I was 8 at the time and for some reason the magic truly hit me in the VHS tapes I got for that season. I have a strong memory of the Champios league VHS the club brought out and remember always thinking that Brugge sending off for Hately seemed harsh. Brilliant memories though and the more I hear Hately and others talk about the cheating by Marseilles owner etc th more I wonder what could have been. An Undefeated season as Quadruple winners, now that would have been unbelievable.👍🍺🇬🇧
I loved every single minute of that famous season,,actually the 8 stars on the champions league logo is to represent the first 8 clubs who took part in the very first revamped European cup..i was 13 at the time and will never forget those nights at ibrox

I firmly believe that time was a turning point from the old rangers era to the new even the kits started to get better along with the stadium and TV coverage.

Nope. I disagree. Yep Bernard Tapie bribed the referee 100% and it is a disgrace but I want Rangers to win the Champions League on the pitch and not to be handed some kind of award decades later. WE ARE THE PEOPLE 🏴 🇬🇧

To think if we'd just got one more goal either at Ibrox or the Velodrome we'd have been in the final...Marseille cheating notwithstanding (although I think Tapie did time for the previous season's bribery).

Allegedly, there was 1 players on the opposing team who refused a bribe and he never played in the top league again. Lately clearly feels strongly about it still and his account of it hasn't changed. McCall saying the Moskow players celebrating a draw and knocked out lime they won the cup is suspicious also but it's done now anyway. Unless someone opened a big investigation, we will never know. Great memories though👍🍺
Stuart McCall was your typical Yorkshire terrier who would make sure that the opposition midfield didn't really get a moment's peace on the ball. Hateley's nickname from Celtic fans was Atilla the Hun, here he was this tall long-haired figure, a brilliant target man and foil for Ally McCoist but the close control he had with his feet really couldn't be underestimated. Richard Gough was another outstanding player for Rangers back then, and David Robertson signed from Aberdeen was a great left back. But the 2 players who really took the club to another level were of course Brian Laudrup and Paul Gascoigne.
Remember walking under the flyover at shieldhall roundabout, me with my Celtic top on and the Rangers minibus with the full first team on board stopped at the lights right at me, well I took my chance and gave them all the finger and they all went crazy especially Gordon Durie the w@nker.
I still am amazed that how can Marseille be stripped of their own league title and not the Champions League that year????? ohhhhhh UEFA!!!!!!!! and we know how they turned out!!!!!! Milan should have been playing Rangers that season no doubt about it!
So Marseille should have been booted for financial irregularities... yet Rangers were liquidated for financial irregularities. Loved watching that season, and feel sorry for the players and fans, but it's a bit of pot calling kettle black.
