I've been trying to learn and develop phone/ app based magic myself, so I always appreciate the amount of effort and difficulty that designing something like this requires.
I also really enjoy using these types of magic as not only is it easy and quick to use, but since it takes place on another person's phone, it leaves a much stronger impression on the person.
With all types of mentalism, mind reading, there's always so much more that you can draw out and understand about your audience which helps to create a bond more than just "I'm a magician", but rather more about me as a person. I want them to not just experience shock but also a sense of happiness and comfort in knowing that there might be another stranger who can comprehend how they're feeling and give them a small boost to their feelings.
Thanks for the generosity! Personally I think app-based mentalism works well because a smart phone is a common EDC for anyone in the 21st century. Plus it can seem impromptu when you don’t have a deck of cards with you (if you’re a magician and being asked to perform something unexpectedly)

Magic and mentalism based on apps are like the secret sauce in a modern magician's recipe.
Why? Because they allow us to take our art anywhere and anytime, turning our phone into a modern magic wand.
What makes this form of magic so special? Well, for starters, who doesn't carry their phone with them everywhere these days?
It's like an extension of ourselves, a tool that's already integrated into our daily lives.
And when we pull out that familiar device to perform a magic or mentalism effect, the impact is even greater.
And best of all, apps allow us to adapt to any environment. Whether it's at a party, at work, or on the street, we're always ready to surprise and amaze.
Plus, there's no need to carry around a bag full of tricks.
Everything we need is in the palm of our hand.
In summary, magic and mentalism apps are like having a superpower in our pocket.
They allow us to take magic wherever we go and create unforgettable moments for ourselves and those around us.

I love app based magic because of 3 reasons (good things comes in 3s):
1. It can be done anywhere anytime as you just need your phone with you.
2. You dont have to worry about difficult sleights as most apps would already do the work for you, and you can focus on your presentation
3. You can stay relevant and show magic is not just about cards or coins. Tech and magic can assimilate into each other to be modern as well.
I love using magic apps as they're convenient and not many people are aware of its existence :)

Here’s why I like app based mentalism: my phone is always with me so it’s my edc, having app allows me to perform at moments notice when I don’t have anything else other than my phone and it is even better if I’m able to perform with the spectator’s phone. everyboody carry phones. nobody cares if they left the wallet at home but they can’t leave their phone 😄.
I looove app magic/mentalism, because I always have my phone with me so i can perform these effects whenever i like without having to carry a bunch of probs.
apps are with us at all time. the ultimate EDC.
I love the magic apps because it's really easy to use
I have never get problems using it
I appreciate app based mentalism because it's always available in everyone's pocket, and is a natural source of lots of data to choose from for a mentalism effect: Wikipedia, Instagram, etc that people are already familiar with. This is as opposed to some random book the spectator has never heard of.
Of course it's not always appropriate for more formal performances, but for anytime anywhere mindreading, it can be an incredibly powerful tool.
Truth be told, I only think this applies to Mentalism. I think app based Magic can very easily fall flat and be easily explained as "a special app." But Mentalism, when performed right, can be much more powerful when using a spectator's device, instagram account, wikipedia, etc.

Because it's impromptu
As others have said, it’s really the ultimate EDC. You almost always have your phone so it’s the most natural thing in the world to take out and use. And that hits on why I think it works so well beyond being an EDC - it’s really the ultimate real-world object.. You would think that an audience member would question if the phone could be doing the heavy lifting, but my experience is they almost never do, as the thought of something that they know so well as a daily-use object being “gimmicked” never crosses their mind. It’s kind of perfect, to be honest.
I really do love apps designed for magic because it's a completely different way to do magic and also easy to do and almost self working (sometimes)
That's really nice of you to give Topix as a gift. I like app based magic when spectators use their own phones. But I try to put the magic in the hands of the spectators in all my routines, whether it's cards, balls or other props. The magic so much more powerful when its happend in the hand of the spectator. Thats why i love app magic as well when the spectator uses ther own phone :)

I think I like app based magic, honestly, for the novelty of it for my own amusement. I find a lot of the apps to just be super clever and fun to use, even if the audience doesn’t know that part. I only use a few app and even then only in social settings now, but during the pandemic I started to use them more for virtual performances. The problem for me now is just like the peek wallet problem… that is searching for the holy grail.

Why do I like app-based magic or mentalism?
Background:
Doing magic everywhere we want to perform is dream of mine and maybe every magician, it's even magical to ourselves when we can perform mentalism naked with seems like we have no preparation at all.
Pros doing app-based magic:
1. Everyone has a phone with them when they go outside of their house, imagine we have a prop on everyone's phone in this world and always ready to perform.
2. It's stronger when I can perform with their props (phone) and keep their phone with them, seems like without any setup, they have their free will, and it's pure magic when I can reveal the choice of the spectator's item in their own phone.
3. It will be more memorable to our participant when they see magic in their own phone, whenever they see the phone they always remember us who perform and show magical things to them.
I think Topix would be killer app to be perform with and rise our mentalism ability to be seen by anybody over the world.
Hi Nique, I like it because it is so natural now - what I mean is that everyone carries their phone with them almost everywhere they go, and it is so commonplace now to see people looking at their phones no matter what environment they are in, so app-based magic/mentalism is such a natural thing to do and no one ever questions it. Topix seems like an ideal app since it doesn't require you (the performer) to have their phone "in play"!

Hi Nique, firstly you have many friends we all love you here. 😊Secondly I love magic apps because they are covert, always with me and no extra pocket space is required. The perfect “EDC” I know people hate that term but in this case it’s really true.
My character that I write shows for wouldn't use any apps, but I like the idea of something that the "real" me can do as an edc. The idea of not actually having to touch the other person's phone makes this sit nicely between character me and real life me as well.

first I want to thank you for the giveaway, second, I like apps based magic and mentalism because I will not think about preparation of the trick and these stuffs, it will be in my phone and the phone is my pocket and that's it !
I like the fact that it’s almost guaranteed to be on my person and the best apps don’t make it seem like they’re dependent on the phone. The phone is so ubiquitous now that it often feels like the right thing to use. That said, there is lots I don’t like about some app based magic and I worry spectators are increasingly clued into it.
Truth is, I never do app/smartphone based effects, but with the advancement of technology and AI, I think it would be a good opener for more "traditional" non technological approach. 🙂

Hello nique tan, I love mentalism apps because of a lot of reasons and the essentiel one is because they are impromptu magic
It becomes a covenant edc.
App-based magic and mentalism, in my opinion, is quite underrated. People have lots of doubt about this type of magic and mentalism, but I consider it to be a really useful and deceptive tool. It highlights the definition of EDC magic, removes the chunkyness of props being carried around, and if a performer has a certain patter to the effect which he/she is performing, the audience might forget the phone being there to begin with. This is my first time being in a giveaway, fingers crossed 😂
Benefit of app-based magic is that it can be combined with other routines for easy confabulations
In our current world, where many things that just a decade ago would be perceived as miraculous and impossible, the average ‘spectator’ is beginning to accept (expect?) there is some ‘technology’ involved. For that reason App-Based magic is often considered “suspect” and many magicians are hesitant to use it.
But in those situations where the phone is simply a tool to a magical end (and NOT the focus of the magic), where the spectator’s phone is the device used (this is web-based app magic; the type of which I have created a few apps) or where the app is disguised as one of the commonly used utilities on EVERYONE’s phone this is not an issue.
I am hopeful more magic practicioners will consider the phone as a tool (a vehicle) and build their presentations to evoke that perception to the user.

Oops. I already picked up a copy immediately after last night’s review. Someone much more deserving than me should be awarded the giveaway copy anyway. I perform magic for two audiences; my tech-savvy grandchildren, and my tech-savvy office peers. We all just feel very comfortable in the space, and when an actual app developer is “fooled” by his/her own technology, it’s that much more enjoyable!

It’s quick, always with you or spectator’s phone. It fooled badly for layman
The reason why I love apps is impromptu magic, I don't need to carry 1kg with me of props to do crazy tricks, I only need my phone
App-based magic/mentalism is a great EDC for a hobbyist like me. When someone says “Show me a trick”, I can easily use a spectators phone to produce miracles. It‘s even more amazing when incorporated into a physical performance such as ACAAT developed by the same guys! 😊
It saves space in my minimalist wallet that I already Jam Pack with every other “EDC” items (Chroma, Inner Circle, 1 billet, 1 prediction, and 8 card brainwave). 🤦♂️
That is an interesting question because I have no mentalism app yet. Hence, what I would like about it is trying it out.
