17:17 I love how your biggest reaction was to her pulling the fly out of the video. "I would run to the end of the Earth screaming...I'm gonna have a personal conversation with Jesus and God" 😂😂😂😂😂
That moment at the end when the boy asks "What happens to the people we show it to?" and Naomi Watts almost but not quite looks sideways at the audience and you realize... THEY JUST SHOWED IT TO YOU
The girl climbing out the tv and what you said is what still fucks with me about this movie when most others don't bother me. Well that and the context of your environment the first time you watched it. The first time I say this movie. I had recently moved to a desolate state in an even more desolate town that I had ever lived in my life. I didn't know the area very well. My boyfriend that did know the area was. An hr away at work. I had rented this movie to watch. It was about 3am. The first time they showed the well in the movie. I remembered there was one just like it with a lid on it and chain locked right outside my kitchen window. 🤦👀😳
It definitely WAS one of the scariest for it’s time back when it was new. Now everyone knows the climax even those who never saw the movie yet. Katie’s face in the closet still gets me to this day
"I can't imagine being stuck down a well all alone like that. How long could you survive?" "Seven days." Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Tess Hall. Location Location Fact: Seattle, Washington was chosen as the chief location of the film production because of its wet, isolated setting. Killer Marketing Fact: Long before the movie premiered, the killer video was used as a commercial. The commercial did not mention any movie for nearly a month. Shadowless Green Fact: For the choice of the film's color, it was decided that everything was to be tinged with the color green to give the film a sickly, unnatural feeling. Sets were also lit in a way that none of the characters have a shadow, to create an almost subconscious sense of creepiness. Americanized Silliness Fact: The ring shape motif is unique to the American remake. Kôji Suzuki, the author of the novel upon which the movies are based, says that the title referred to the cyclical nature of the curse, since, for the viewer to survive after watching it, the video tape must be copied and passed around over and over. Cursed DVD Fact: The "cursed" video is available as an easter egg on the DVD. Once the "video" has started playing, you can't stop it, pause it, fast-forward it, or return to the menu. Unless you turn off the TV, you're forced to watch the whole thing. When it's over, the DVD returns to the menu, then you hear a phone ring twice before you're given control over your remote again.
Unfortunately, there is a live premiere conflict. Last time this happened, I chose you guys over them. This week, I will watch them live. I will watch this later. Tell the chat I said hi! Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍
The Ring scared me twice the first time I watched it. I was in the Navy at the time and our ship just returned from a deployment. A shipmate was nice enough to loan me the DVD for the evening. Half the ship was gone so I had the whole living space to myself. I turned off all the lights, hit play on the remote, and sat the remote on the arm rest of the couch. The movie ended and was pretty much spooked. Then I noticed a feature on the DVD called "Don't Watch This." I selected to the feature and placed the remote back down on the arm rest. The feature was just the video from the movie spliced with deleted scenes. As I am watching it the TV just turned off by itself. I froze and started looking for the remote. I thought maybe I could have hit the remote by accident or something. With arms resting on my lap, I slowly turned my head to see the remote still sitting on the arm rest. There's no way I accidentally hit it. I swiftly got up and got outta there. Found the shipmate that loaned me the DVD and told him what just happened. We had a laugh about. With being said, love the channel! Love your reactions!
This was the last movie that freaked me out enough as a young-ish woman at the time, to wake my mom up and spend the rest of the night in her room because I couldn't turn my brain off and it bothered me too much xD

The ring is an American remake of the Japanese film Ringu. Samara or Sadako in the original Japanese film was inspired by the Onryu. Onryu are caused when someone dies a traumatic or violent death. They become vengeful spirits and they seek to destroy those who have harmed them and anyone who comes across their territory etc. The Grudge/ Ju On is another film that talks about this spirit.
I watched this almost 20 years ago as a kid and it scared the ever-living hell out of me. I still consider it one of my favorite horror movies ever. The tone and atmosphere is done so well and goes along perfectly with the whole mystery aspect of the story.
The Ring is not about gore, but all about atmosphere and dread. Something many horror movies no longer know how to do anymore. They just throw cats at you and play the piano really loud and say "BOO."
The movie you're probably thinking of J is Jennifer's Body. There's one scene that is very key to the plot. The Ring started a whole wave of Japanese horror remakes that thankfully died out fairly quickly. I remember the horror FPS games that came out around this era, F.E.A.R. The first two games were pretty solid. And yeah man, if Margot Robbie walked out of my TV, I don't think I'd question it too much. I'd just ask if she'd like to have a seat and offer a drink.
I can NOT handle this movie! It's the only movie I have ever screamed for real in the movie theater! But watching YOU watch this may be the greatest thing to happen this Halloween season!! Thank you! I hope we both make it to the end 🤣
