaced all 15 rocker switches and dash templates and where as I keep the boat covered 90% of the time but a quick snap on cover for the helm would be awesome! Much appreciated!
@@SailriteDIY Just ordered it! Wish me luck!
What kind of sewing machine do you use, and what do you recommend for small projects?
I recommend the same machine that was used to sew this project, the Sailrite Ultrafeed LS found here: www.sailrite.com/Sailrite-Ultrafeed-LS-Walking-Foot-Sewing-Machine-110V
Very helpful video!
Glad it was helpful!
