Henry Cavill Breaks Down The One Shot Fight Scene | The Witcher | Netflix
/ @netflixbehindthestreams
Destiny brought them together. Dangerous forces are trying to tear them apart. Geralt and Yennefer fight to keep Ciri safe as war brews on the Continent.
Petition for Henry Cavill to make his own adaptation of the Witcher. He was clearly the most passionate person on that set.
Dont knock the other actors. The shit was coming from writers and producers.
@@thomasjones4570 I know, and I totally agree. I think the cast overall is amazing actually. Joey Batey was born to play Dandelion, he's also a bit of a nerd and knows the source material very well, and it's obvious from the interviews that he's passionate about this show too. I even love all the actors who don't match the book descriptions of their characters, they're all very talented. Just replace the writers and maybe don't let Netflix itself anywhere near.
Yes!!!
I support Henry do his own series or videos.
I can even watch him take the same actors as main characters Ciri and Yennefer, even the Bard.
@@thomasjones4570 difference is that Henry is the only character who cared about the work and voiced his displeasure. The other actors just suckef it up. Hence why nobody cares about the rest of the cast
@@thomasjones4570?? He only said a true fact, Henry is by far the most passionate of The Witcher
Henry Cavill is so conscientious about all the aspects coming together--the technical, the storytelling, the audience POV. Would love to see him direct something. Will miss him terribly as Geralt.
He will with Warhammer
Warhammer, his go to hobby too,
He is growing his beard? What warhammer characters have big beards?
@@xaby996 That was for a film he'd just finished shooting with Guy Ritchie.
@@xaby996Trajann Valoris?
Netflix dropped the ball by losing Henry Cavill. EVERY interview I see of him talking about Geralt you can clearly see how much passion and dedication he brings to this role. This will be my last season of Witcher. Thank you, Henry! I will really miss these cool fighting scenes.
There was a dispute and they probably saw an opportunity to avoid paying his huge wages by backing the other side and firing him for breach of contract or something but now they will lose so much more than they would have gained not to mention he's doing all these press releases and following the obligation of the contract so they probably still have to pay his full amount lmao
@@judechauhan6715rumors
Consider this; what if Amazon was already reaching out to him about their Warhammer 40k series? Not just as an actor, but as a producer? Knowing Henry the way we do, I can believe him leaving for that opportunity.
@@VivaLaDnDLogs By the sound of things the Amazon show was more of a short term "come to us instead" because after Netflix so ungracefully fumbled free bag now Amazon just want to tie him down short term while they figure out a longer term project for him in the meantime purely to keep him from their rivals hands because they really can afford to spend all this money sinking Netflix and end up with almost a monopoly on streaming.
I loved Cavill's slip of the tongue "I really wanted to... we really wanted to..." when he talked about the signs.
Out of all the videos I have seen on UA-cam about Henry Cavill in regards to Superman and the Witcher, all the comments that I have read, the most common thing that strikes me is the "respect" that this actor has earned throughout the years, as a professional, humble, polite actor and human being that he is. Well done Henry, well deserved !
Netflix, can you guys break down the writing process? I need a good laugh.
😂😂😂
LMAOO
At this point, anyone who uses "bad writing" as an attack against the show is an idiot self-reporting.
The books aren't some untouchable masterpieces that make the show look like a children's tale; they are sloppy and pretty overrated.
The writing in the show is not THAT bad.
@@johnhenry1190 Dear Friend, It was only a matter of time before somebody on the internet was offended by my comment. I hope that I am able to restore your trust in me by continuing to narrate my sorrow to you for a whole episode in the corniest way possible.
Your Friend,
Yennefer.
" Here we have the Patriarchy Smasher writing utter drivel. As you'd expect, with that nickname. "
Liam Hemsworth is a fine actor and much of his stuff I like, but no one, and I mean NO ONE can match Henry Cavill's genuine enthusiasm, passion, and dedication that brought Geralt to life in live-action. You can tell he and the stunt team actually cared, not just for making an entertaining fight, but they wanted to display Geralt's character and show him at his very best. Netflix only has themselves to blame for letting HC walk away from the series.
Yeah Cavill to me is definitely the Witcher no question. Can Hemsworth do it? I have no doubt, he is a good actor but I don't think the Cavill charisma and passion will be there. And then the writing is dreadful the direction of the show is poor regardless if Liam Hemsworth can do it or not it's terrible how bad this season as been, save for the fights and Henry's presence. This show is loosing my interest now.
Show is dead. Who cares who can do what? Irrelevant.
I hear Liam is diving into the books pretty well. I'm not so quick to dismiss him. Yes Henry was phenomenal but im looking to give Liam a chance.
People opting to nor even give it a chance is like children not trying new foods out of stubbornness
@tlRaveslave or they are reasonable upset because they have already connected to an awesome take on Geralt by Henry cavil. And a man who fought with the writers to stop changing everything and keep to the source material that is the reason why everyone loves the witcher. While Liam is just going to be teachers pet while he looks for another wife to cheat on. Hmm yeah those stubborn fans
Liam is NOT a fine actor, he's below average and I bet you can't name one movie or project he's been in for the last 10yrs that's garnered any success at all.
Damn if only the writers and showrunners cared as much as Henry does.
Hell yeah man it woulda been an easy hit every season - fans will love it and actors, including Henry, will enjoy taking parts in this world famous franchise
It’s such a shame if Netflix just used The Witcher franchise as a tool to advertise their crazy ideas while butchering everything fans loved. Man, this is another form of violence
Very nice choreographed fight scene. The camera operator deserves an award.
Truly one of the (few) highlights of the season so far.
The last interview that Henry Cavill had with Josh Horowitz was very telling. Henry would never criticize anything outright, but between the lines he speaks volumes.
I think when asked about Season 3 the only thing he said was that there were some good fight scenes because he brought Wolfgang Stegemann back. He didn’t waste any breath on the story or any other parts of the season 😅
And that applause he got when we thought he was coming back as Superman
Great point!
*At this point being a fan of the witcher books Idc if the writing is shitty i just wanna see Henry Cavill as Geralt rivia*
One last ride boys. I look forward to seeing his WarHammer 40k series on Prime
Me too, im watching this season just for him and then im out
Henry cares that the writing is shitty. He is an super fan of the books and has seen the direction the show writers want to take the show and has said absolutely not. I think we are going to see less of the fighting and darkness the current story line has and more lovey dovey nonsense as they try to develop the relationship between Geralt and Yenn. I really hope they don't decide to find a way for Yenn to have a baby and she will get pregnant with some ultimate Witcher/mage baby that's the key to getting peace for the continent. It's fine if you are a teen writing Fan Fiction, not so much if you are a group of adults writing a Netflix show that is supposed to he based on a book series and game.
@@kahlan4106 They will see some watching because he's still there and then greenlight another season and we'll see what happens to the viewing figures for that lol
Well, I don't. Ahahabaha
I hope Henry brings Wolfgang on for Warhammer! They seem to work together so well and their end product is stunning.
i'm starting to miss Geralt already from the next season onwards
X2
Not geralt its Henry cavil
I am starting to miss the rest of the series because if it is not Henry Cavill in it, for me, it is done. #NoHenryNoWitcher
There probably won't be a next season and if there is, it's going to suck. No one's going to watch without him.
Your gonna watch that shit? Hard nope from me 😂 Not taking anything away from how great the other actors/actresses have been throughout the first 3 seasons but Geralt is the Witcher. And HC is Geralt. Show is dead after season 3 and there's no one to blame but themselves
Here's the thing. Henry is such a professional and a good dude that we'll never hear him speak badly of the show. His career is going to be huge. And he deserves it.
When I heard that Henry Cavill wasn’t returning for season 4 because of “sources” that said he was “too difficult to work with,” I automatically knew it was because he’s very attentive to the details and probably knows the Witcher franchise better than all other people he works with. Thus, I wouldn’t be surprised if he aimed to perfect the craft, and I completely understand and back that. The man is also known to play video games, so I’m sure he also looks at the show from a gamer lens, and is conscious of what the Witcher reader/gamer community would appreciate in terms of accuracy. I personally love when creators keep things consistent. The Last of Us tv show was a great example of that.
Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely actors who are very difficult to work with, but we need to stop labeling the people with an actual talent for this stuff as difficult people, and start listening to their advice. They simply know their stuff.
I already see Henry as a director, but I would love to see him step fully into that sphere. I know he’ll create magic!
I just don't understand how Netflix can let Henry Cavill walk away from this series. At this point just end the Witcher with Cavill.
I know there's a lot we all want to say about Henry Cavill and this show in general, but it's nice to see - and give credit to - some of the objectively awesome work done by the crew. This fight was excellent and you can see the deep respect Henry and Wolfgang have for the skill of everyone involved in it.
Yea while Henry Cavill does a lot of heavy lifting for the show there are a ton of very talented people involved in bringing it all together. I particularly like the effort that went in to truly making this a one shot - I've recently seen people claiming they're doing one shots with those cheat cuts (i.e. Extraction 2) and it REALLY is not the same, at all.
The Witcher will end with this season for me and many others. Henry Cavill's passion is so awesome, and I think he was born for this role. You can't just replace the lead actor halfway through a show - it's like replacing Jennifer Lawrence in the third Hunger Games movie, replacing Daniel Radcliffe halfway through Harry Potter, or replacing Viggo Mortensen in the third The Lord of the Rings.
Yup. It is sad
It's so good to see the passion of Henry Cavill for this role.
I do believe Henry might have a decent shot at a second career as an educator-perhaps in film. Great interview.
The fight scenes have always been amazing on the show. Blaviken and now this....very very good. Really enjoyed watching it, its obvious how much work goes into it. Kudos to Henry and Wolfgang 👏❤
Amazing. How could Henry not be valued with his attitude and knowledge. Such talent. Great to see this discussion from them both.
Seriously such a joy watching these two's joy in their work just come off the screen in this interview
What a passionate actor.. He did what he could to keep his word to us.. Thank you..
Absolutely fantastic! I love hearing them talk about this fight scene and also seeing a bit of the training that went into it. Henry and Wolfgang are both incredible and collaborate so well. I'm looking forward to the big fight scenes in the next episode, though I'm already sad that this will be the last time we'll see their combined work on The Witcher (hopefully they'll work together on other projects in the future!). And Thank You to Henry Cavill for being our Geralt - no one will ever be able to replace him in this show!
Cavill comes across as a good sort. I like how passionate he is about sci-fi and fantasy projects. It's a lot easier to take him seriously in these kind of roles when he knows so much about the lore.
Loved the use of Geralt's signs in the fight. In any situation where you've got one person fighting many, there's always that question "why don't they all rush in at once", and the answer is because any human fighter would be massacred and that doesn't look good. Using the signs as a way of temporarily stunning larger groups attacking all at once so Geralt can then cut them down while they're on the back foot is brilliant.
I miss him already!!! OMG!!!
You're NOT alone in this.. Miss him already as well.
Thank you, Henry Cavill and Wolfgang Stegemann for your explanation of the one-shot scene. Always love to see the BHTS with Henry and company on any project.
There was so much absolute beauty in this scene because it’s rooted in reality. Yes, it’s a fantasy fight. Yes, as Henry pointed out it’s choreographed in a way that people can have breaks when in reality if you have an opening in a melee, you take it. But it was done SO well that you get lost in it and for anyone that’s done anything like this, I found myself actually enjoying this fight and not “critiquing” it until after I saw it the first time. Even then it was just 🤌.
Thanks z for your continuous love and support towards me ❤️
How long have you been a fan of mine??
This is incredibly interesting to watch and just confirms why Henry Cavill will be the only Witcher- he is so knowledgeable and so passionate about it. Thank you Henry for these 3 wonderful seasons. Thank you Wolfgang for creating incredible moments like this for us
I will never get enough of Henry being geralt. His expression his voice everything. Petition to make Henry showrun his own adaptation
Henry and Wolfgang need to work together again in Warhammer!!!
Aside from Henry's enthusiasm and compassion, I also love how passionate wolfgang is about the fight scenes, so much thought is put into them
Henry + Wolfgang = Dream Team! Wolfgang clearly brought a new level of action design to this season. They both clearly respect and inspire each other and that is where the real brilliance is!
Wow. The sheer technical ability and timing of everyone involved in that peice is truely amazing and so talented. Absolutely loved this when I first seen it. Why did does Henry have to be leaving. Absolutely gutted.
I remember watching the first episode of the season and being especially stunned by this scene. So well done, so beautiful and dynamic. Props to everyone involved, Henry, Wolfgang, all the stunt artists, the camera crew, everyone. It's really too bad that the writing and showrunning choices don't live up to this level of commitment. I feel back on Game of Thrones s8 where everything was gorgeous and stunning, the actors threw their best at the screen (at least, still the majority of them), and the writers/showrunners just pooped at the face of everyone involved (and yet somehow got all the awards lol 🙄 corruption does wonder!).
Anyway, wonderful scene. Liam Hemsworth has gigantic shoes to fill, not only because it's Henry Cavill level of stardom, but because of his sheer enthousiasm and passion he puts in what he does. Any solid show could somehow survive losing Henry, but the fact that he's clearly above in terms of dedication to the source material and to push the show further and further, will really hurt the show. I do think Anya Chalotra stepped up as the emotional tether this season with Yennefer, but will it be enough when one of Yennefer's biggest relationships will be completely changed?
I hope Wolfgang Stegemann will at least stick around for further seasons. However I'm pretty pessimistic about that, since it's literally Henry who convinced him to come back...
Netflix doesn’t deserve Henry
Thank you for your passion, Wolfgang & Henry! This fight scene was breathtakingly brilliant. LOVED the use of Quen. Couldn't stomach anything about else from the episode, the characters, storytelling, art direction... but this was pure fire.
What a great scene and a great actor! Cavill is a great nerd and should what a star should be.. love the craft, material and respects it. not everyone is a down to earth guy but he is.
I like these behind the scenes. It is really interesting to see how these are done. The part about the cameramans work was something I had never thought about. So that was great to know. It is not surprising but great to know how much time goes into preparing for these scens. Great job guys with the explanation. This was very enjoyable.🌹🌹🌹
Henry: we also have a igni here, I really want it to... euh.. WE really wanted to 🤓
Love his passion for the Witcher.
Henry Cavill: Hey guys, I was speaking with the lads on the stunt team and I think we should add an igni to the fight scene since Geralt is protecting Ciri and wouldn't hold anything back. It's a small thing, just a gesture between sword strikes. I know it's not in the script but I think the fans will love it, what do you think?
Netflix Writing Team: ............A what?
Henry Cavill: ....Right. Never mind, I'm just gonna do it.
@@Syryu 😂🙈
@@Syryu I dont think this is Igni though 😅 Looks like a regular Aard to me.
That clip they showed definitely was not igni lmao
He hasn't watched the episode probably, just realized his igni turned into aard 😂
that scene was probably one of my all time faviorate fight scenes ever. I on purpose LOOKED for flaws and everything about it was so incredibly well done. I have studied sword fighting and i often have to Seriously suspend my disbelief in order to enjoy scenes like this. but the only suspension i needed to do was explain in the story. the speed and strength of geralt the use of ard and the heleoscope (i thought it was quen at first i havent read the books yet) being used to stagger and block what world normally be unblockable and overwhelming. given all of geralts buffs that is likely close to how it would look. realistically everyone would be covered in alot more blood too but yknow. genuinely INCREDIBLE work.
It's truly remarkable how you can have this actor and turn his character into a support for what's supposed to be his story. Sublime work by Henry and everyone of course Wolfgang, but I will not be a viewer beyond season 3.
Loved this and seeing the depth of knowledge Henry Cavil on the material and his passion for delivering great action. Kudos to the entire team, brilliant
Henry (+ Stegemann & crew) are great.
A good Geralt fight scene is the one thing I actually looked forward to in season 3.
Too bad about the plot/ script...
Maybe I'll catch some more Geralt scenes, but I'm not really interested in this show as a whole anymore.
Very nice choreographed fight scene. The camera operator deserves an award.. i'm starting to miss Geralt already from the next season onwards.
That Cavill guy’s enthusiasm to make a quality product that fans will like sure is hard to miss. I hope no one tries to use that positivity against him one day.
I wish we could have seen more of Henry fighting as Geralt , definitely doing more signs especially Yrden and Axii. Shame he's gone. Not going to be the same unfortunately 😢
Fire the damned show runners already. You can still salvage this remarkable piece of art. STOP HIRING WRITERS WHO HATE THE SOURCE MATERIAL AND THINK THEY KNOW BETTER.
as soon as I saw this scene I knew I needed this video talking about it. what an amazing shot. love the fight scenes in the witcher and can't wait to see the last of them in vol 2.
Honestly, so incredible. These guys are so passionate and talented. Absolutely fanstastic. I will miss Henry as Geralt. Havent decided if I will continue watching with Hemsworth. It's tough.
Absolutely love the amount of shoutouts to the camera op. That dude went hard.
Side note: I’m excited for any fight scenes in Warhammer now. It’s obvious that he’s going to hire this guy, his team, and the camera op.
there is a great connection between these 2 men, love to watch that. Wolfgang seem like a really great guy too
Geralt's action scenes are once again great and convincing that he is one of the most powerful people in existence. They exude incredible confidence in everything he does, he's incredibly charismatic and charming when he needs to be. Also, he can be very funny when he needs to be. Season 3 of The Witcher is at its best - but only when Cavill is on screen, and especially in the scenes between him and Ciri (Freya Allen). Such scenes bring your emotional core to life and the biggest reason to invest in your story. 0:14
We love you Henry, but this is the final season
The reason I watched the first season of Witcher was that incredible one take fight scene in the first episode. The reason I got excited for this third season was again this fight. That's what we need! We want good story moments. But we need good fights too. Henry understood that and he gave us what we wanted. He WILL be missed. Good work Henry!
Dear Netflix, fall to your knees, give this man anything and make a great show for 4 more seasons and make all the money. Or keep doing what you are doing and the show does in three episodes.
The Geralt and Superman we deserve but assholes decided otherwise. Hopefully Henry is our next 007.
There will never be another Witcher without Henry!
Absolutely mindblowing. There's no one like HC
My favorite fight scene in the entire series
Incredible behind the scenes on this fight, loved it.
Wolfgang is one of the few people that don’t look tiny next to Henry. I loved that fight scene in Blaviken.
Thanks z for your continuous love and support towards me ❤️
How long have you been a fan of mine??
Henry has such a charimstic presence and really commands the room... How do some people do that..
Gentleman Henry❤
probably the only two that actually try to give their best in this show. Congrats Henry and Wolfgang!
Just look at his attitude. Passion for performance and recording to be purely perfect to embody the character.-CLEAR AND LOUD NO HENRY NO THE WICHER
Henry Cavill was the only reason I was watching. He carried the show and the fact that they ignore someone who is a fan of Witcher that they have on set makes me hope everyone ignores the next season.
I was realy moved how profesional and enagaged Henry was as Gertalt. Thank You Henry Cavill!
F*** Y** NetfliKS!
Geralt !! And fy too!
They showed an "Igni" without actually showing the Igni
Him wearing Top Tank and working so hard & sweating is the most hostess thing ever🥵
Every single episode of the show should have one of these scenes. I still think about the season 1 Blaviken stab fest so much. 👌🏻
The work you did for this secene was amazing and watching it on screen was something that drew me in and gave us fans satisfaction. Swords, signs, power, and intent = Geralt of Rivia!!
gj Wolfgang, fight scenes are the best thing out of whole show
Personally, I would like to see Cavill direct and adapt a movie from games. Pretty sure he is capable of doing so just from analyzing his interviews.
It's just magnificent , beautiful team work
Can we make a miracle happen and have Henry back? I'm watching the first 5 episodes but I already miss him
This was a brilliant battle sequence. I enjoyed it that much i had to watch it multiple times. Loved it.
Superman ❤❤
Henry claimed to be committed to 5 seasons then suddenly quits after S3. Henry doesn't seem like a person who would go back on his word so obviously there were creative differences and everyone knows it, such a shame.
And you let him go . WOW...!!
Imagine losing this guy over incompetent writers. Why is management in most companies made of utter failure?
It’s this obsession in nearly every corporation (inc the Entertainment industry) with making the biggest possible ‘short term’ profits. Very few think in the long-term, which is why most products today (of any type) are generally of poor quality. The Entertainment industry has been on the decline ever since large multinational companies bought Film Studios/TV Comps, because they saw them a big cash cows. They didn’t care about the Art or the quality, just how much they could make from every movie or tv show. This constant obsession with the quickest and easiest buck, is what’s destroying what’s left. Most of the genuine artists have been driven out, so unlike before there is no distinction between a movie studio/tv company and any other corporation inc following the other obsession of today - the Woke agenda.
You can hire a good stunt coordinator but not a good writer?
Wolfgang Stegemann was brought on by Henry Cavill, who knew him from Mission Impossible. Which really explains it all.
I love knowing these behind-the-scenes "details." #HenryCavill, thank you for your commitment, and your hard work. #HenryCavill IS #TheWitcher, the one and only #GeraltOfRivia
Henry is so handsome, very detailed and breaks it all down for you ❤
I love that the "White Wolf" fight scenes are coordinated with a dude named Wolfgang. Like could it be more perfect? The fights in season 3 were soooo good. I am incredibly sad to see Henry Cavill move on, but I can understand it. I just will greatly miss seeing his dedication to the source material and the character, and the dynamics of him with the other amazing actors in this show. It is rare, so for now, I will be content with 3 amazing seasons.
Haven't played the game yet, but loving the show, this was a great fight scene and getting their views behind the scenes was a good touch 💪🏼
Thank you so much Henry Cavill
The writers and showrunners should never be allowed to ruin a show again
Thanks for your continuous love and support towards me ❤️
How long have you been a fan of mine??
I saw The scene and that was amazing.
Beim Ansehen der Szene ist es mir direkt aufgefallen, dass es keinen Schnitt gab und war beeindruckt. Erst jetzt sehe ich dieses Video. Gut gemacht, werde Henry vermissen!
It was Very Interesting to see Henry and Wolfgang talk together and through how they made this segment of film!! Thanks so Much!!
Lauren Hissrich: "Hey Liam, have you read the books?"
Liam Hemsworth: "Nope."
Lauren Hissrich: "Have you played the games?"
Liam Hemsworth: "Nah."
Lauren Hissrich: "Perfect, you're in."
Henry will make an interesting director.
Henry Cavill is a real man. And I appreciate that in a world where that is now being threatened.
"Not only can Netflix break down the writing process but it also can let us down by breaking down the entire show and leaving out the actors who were perfect for their roles. "
Superb action scene. Well done!
Watching this is almost bitter-sweet, all the work that went in to CERTAIN parts of this season and the show as a whole, the dedication from Henry, it definitely paid off, as much as it could have. Though it seems all for nothing as this show is destined to get the axe, was it worth it?
Give us back Henry.
No Eason to continue watching Witcher without Cavill
This just highlights why Henry's departure is gonna hurt the show so much. He's in the writers room fighting it out he's leading the charge on stunt choreo taking so much care for it all but now we've got..... Liam
