That look of surprise when he immediately gets the little fish in the net, while saying how difficult it is...priceless. "Oh! ... Crikey! Heheheh." Gosh darn it, Tim. We love you, man.
I think it's just an exclamatory colloquialism, kind of like "yikes", "whoa" and the rare but lovely "zounds!" I'm not sure what the individual etymologies are, as Webster et al. don't officially list definitions for them. Interesting question. They seem to occupy a similar role as swear words but, well, without the swearing. :)
I've heard that "zounds" was short for "God's wounds", IE the wounds Jesus sustained on the cross, and it was shortened because taking the Lord's name in vain was taken a lot more seriously when the word came around. The rest, I have no idea.
they kind of are sophisticated though... like, at what point to a neanderthal does it occur that 6-8 tiny balls, locked on a circular track, surrounded by a weird little Y shape would create a rather pleasant gyroscopic feeling when spun?
During Tim's very fruitful life, He's seen many trends arise, then die. While we're all flustered, in a dither By the simple mechanics of a fidget spinner, Tim laughs, shakes his head and mutters 'normies...' under his breath.
Birdy's comment was a fun way of showing his disdain for the fidget spinner, an item most intellectual frontiersmen roll their eyes at because of it's embrace by a hoard of trendy douchebags. Then we have Bladsmith, oh Bladsmith. Your comments are just nippy little bitch fits, aren't they? "Technically, heh-heh-heh, don't you mean _"fundamentally"_ or another better suited adverb?" *_AND THEN_* Bladsmith goes on to make a mockery of those suffering an irregular mental constitution. "Look at the Downs syndrome child, that's you, Birdy, fucking pathetic just like that child.". Is that the characterisation you meant to portray, Bladsmith? It's bad optics and exactly what the public, who I speak in behalf of, are thinking.
He could of easily put fidget spinners in the title but he didn't because unlike most channels Tim is interested in entertainment over views. Well done sir
He probably isn't even aware of how popular they are. He doesn't use the internet very much and I think I heard that the channel is mostly managed by someone else.
If someone deserve to do a video about fidget spinners, is Tim. I mean, like they say in another comments, it is a toy, so it really fits within the reaches of this channel.
Since there's apparently a lot of controversy regarding the popularity of fidget spinners, I'd just like to say that I find it remarkable that kids are currently fascinated with a little piece of plastic that moves around with no electronics whatsoever, instead of having their eyes on a screen and Pokemon Go. As a kid from the 80's, the spinner and these other little gizmos are a lot more relatable and it's neat to see people playing with them on the street here in NYC. I do enjoy the occasional video game too, but I'm just glad people haven't forgotten the joy of simple toys, because that's what it is. It's kinda cute, and I'll take all the cuteness I can get in this topsy-turvy world. Much bigger things out there to complain about right now!
Evan Snyder I had the very same thought the other day. It does make them a lot more appealing when you look at it that way. I can't criticize them too much. A co-worker gave me one as a gift and it is a pleasing enough thing to fiddle with. I wouldn't have bought one for myself but it was a nice gift and an effective desk toy.
What's with the lately Fidget Spinner hate? It's the new hip to hate on popular things? Geez guys, relax. They are toys, and people are having fun with them. It evolved from a simple fidget to a "skill toy", but again, what's so bad about that? Sometimes I wonder if spinning tops were invented nowadays people would hate them too. Remember the 90's yo-yo crazy? Nostalgia aside, what's the difference from kids playing with spinners nowadays?
Because he had a thing the internet decided is bad in the video for about a minute, and everyone has to make sure everyone else knows they hate it, so that they can be cool.
it might be its connection to autism. The toy was originally used to calm down autistic people. Autism has taken on a kind of dark joke meme focus recently. Also the clickbait videos of people doing tricks with them. I like the toys myself though
It's mega popular, which means people will hate it. Pokemon Go, the ice bucket challenge, fidget spinners; if it's super popular, there will always be a subset of people who think they're edgy by proclaiming they don't do what everybody else is doing
Not really. This is very much a subject for Tim to report on. It's strange he hasn't done so sooner. Also, the title doesn't even say 'spinner' and fidget has been a word for ages.
not really clickbait since tim doesnt use arrows pointing to something, caps lock, clickbaity images, etc on the thumbnail Plus, he genuinely talks about what's shown on the thumbnail and doesn't even use "fidget spinners" in the title
That look of surprise when he immediately gets the little fish in the net, while saying how difficult it is...priceless.
"Oh! ... Crikey! Heheheh."
Gosh darn it, Tim. We love you, man.
I kinda get what "crikey" means, or what is used for, given the context.. but what exactly means?
I think it's just an exclamatory colloquialism, kind of like "yikes", "whoa" and the rare but lovely "zounds!" I'm not sure what the individual etymologies are, as Webster et al. don't officially list definitions for them. Interesting question. In the same way that "Gosh!" is a way of saying "Oh God!" without being blasphemous, "Crikey!" is a way of saying "Jesus Fucking Christ!".
@@benedictnothing
I saw somewhere that crikey was short for "Christ kill me" while Blimey was "Lord blind me"

Tim is the only man on youtube who can make fidget spinners seem sophisticated.

To be fair it's technically a toy and the man has a show about toys.
Technically? They're toys in every possible respect.
Well, I don't think a normal toy would make me want to kill myself.
Who knows, you're clearly not very mentally sound.
