    IMPORTANT EDIT: I just got confirmation Future Tech and Future Civic is meant to be repeatable, and the fact it wasn't in this game is a bug.
    As a quick note, starting in Antiquity Age can potentially make this strategy even more potent, because you can then get golden age amphitheaters, some ageless unique tile improvements from suzerain bonuses, etc. (but I wanted to showcase advanced start in exploration age, plus I'm limited in how much gameplay footage I can show)
    Also, if you're interested in a video covering basic game mechanics instead, I have one here: ua-cam.com/video/lSJZHQDZHQU/v-deo.html

    From what I can see here (and that I experienced in Humankind), the meta here will develop on 2 axis - first ordering how to develop (the normal civ stuff - optimal policy/time to expand etc.), while the other axis will be to stack bonuses in unbalanced ways. And since there is practically going to be no way to keep all combinations balanced unless everything is nerfed into the ground, I expect the next few months (or years) to show us ever-more increasing ridiculous bonus stacking that all but trivializes gameplay on any difficulty.

    • @alecshockowitz8385
      @alecshockowitz8385 9 днів тому +1

      I think this is likely too, but a big thing to note is that you lose anything not marked as 'Ageless' when going into the next Age.
      So stuff like military to hinder your opponents, relics, codices, etc etc are all going to get a very sharp power spike the moment you go to the next Age.
      I think due to Cities being downgraded automatically this will make heavy stacking of production and Gold to be the best. Obviously military to just wipe everyone out or hinder their progress is potent too

    • @trancehuman1063

      It seems like hard pushing either culture or science will only result in hitting the end of the tech tree quicker and triggering the crisis sooner. You're probably want to try and balance it somewhat better unless your game requires you to get to the modern age sooner to leap-frog a winning AI. I'm wondering if it's not best to treat those stacking bonuses as a reason to ease off that tree, freeing you up to focus on the other instead. So in this game for example, use the culture bonuses to save you having to build so many culture buildings, putting your production into science instead to balance the two tree's out.
      A number of creators have recognised that it's not actually an advantage to beeline the end of the tree's and that in some cases it could actually hurt you long-term.

      It’s ironic that this is shaping up to be the most unbalanced Civ game since they seem to be making a push towards the competitive esports scene. Personally I find unbalanced games to be fun but it’s just another example of how oxymoronic the design of Civ 7 is

    • @Tokru86
      @Tokru86 8 днів тому

      @@trancehuman1063 I agree on the balanced approach. Just stacking one ressource, like culture, is comparatively easy. I think the best players in the future will be the ones who can reliably finish all objectives in every age to maximize the bonuses, especially the attribute points. For this it's seems very important to time your milestones correctly to not get pushed into the next age too soon and/or involuntarily.

    • @SkeIIum
      @SkeIIum 8 днів тому

      To which the'll likely nerf the stacking as time goes by which leaves us to the method you didn't state which is "Constantly dealing with the AI Dowing you and consuming their cheat production via defensive combat." The way we won at Civ 5 and Civ 6 after they removed stacking.

    i think a mod that merges all the ages into one would make VII more palatable to a lot of older civ fans, it would be a good bit of work though since a lot of the cool content that i want to keep in is very much built with the assumption that it won't interact with things from different ages, now i'm starting to see why they split the ages in the first place, there's so many ways to get special rules-bending bonuses and it probably made balancing/testing simpler to place hard limits on what could interact with what

    So either culture or science have a cap on their utility because you can´t research further at some point. Gold would loose its utility if you have bought everything but i almost believe it would break the game more than culture or science. Or actually, it might be food, because of specialists.

    Thanks for posting this. I think the era-locked tech limits is definitely a deal-breaker for me but it is still interesting to see how things work. Can you say how big the map can get compared to Civ 6? Is it still the same number of hexes as before or did they increase huge or install sizes beyond it? If you can't say, that's cool. Also I noticed some leader slots were empty during game start. Are leaders unlocked by play or were those just not available early build or part of the ransomed leaders to force people to register accounts on different sites/buy the super-wallet-breaker edition?

    • @Khaim.m

      I think the era-limited tech/civic tree is good. It forces you to actually play the game, instead of just "I broke this yield, got way ahead, gg". You do get advantages from being ahead but it's not game-ending; you still have to engage with the other parts of the game to win.
