Comedy takes things that are dark and scary and it de-fangs them so they are rendered powerless in your mind. It's not laughing at the crime, it's laughing at the criminal, and once you've laughed at them, they can't hurt you anymore.

As a survivor I found the SNL parody comforting and hilarious. Seeing the predator (not the victims) being mocked, ridiculed AND (hopefully) held accountable empowers me. I can't speak for anyone else.

It affects victims in feeling like a community is standing behind them mocking and degrading their abuser. Which does feel awesome

I liked the SNL sketch because it wasn't making fun of the survivors at all- it was a great sketch because it was making fun of R. Kelly's insane defences and deflections, and how absurd it is that anyone would take him seriously. They're not kicking down on the powerless, they're punching up on the powerful, which is what satire is supposed to be.
Exactly. SNL did not mention one of the victims, but just poked at the way R. Kelly made himself look stupid and the time leading up to Kelly's explosion.
