    One of the greatest final boss themes of all time in an underrated gem like this. u_______________u;;;;
This song is more than just a bopping final boss theme, it's also got phases for (The Forgotten King)'s story.
    Power.
    Order.
    Fallen Kingdoms.
    Sadness.
    Lunacy.
    Desperation.
    Love.
    Hate.
    Time.
One of my favorite things in this track besides the amazing chorus, is the clock. Though it's not used a lot, it's used in integral moments. The music takes a tragic despairing dip... then...
the first of the clock is used in @1:43, a single time, it sent a haunting chill down my spine. You can feel it manifesting quielty in the background, then it starts to accelerate in @1:53, as if (The Forgotten King)'s heart is being drawn back in the fight, despite his turmoil.
This low descent in the tone complements the second phase of the fight, where he sits hopelessly in his barrier with the towers conjured. The solemn look in his face.
The music resumes the normal pacing, but of course, we reach a delicious change in @3:25, instead of meeting a decent we meet an ascent, acceleration!
(The Forgotten King) and the Investigators, going head to head as time itself begins to distort and all of their abilities begin to melt away with the memories. This goes into a wonderful climax fitting of a dramatic finishing move, I can envision a movie playing in my head during this part.
    Gah.
    Best song ever.

This is a great unpacking of the song, thank you for writing it. I've listened to it countless times and didn't catch some of the smaller details, especially the ticking of the clock in it. I think the only thing I'd add that I feel really strongly from the track is an immutable sense of pride.
      (Obviously massive spoilers)
The first time I encountered him, I just read this as an incredible and epic encounter against an opponent that was a complete mystery to me. And now that I've seen the context, what really strikes me about it is something Narhan asks aloud upon reaching him: why is he getting in the way?
I feel like it's this track that really has the answer. Condemning the man to this personalized hell of reliving death by Lucy's hands over and over (maybe it's worse when he wins,) stripped of any purpose or hope for an escape...still hasn't broken him. No matter how many times he goes through it, he doesn't utter a word to Lucy or the investigators. He goes on quietly standing in their way, facing eternal torment with unassailable dignity. And this song captures the intense, twisted, and heroic impression he leaves in the process. The frenetic guitar and relentless drums give me a sense of "fierceness you can't keep up with," and the choir backs that up with an epic sense of scale, something like "everything you've done so far has led up to him. He's unlike any opponent you've faced before. Make this play-through count."
And like you pointed out, when the song slows down, it doesn't feel like it's giving in--there's a strong sense of exhaustion and desperation, but also a, "I haven't been beaten yet" building up to the resurgence you described. The clock ticking such a haunting detail, it's like a reminder of some kind of purpose he's supposed to have in this world, even if it's a meaningless one--any reason at all is enough to get him to stand back up. He refuses to lose quietly, and the game has demonstrated that no imaginable circumstance in the world can take that from him.
Also, "End of Light" is SUCH a choice name when the main character's name is etymologically, "of light."

@@mabel8124 Where have you been all my life? Ahah~ I'm always happy to meet more English speaking fans of this game. uwu"
This song just screams all sorts of emotions, mostly Clyne's, but the fight itself has its values too.
And like you said, I mean, canonically, Azar even mentions that Lucy DID freeze at the King in one of the loops, meaning he did kill her... His own [. . . .] with his own hands...
He keeps an aloof air around Azar, about being able to play this role for eternity, after some thousand years he's become used to it... I remember one of his older lines mentioning he's just doing what he has to.
He can't control his body because of the devices in his armor. Kept conscious through all of it.
But I think deep down he still feels a deep hatred for Azar and the pain is driving him mad.
.. Huuu... The clock in the song, it breaks, it fixes, he's doing his best for himself and for us. I can't wait... I can't wait to see how this game ends! It's so short but it's made me feel so many things; the storytelling and music are top notch! Glad my analysis was fun for you. If you ever wanna talk Chrono Ark, I'm "Charon" in the (un)official Discord. :eyes:
      Ping me any time!
Here's a challenge, how about you unpack "Hope for Existence"? There's a few emotions there I've got yet to write about! I wanna see how you feel about it first!
