Hot damn, it isn't even actually listening. they just put a cheap phone running android and played videos. The casing is clearly 3D printed, I could go make this right now. I think the problem with the tape is the fact that it can barely stick to a 3D printed surface as the print resolution is to rough to get much contact with the tape...
Why not embed little neodymium magnets into pre-made cavities during the 3D print to hold the front on in the prototype? Being a prototype and having to be opened all the time... why use tape in the first place?
What the fuck, why didn't they just implement google's speech api ??? It's even cheap for commercial use in this case... cloud.google.com/speech/pricing And why they didn't clean the prototype and why they didn't use like audacity to cancel out the background noises.. damn
They did use audacity to cancel out street noise. That's why the original video is titled " - No Noise" you can obviously still hear it but its definitely been muted.
I wondered about these things too, because even with my limited knowledge I could've made this update video 10x better.. I guess the simple answer is: they don't fucking care. They're probably already planning their next scam, so most of the time and resources are needed there 😅
My theory for the constant sound that's going off in the background is that they're doing some crazy convoluted workaround to use Google's voice recognition API. I believe that Google's voice recognition API requires that sound to be played when it starts listening for a voice. This probably is so that unscrupulous app developers can't use Google's voice recognition API to snoop on their app users without requesting permission to use the microphone - and I believe this can't be defeated. I believe they're triggering the voice recognition API every few seconds - much like pressing that 'voice typing' button on your phone's keyboard. When Google's voice recognition detects silence, it closes the voice recognition session. When the Aido interface sees this, it automatically starts the voice recognition again, triggering that sound to go off. This is extremely dodgy and an absolutely insane way of going about doing it. No respectable app developer would EVER do this.
StopDrop&Retro I think that the speech-to-text part of it does work. In some of the scenes immediately after a verbal command is given, you can see a bar at the bottom of the screen saying "I heard: blah blah blah". I think this is a straight feed off of the Google voice recognition API, which is probably extremely simple to program in. It usually doesn't match with what the presenter is saying in the video, but I suspect that's just one of the huge number of continuity errors in the vid. So while it may be able to accurately know the text of what the person is saying, the main issue is that the Aido app has no way to INTERPRET the text that the Google voice API is passing along to it - which is clearly the most important (and most difficult to get right) part of a voice recognition system. I think they haven't even started devloping a voice command interpreter, so that's why they're using the mouse to do everything.
EpicLPer Dose your robot know the wifi code or enterprise software ??? Those things are requirements to have a decent kick starter otherwise said robot is more junk.

3D printed case, glued together with sticky tape, built in tablet, controlled by an operator in the background, looking and acting stupid. EPIC. Even this chick not seem to believe in what she is doing here.
Turns out, all of those beeps came from one of the Google's apps (Google Voice Keyboard, Google Now/Google Assistant). During post production, they slown down the video or turned down the pitch of the audio.
Tried some of the questions asked in the video in Google's assistant, if you want something a thousand times better than Aido for free just hold your phone's home button for a couple of seconds...
Plus, I am pretty sure that is just a program called openHAB (www.openhab.org/). It's open source software that is mainly meant to be on a tablet/montior on the wall that acts as a hub for things like elixir. I think they have just downloaded the android version, put a tablet (cough one like the presenter is holding) and stuck it to a lamp shade with a custom monitor mount on-top with a servo in the neck to turn around. Brilliant feat of engineering here!
I believe this cheap Chinese android tablet was sold for $9.99 for Black Friday. It even runs teamviewer.... also a cheapo 3D printer was $199 .... you can print his case yourself :)
Aido is still at it, they are currently "experiencing technical problems with the design of the mobility system" and have pushed back delivery to Q3 of 2020...

From 7:56 just watch her face folks, she does not believable a word she says, and she looks kinda regretful. You don't have to be be very observant to see that. Not even the demo woman has hope for this defunct robot ^_^
I wish she would make a statement, just a social media post to give some behind the scenes info
Indeed, if I where involved in this project I'd escape as fast as possible and protect my identity though
Hahaha well it is basically an expensive budget-pad on a selfie stick that may stalk you ^^
My mom just yelled at me for laughing so hard LMAO!
Marvin the Android is rolling in Alan Rickmans grave 😔
3D printed case, glued together with sticky tape, built in tablet, controlled by an operator in the background, looking and acting stupid. EPIC. Even this chick not seem to believe in what she is doing here.
If you look closely you can see it even says, "I don't see any faces" it's clearest around 4:38.
why does it felt like they just stick a cheap android tablet in there and called it a day.
That seems to be what they did, with a little bit of custom software and a background service to launch the apps and do voice synthesis
Two days actually..... the plumbers putty to make the housing took an extra day to dry.
The entire startup/crowdfunding scene condensed into a 15 minute video
"I am going to paint a picture of a clown. My dad has a computer. You are not invited to the party."
I believe this cheap Chinese android tablet was sold for $9.99 for Black Friday. It even runs teamviewer.... also a cheapo 3D printer was $199 .... you can print his case yourself :)
That's like a 30000% return on his investment. Not bad
I was going to get interviewed by this guy. Thank God it didn't work out and I found out this was a scam
Are you serious? I'd love to know the story behind that! Send the response here if you're not comfortable responding publicly: gaminggems@gmail.com
Love these type of videos! I love the reviews also but these are the icing on the cake! Keep it up and thanks!
Of course! Thank you for watching!
Wish you would post more, loving this channel so much. Full of information, but highly funny!
Just so you know the screen is just an android tablet. If you look at the nav bar at the bottom
Aido is still at it, they are currently "experiencing technical problems with the design of the mobility system" and have pushed back delivery to Q3 of 2020...
Aido's beep noise sounds like siri when you ask her questions, that's hilarious
2:38
Nice, didn't even try masking the click from that mouse. They really aren't trying.
Imagine a H.E.R.B.I.E built by someone other than Reed Richards and this is what you get - a taped together lamp with a Wii U pad controller running a trail version of Vista playing Password+...terrible, horrific and so funny...I almost feel sorry for these people who contributed to this, but then I come to my senses and remember...this was wrong from the start. Thing Ring, do your thing...
That little piece of sh* robot dancing & falling at the end was the funniest thing I saw all week. Thank you!!!
There are four cables leaching out of that monstrosity.. if I had to guess there’s hdmi, mouse and power for the tablet and power for the servo in neck... not that it’s really needed to point out, shitty products do speak for themselves
This is the funniest thumbnail ive ever Seen!!!!! So cool, i love it!
Thanks!
I'm seriously wondering if the woman even understands what she's saying or if she's just reading the words.
indian developers at its finnest
We have some good developers alright. These people are just in it for scamming and ripping of people.
@@surya_0x0 I dunno...Last time I saw most of them can only add ' 's to their HTML code since they didn't realize that Visual Studio's design tab should only be used to preview designs, not modifying them.
@@ZX3000GT1 I agree lol. I have worked with some idiots, I wonder how they landed the job without having skills. Shows that the hiring process just takes those who can explain something instead of actually able to get shit done.
yeah I enojoyed this video.
Glad you did! More soon.
who's yeah
i forget the I. sorry.
Apparently, they released another edited version of this video without the background noises and that is the video linked to on their indiegogo updates page now. And the comments are disabled on that one. Also, the original version has been deleted from vimeo
...At least use wireless mouse if you are going to fake it...
Penurious Sierra
Make the cursor not transparent lol, that's help.
That's so funny, it's like they aren't even trying to be convincing scammers. Just realised the masking tape holding the frame together, really classy marketing, LOL.
Yass you’re back!!
Thanks! more on the way!
StopDrop&Retro awesome!
Did anyone else notice during the "off script" part that it looked like she had the "Automate" Android app on the screen? And she called it a "flow" which is what Automate calls it's scripts.
Good catch!! there's so much wrong with this damn video if we pointed out everything it would turn into a 30 min video
WE NEED MORE OF THESE VIDEOS EACH WEEK! THERE AWESOME!!!!
you'd kill me quicker that I kill these projects if I did that!
This is just a very shitty version of Jibo....... Predictable yet disappointing.
I'm tempted to make English subtitles for this video but I don't think that will be that easy :D
Jibo is a shitty version of the Jibo from their pitch video
Wasn't Jibo listed as one of the best innovations 2017 by Time magazine? It can't be that bad.... right?
American publications aren't biased at all.
Nope, definitely not.

@@rubeusvombatus jibo is basically just a Google home with a screen and weird animatronic motions.
