- I have know Alex for some time. Started when he was working for Olympus now OM Systems. He has always had a great passion for astronomy and he is very busy doing it all the time. He especially like solar work and naturally I had to ask him about his approach to imaging the eclipse.
He also had some great and interesting new products there to show. Mainly their two new strain wave mounts. Both look like excellent additions to the industry. There is also a new scope but it was not there at NEAF.
Finally, someone talking about the new mounts in detail. Thanks!
Glad to help!
Im diggin that new mount. I wish I could have gone to that. I hope your feeling better to brother, take care.
Good market to enter, hope more does so price can go down even further. I'm in market for new mount atm so its very fun with new alternatives.
33 lbs on that little guy!! love it
You're doing great interviews at NEAF!
Thank you.
1:19 "we're the first mount company to build strain wave mounts", correct me if I'm wrong but skywatcher is so late to the strain wave party
Yeah, I thought that comment was really weird, considering ZWO makes them for several years....and plenty of cheap Chinese knockoffs are out there also.
@@TheAnhydrite zwo, pegasus, ioptron, rainbow astro, those chinese version. They're literally the last
I thought rainbow Astro were first then zwo made them popular at a lower price point.. but still thanks for these great interviews your doing at NEAF for those of use unable to attend this is fantastic effort.
He meant to say "mass market" mount company.
Great looking mount . But i had to laugh at that statement. When your nearly last. Just tell the market your the first😂
👍👍👍
Thanks for the interview! What’s the new telescope you reference in your description that wasn’t there?
It's f2 but Alex said it still needs work before it's released. It was shown in Japan I think.
@@TheNarrowbandChannel Interesting! Thank you again!
harmonic drive it's the future? possible...Thanks for share!!!
Given the way things are one they are the future.
That mount sounds exactly the same as my EQ6-R, so its not exactly silent, but I will probably get one though.
But much much quieter.
Keep in mind I put the mic right on it. It's in reality very quiet. Something I love about these mounts.
@@TheNarrowbandChannel I do like the look of those mounts Ben, especially the one with the duel scope mounting plates, I think it was the 100i, to be honest I've only ever used Sky Watcher mounts and they've never let me down so I'm more or less decided on buying an SWG mount from them, if it's really quiet all the better. Thanks again for the heads up on this.
@@TheNarrowbandChannel Right. Comparing the loudness of 2 mounts via video is very hard to do. Tons of variables involved, like the mic distance u already mentioned.
What happend with the brand Meade? Are they still making telescope's?
Yes but orion owns them now and they do not ever go to shows.
Are they still making sct's? Because alot of shops don't have them "out of order"
I have never in my life seen a telescope mount a simple looking as these by skywatcher. they scream 1955.
A design point that a lot can learn from
@@TheNarrowbandChannel even the fit and finish is boring.
