this is one of the reasons why i place vocal based soloists like iu, gyubin, henry, mamamoo members(yknow what i mean) and others higher than dance based groups. vocal based soloists could be more hands on with their crowd work since they have more freedom to do things their way and not get tied down by the dance steps. you could also feel it on vocal based groups like nmixx, kiof, fifty-fifty and others but most free adlibs goes down the drain when they need to add in dance steps. dance steps leads to needing to add vocal MR, hence less freedom to really make on the spot free adlibs.. meanwhile more experienced and established vocal based soloists like iu could be free of this limits.. given time and experience, gyubin would also be able to pull off on the spot free adlibs. she also has the charms for it.. but they really should pull writers for her, and seriously consider if shes interested on writing her own songs.... one of the biggest advantage of iu had and have, is her ability to write her own songs.. that not only pulls out quality but also a more authentic feel from the artist. day6 is also a big example of this. alexa as well and other vocal based soloists.
