Josky yeah another disingenuous conservative - originalists believe that Congress should legislate for evolving societal norms so they can strike them down as unconstitutional - idiocy
Very interesting and enjoyable podcast with a legal expert guest giving insights into Judge Kavanaughs constitutional interpretation influences and his judicial formation .
Didn't Richard Epstein say, "My son was talking about going to law school, so I told him I would pay for you to go to any law school except for Yale, because you cannot get a good legal education there."
A riveting discussion! We need to see more of John Yoo and listen to his insightful commentary in the national coverage of the news and legal controversy.
@@Sphere723 The older I get the more I see the need for "enhanced interrogation techniques" lol, even though I protested GWB like a flaming liberal. Truly, it if wasn't for Trump and how triggered the communists got I would never know the extent to which the liberals have been infiltrated so I'm glad for that, and proud to call myself not only a libertarian as always, but a conservative (albeit a non-religious one)
I'm opposing the nomimation of Brett Kavanaugh because he is not conservative enough. He sounds like he will, like Kennedy, be the swing vote on the Court.
I believe that Judge Kavanaugh is a great pick up for his Supreme Court Justice position. Although I never thought about that Supreme Court Justice has anything to do with right or left side of things, but I believe they make judgement by the principles, honesty, fairness and decency by the judge’s role of the nature to suit for their positions. Also he is young enough to concentrate, review and judge by principles and other concerns together. Together again for America’s greatness and unity by principles, learning experiences from mistakes.
If Trump gets to appoint another judge, especially to replace a flaming liberal now on the court, I'll dance the happy dance. If he gets to appoint 2, I don't think I'll be able to stop screaming to the sky lords looking like a liberal on the day after election, but in elation as opposed to pain :)
Very curious as to why the latest video has had comments disabled, the Austrailia and US counterparts. It seemed like a pointless video to be frank. I understand that the current administration is filled with Hoover institute members and therefore important, but why the facade of a video?
Its easy to walk around a college campus and get students and faculty to sign a petition. One observance that is clear. Not everyone approached will sign a petition. A university has a large student population and to get a couple of hundred students to sign a petition is easy and can be done in a day.
Chad Waldron But shouldn't Yale Law students be intelligent enough to understand what they're signing? Especially when it claims Kavanaugh is going to kill people?
The "Founders", Federalists, Anti-Federalists, persons of diverse opinion, were not "Originalists" under any understanding. Ergo, this is a "living" move. Not to say persons who construe Orginalist, as does Scalia, to mean the wild view that what the "People" understood the Constitution to mean at the time of the Framing was "Law". The People were Represented, and Article Three understood "saying what the law is" in no way corresponding to Scalia's post-Hart Fuller world view. Cf. James Wilson's writings. Yoo is memorably awesome as ever, but radically in need of revision and shallow in his knowledge. The dimension under this, founding the above statement, is philosophic, concerning the Positive Law and the Natural Law in the transformation of Modernity out of the Classical world in which the Founders still moved at the edge of Enlightenment Reason, not Steven Pinker pseudo-Enlightenment Science = "Fact" and Scalia "Value", cf. the work of Leo Strauss. The Founders knew nothing of "value judgments" of which Scalia constantly spoke. dixi
Interesting thing about the soulless GOP hacks: they are direct, to the point and interesting to listen to, and perhaps more capable than the dem hacks. This is an interesting conversation,. But seriously, hearing torture memo architect John Yoo complaining about him not doing as well as other classmates just blows my mind. Seriously dude.
I enjoyed this so much. Thank you for this channel. I am a Democrat, and a liberal, and I really enjoy this program.
Excellent and insightful as always. This show is a bright light against the fog of dissonance that is UA-cam.
I live in Ukraine and I've never been in the US but I find this conversation quite interesting!
loved it. thank you for the civil and intelligent conversation.
Please keep uploading these conversations to the podcast. Really enjoy them.
Ahh, was craving a normal episode of Uncommon Knowledge for a while now.
John Yoo is the man!
Josky yeah another disingenuous conservative - originalists believe that Congress should legislate for evolving societal norms so they can strike them down as unconstitutional - idiocy
Ok I'm married and happily so, but Jon is my secret crush 😂😂
He is so smart
The best analysis I've heard
It's not ridiculous that Yale students [edit: students today] would write such a letter...
it's expected.
Host: you are a graduate of yale law school
Yoo: DONT TELL ANYONE
Host: ITS TOO LATE
😂
Love these vids.
Very good and informative interview.
Yoo looks so much more serious than he sounds. Love both the men.

I didn't know John Yoo was so BASED. Excellent interview mixed in with the right amount and quality of banter and tangents.
ShaneusSnake Based Asian = Basian
We need more rational people like him.
I've never heard john yoo before, hes got himself a new fan :)
I love your videos so much.
Nice chat. We will most likely have Brett with us for quite some time, so I appreciate the chance to learn more about him.
Love this

Excellent Conversation...

What a bright legal mind, a very sound and reasoned man giving annswers that make sense. Great work!
Why is this guy not on the court
He provided the legal justification for GWB's torture program.

LOL, why don't you explain that to the democrats behind the Ford smear campaign?
You do see the irony.
He may have started that way, but man, after what they did to him I think he'll be an originalist and say fuck it to popularity.
Excellent....
Have a bit of hope for our country now. Kavanaugh will be an excellent Justice. Just need to get Congress to get in line with the Constitution.
Trump should appoint this man for something
In retrospect, Justice Kavanaugh voted to overturn Roe v Wade in 2022 lol
John Yoo is awesome. Great interview.

Every judge with principles and honesty is a god-send!

I realy like this John Yoo character!
3 more to go...
Yoo grading Kavanaugh 40:58
Here's the link to the video of the 70 women supporting Kavanuagh.ua-cam.com/video/ATNAUt-Uefo/v-deo.html
John Yoko would be a brilliant conservative Supreme Court Judge.
53:43 lol never seen Pete without a suit
I hope John Yoo replaces Ginsburg.
As author of the infamous Torture Memos during GWB's first term, I doubt that would happen. It would be an insult.
So we can expect Justice Yoo to replace RGB, looking forward to it. He knows as we all should that the Supreme Court should not be making new law.

Killing people,...? Just think about that for a little while?

Scalia had great opinions but his writing was awful to read.
Not too sure what is this enormous welfare state. By gini or comparing to vikings... where is it?

The tax cuts already killed me. Sucks cuz now I have to vote democrat.
How are tax cuts bad? You prefer american industry to be less competitive and for the government to control a greater portion of the country's wealth?
