When I was 15, I got my older brothers hand me down, It was the '69 Coronet Superbee that he had wrecked with minor front damage, so after it was repaired he wanted a '69 Fairlane and then I bought the Super B from our Dad who was the actual under signed owner I got my licence and at 16 was on the road with the B added Magnum 500s and a tape player and the fun began
How is it boring ? Automatics boil the tires ,no traction even at a 30 mph roll, they light the tires up...Boring ,Not ! The 727 shifts firm and faster than a 4 speed manual..727 was the 1st transmission to shift quicker than a standard trans.. I get 2nd gear rubber from my stock 727,back in 1972 my 68 charger RT would bark the tires from 1st to 2nd when floored...Yes I still own it,and still pristne..12.60's it ran bone stock, once wider tires were available..Bone stock it ran 13.60's with 205 75 series 14 inch bias ply tires, best was 13.40's with zero use of 1st gear...Wider tires started in the mid 70's and i bought a set, went to 12.80's and 12.60's all stock ..I swapped the carb and added headers, traction barsand 12.40's were had..On par with magazine tests they had a 440 4bbl Cuda brand new running low 12's with addition of slicks lol those hook like a modern radial, lots of spinning .. You are thinking automatics suck because some cars have different engines than the manual ones...The Mustang 5.0 used a different cam and head than the 5.0 Manual ..The automatics had 205 hp and the Manual had 225..This was the 1987-95 5.0..And I would guess other makes models did as well.. Even Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth used a hotter cam in the manual than the automatic until 1968..The hp was never advertised, they just lumped them all the same bogus number as they were all under rated...

David Lindstrom well the charger is a small block auto. At least the bee is a big block.
