Actually, the game does have an ending. It just doesn't play due to a glitch which also causes the game to not unlock Dr. Wily has a playable character despite the fact the you can see him at the end of the character select screen.

Yeah, I remember sing this thing in Blockbuster (back when that was still a thing) and since I was not really a Mega Man fan, I just kinda glanced over it.
You are without a doubt, my favorite classic game reviewer on you tube. I love how you get right down to the meat of these games, no bull crap. I appreciate that. You've been a big help in building my snes collection.
I wish they'd revisit this idea with a new Mega Man Soccer game - and actually _finish_ it this time. It could be a ton of fun building your team with all the characters, trying different formations and strategies, pulling out all kinds of interesting and varied special moves (instead of a bunch of themed kick attacks that are all basically the same, like what we got), changing your lineup to counter enemy teams... But they won't. Capcom's all about doing the same thing until the money stops coming.
My favorite Special was Gemini Man, because he turned into Will Smith and his clone, both shot the goalie, and then one dances over his grave while the other scores easily. Nah, but f'real, splitting the ball in two usually bounced right around the goalie.
Lol Castlevania croquet could be awesome. Use the whip to control the hits. Add a simple strength and direction bar and I am in. Hilarious episode; you are getting really good at these. If only the game could have been arcade soccer fun time. Unfortunately we are expected to be impressed by the Mega-Man sprites rather than have a fun game that has a decent FOV.
When I was a child, and blissfully unaware of this game's existence, I would play Mega Man Basketball with my younger siblings. This was basically Basketball - except we had to pick which Mega Man character we were. And, of course, being the oldest - and the one to make up the game - I was always Mega Man. And, obviously, since he was the good guy and the star of the game - Mega Man was required to win. It helped that i was usually about a foot taller than everyone as well (at the time). This comment has nothing to do with the video or the game mentioned in the video, so I will add that Mega Man Basketball would make a lot more sense than soccer, since he is known for running and jumping - not running and kicking. "JUMP AND SHOOT MAN!" - Egorapter [Corrected]
I actually loved this game and probably the only Mega Man that I enjoyed without the stress of killing bosses and going through difficult obstacles in the franchise.
My friend and I had a blast with this game growing up. That being said, I look back on it and it really wasn’t a great game. Heck it was almost impossible to score without using a special. I remember you had to get up against the wall and angle your shot using L or R or something. The other option was to pass the ball back and forth in front of the keeper and then shoot it.
"remember this was years before stuff like mario tennis"... umm.. a year... mega man soccer came in 1994 and mario tennis came in 1995 (for the virtual boy console).... not only that but NES had already a mario golf game (here in western it was called "NES Open Tournament Golf" but in japan its name was "Mario Open Golf") that came in 1987.

Of course, It was sorta half assed, It recycles the engine off a Banpresto game called Do-Lucky A League Soccer. My friend used to love that game so much and forced me to play it all the time when we were kids.
So this would be a nice condidate for a remake. Essentiall just make better use of modern displays and make the gameplay more responsive / better paced.
I disagree. This was a good game. The different stats of the characters make the gameplay deeper and it is very challenging to beat the tournament mode.
I found the game oddly entertaining. I enjoyed it but agree with 90% of everything you say on this one Drunk... but that sound track tho, some of those stages like fire man's stage
For the mega Man X collection I would have much rather have this game than that crappy kart racer they stuck on there. I think it was called megaman battle and Chase. In my opinion mega Man soccer is a better game.
I remember this as both the only Mega Man, and the only Soccer game that I enjoyed. Granted, I didn't play that many, and they were all rentals, but still. Granted, I probably needed to play more Mega Man and soccer games, and I probably had my own complaints about this game, but it was one of those weird things that clicked with me for some reason.
My first roommate, in the on-base military housing in Goose Creek, outside of Charleston, SC, for the NNPTC (wow more than 15 years ago …and basically emo-ing myself out of the Navy in general… and some how I still remembered this shit…) actually got a package sent to him from home with an SNES and *literally just this game* and he was so happy. I had my Xbox 360 at the time with guitar hero 3.. t other than school, mandatory homework hours, playing Gh3 either in my room or showing off in a rec center, and also the titty bars, I didn’t have time to learn any “new” games.
NiKE MAN yah, sure. The FIFA, the UEFA, the CONCACAF and other organizations must be nuts to keep on doing tournaments of a sport that 99% of the world doesn't like but still get loads of profit, suuure...
I REALLY enjoyed this as a kid. I loved the way you could customize your team; as you got familiar with the game, you learned what powers worked best, and you could design a team around the robots that were most effective. And there was probably a familiarity effect...as I knew all of the robots and had loved playing against them in the MM games, seeing them in this and having their powers be true to their characters in the earlier games was excellent (I owned MM2 and 4 at this point, and I'd rented MM1 a whole lot; I wasn't as familiar with 3). Buuuuut...I probably wouldn't like it nearly as much today. Not all games are enjoyable for all ages, and the flaws mentioned in the video, while legitimate, are not really things I really cared about as a 12/13-year old. This was clearly a cash grab, a way for Capcom to milk the Megaman franchise for a bit more money before X2 and X3 came out on the SNES (and MM5 and 6, for NES). But they knew their audience; we rented this one at least 3-4 times in July/August of '94 (though it wasn't super-captivating, it was good enough to engage me for a couple hours).
I think this game is a lot better then you give it credit for, though I’ll admit the camera being too close to the action is a flaw. Maybe it’s cause I played the game a lot as a kid but I find your ally ai is good enough since they’ll often mirror your actions so it’s easy to pass up to them and score quickly.
Interesting. I have a copy (picked it up for a good price) but have yet to play it. Since its holding it's value I believe I will move it towards something else. Thanks
As a kid, I expected more for that one because kunio kun soccer was on my mind and i thought it will be more like a soccer with random cool personal stats elements. But all the special moves do the same, just with a different sprite animation. Kunio was a lot better even being release on nes.
Valid criticisms, but it doesn't have to be a perfect game to be a fun game. I liked it a lot when I was a kid. I thought seeing robot masters change color to match Mega Man's colors or the colors of the team captain was a nice touch and I liked the music in it too.
When I was in middle school, I rented this game because it looked like it might be interesting....then there was a blizzard and we got snowed in for 2 weeks. This was the only SNES game I had readily available for 2 WEEKS. It was the worst game I had ever played on SNES and became the butt of many jokes for years after.
Honestly this game could have been better if there was already a good Mario Tennis game out. It would have been fun to see a goofy over the top Megaman sports game. Using powers could have been implemented in great ways. Like for example DustMan being able to suck up the ball for a few seconds to keep it safe before shooting it out, like a strong kick. When you look into things this could have been great
I dunno, I got some fun out of this game. It wasn't GREAT, no, but I thought it was decent fun. I'll agree it was really slow, though, and a wider view would've been great. I'm surprised you didn't mention the cost of a hard copy of this game. It's obscene. I sold my complete copy of the game for around $300 last year.
I mean the game calls Protoman "Blues", which is of course his Japanese name, but every localized Megaman game uses Protoman, so it felt very rushed, like they handed it to a random translator and said "We need this back tomorrow".
I laughed at your reactions to why soccer. ISSD was pretty big in my country and so was captain tsubasa's anime. So for me a Mega Man soccer game was like the greatest thing ever. It sucked big time thou.
Okay, then let me ask you this. How does this compared to NES's Nekketusu Soccer games? (there are two) Because I enjoyed both of them (although Ice Hockey was way way better).

In mexico this game was a hit i was a young boy and i remember everybody love the game and the fact that you can use powers was a good idea
I agree i personally liked this game as well, the powers were the best part
I was born here in Los Angeles California but I was in Cuernavaca Morelos when I played this game and this was in the 90s
That's because soccer is practically a religion in Mexico, lol.
@@sycofya1677 And yet you can barely use the powers at all. They really should have leaned into this aspect.

This is even worse, tho.
When Mega Man 8 came out, I always assumed the random soccer ball attack he got at the start of the game was a nod to this.
Street Fighter Skiing™ cracked me up.
