One of the better soundtracks I've listened to in a long time. Gonna really enjoy that next snack of pickled herring and sour cream. Oh yeah. Those sea lions right at the end doin' the cutsie hootchie kootchie sneakum snack-grab smackerel jack was just too cool.
Nice sets and great scenery! How long has Kodiak had a sac roe fishery? Don't recall it ever being a thing back when I was around in the 70's - 90's. Tendered a few times in PWS and Norton Sound and some of that got pretty crazy.
work on the star of Kodiak. 1976,78.83. unloader! Me an a salvadorin unloaded 86 thous pounds of shrimp in 6 hours. the ship had 17 thous on deck an 200 thous in the hole. he was in he's 40's an i was 28 years old. he kicked my butt. back then the beachcombers bar.
It probably would, but when a section of net is already getting pretty worn, it’s not really worth it to reweb it. We’ll just swap out the section after the season.
Select "HD" under settings icon for best viewing experience. Cheers!

Thanks! I’m not sure how long it’s been a thing on Kodiak. I bet that was pretty wild!

I mended nets for years, and I never tied a bowline when I was mending nets. And I learned from Shelly Egle. :-o
Funny how there’s lots of ways to accomplish the same thing :)
Nice video Max. So the boat is basically a hybrid that you outfit based on what you are targeting? Do you work year round?
Thanks Roland! Yes, the boat works year round for a number of different fisheries, but I do not.
Very cool
I've seined in Kodiak for salmon for 4 years on the west side. What part of Kodiak is that?
This was a little bit all over
Wow los of views!
Would it not be better to mend the net properly

Herring fishing is a waste of time these days. No money in it.
