Produced by Jason Suecof at Audio Hammer Studios.
"The Forever Rot," stands in stark contrast to "The Agony Seeping Storm", delving into a lonesome and haunting guitar melody, then evolving into shimmering reflections of Obituary, Coroner, Voivod, and even hints of Neurosis. In other words, forget about your preconceived perceptions of what this band was. This twists vocal tropes, chord forms, and melodies into loops of razor wire.
Jonny Davy furthers elaborates, “On MoonHealer, we explore a concept centered around a close friend who embarked on a relentless quest for profound enlightenment through the incessant abuse of hallucinogenic drugs, leading to a severe disconnection from reality due to the toll it took on their mental health. The song 'The Forever Rot' touches on their beliefs that human evolution and development have somehow led to the restriction of perceiving otherworldly or inter-dimensional realities and religious entities. It delves into their disconnection from the physical world and the notion that true vitality may be found in the ability to self-destruct and recreate. That some of the drugs they consumed opened these realities that evolution has closed the door on.”
JOB FOR A COWBOY:
Jonny Davy - vocals
Al Glassman - guitar
Nick Schendzielos - bass
Tony Sannicandro - guitar
Drums performed by Navene Koperweis @nkoperweis
The Forever Rot lyrics:
The Hominid trajectory was the catalyst to forbid this inter-dimensional imagery
For the substance of our existence seeps of earthborn putridity
This mystic entheogen, skinning my essence from a planet of regurgitated monsters
It ripped the threads of a dying macrocosm where all creations are charades and imposters
I no longer sense a ghost inside my carbon-based vessel, the grief is horrendous
But I rest in comfort of knowing my soul is eternal and my consciousness endless
As my fleshed flame was quenched with gloom
The eternal darkness took my soul to consume
I can overhear my shadow's dimming cry,
It wept and said, "Only that of which can destroy itself is truly alive"
I no longer sense a ghost inside my carbon-based vessel, the grief is horrendous
But I rest in comfort of knowing my soul is eternal and my consciousness endless
As my fleshed flame was quenched with gloom
The eternal darkness took my soul to consume
I can overhear my shadow's dimming cry,
It wept and said, "Only that of which can destroy itself is truly alive"
No longer was I to be revived
My body had been purged, bathed by the sound of flies
the bass work is just phenomenal
This band keeps getting better and better. I've followed this band from their original doom ep to this, and to see them mature into this amazing tech death has been awesome.
Same here bro. They consistently get better with every album. Way ahead of their time when they released sun eater, their jazzy technical death prog sounds like caviar for the ears lol
i went to a Dying fetus/despised icon show and everyone was complimenting me on my Jfac shirt haha nobody has forgotten about this band period!!!!!
no one can ever. @@fatbongripz4207
A small detail I just wanted to point out: The album title is "Moon Healer", arriving 10 years after "Sun Eater". Coincidence? I THINK NOT.
The sun eater is on the cover bro!
First album cover without the bull skull too
@@nickspencer9018 Damn! Didn't know. 10 years really did a lot on his ( or her ) hair and robes, huh?
@@RougeSanta Yeah, looks like he ( or she ) ( referring to the sun eater btw ) swapped it out for some glowing purple eye... Wonder what that could mean
you think, the stomach hurts after sun eating and it's time to heal?
Absolutely killer. Maybe we get lucky with a 2024 tour and get to hear Sun Eater live for the first time? A man can dream...
I second this, and make it to toronto and life will be set
@@pattol666 I 3rd this for Minneapolis/St. Paul
They played some in Vancouver back in 2016 (I'm pretty sure it was 2016 anyway) - unsurprisingly, it was a great set
Dude please hahhah
They played songs from Sun Eater at blue ridge rock fest.
I remember like it was yesterday: 2007-08, I was 15 when I was first introduced to Job For A Cowboy, and I was an instant fan. Not long afterward, I saw them live in 2009 when the Mayhem Festival came to Dallas and they were killer live!
Fast-forward to this year: I'm in my early thirties, and they still sound fresh with their pummeling death metal!
Hail and motherfucking Cheers to ya'll, Job For A Cowboy!
The same bruh. I still remember when first video Entombment was uploaded here in. A. Poor quality and they where just rocking from basements and "garages" to big jigs.
Same!! I was 18 when I got introduced to them in early 2006 with their Doom EP and loved how brutally raw it sounded. They were my favorite band after genesis and every album that followed took it to a whole new level. Sun eater was honestly ahead of its time and moon healer will probably be one of the best metal album releases of 2024 by far. 🤘🤘
Same and agreed
Same ! 2007 when I was 14
These dudes are legends
lucky! When I was 14 the heaviest thing I heard was mudvaynes LD 50 album and some early nu-metal stuff korn, coal chamber, limp bizkit 😅 around 16 a friend showed me some meshuggah, at the gates, lamb of god, been a die hard metal head since. This new wave of death metal like shadow of intent, brand of sacrifice, enterprise earth, are killing it but I’m beyond excited to see what jfac has in store for us.
Job For A Cowboy proving why they've been the best since like 2007.
Dudes picked up right where they left off. Can’t even tell they’ve taken the last decade off. Can’t wait for the new album 🤘🏻
Man, the ending of this song is just absolutely phenomenal
Goddamn makes me actually cry. I’ve waited on you guys for so damn long and you delivered!!! Thank you Metal Blade! Thank You Job For A Cowboy. Life is now complete!
The gods are smiling at you saying CHA CHA BREE BREE
I needed this. I so needed this. I busted my right ankle and my left knee, so I've been living without a good leg to stand on AND now my dog I've had for 14 years is dying. This song took me in so many places and made me feel so many things. I was out of my dark place for the entire 6 minutes. THANK YOU and Welcome back 🙏 🎉
i wish the best for you!
Hahaha dudes name is shotgundildo.
@@zekeescra5791 Her* I'm a female with a sick sense of humor.
@@salazeka thank you ❤
the pacing and slinkyness of the instruments, so chill, must be really fun to play
This gives me Tarnished Gluttony Vibes. Yet another masterpiece from the true gods of metal.
This is by far the most excited I've been for a new album in years, every year that passed by without another JFAC album was making me think we may never get another. One of the most impressive evolutions I've seen from a band, really beatiful to see them grow in to such a distinct and powerful voice in metal.
This song is going to be a classic!
This track checks all the boxes. They never disappoint
Sun Eater, Moon Healer. Perfection.
Been a long time coming.
Their music has transcended into a soul elevating and mind bending journey through consciousness. Love it so much. Thank you JFAC 🤘🏻💜
The most beautiful, haunting song I've heard in such a long time. It's full of so much tragic story telling. This song really blew me away. I love it so much. 🫀
I need this. Ever since ruination, this band had put out some of the best music ever created, the absolute Mozart of metal. Under appreciated for their entire life, I need these dudes to know that they really are some of the best music on the planet, and I’m not just a deathcore head. Whatever your chosen genre of music or era might be, these guys deserve a seat at the table of legendary music amongst the most talented to play the game.
Well said they are phenomenal musicians
Alright, calm down. JFAC are damn good, but the Mozart of metal? That's hyperbole to the furthest extreme. Don't be silly.
@@lbds954 Who are the mozart of the metal in your opinion ?
when this album comes out, it could possibly be one of the best tech death albums of all time.
Perfect bookend to the Sun Eater/Moon Healer narrative. Without a doubt my favorite song they've ever released, this is just everything about the band done to perfection, and the final minute is just unbelievably tight and emotive playing. Incredible
Jfac is amazing. They have evolved in every album. Theyve become much more technical and deep in their music and lyrics.
i never thought i'd ever see a new JFAC track

Dudes....the bass in this is TOP TIER!! Fucking brilliant work JFAC!
Holy shit THE LEGENDS ARE BACK!! 🤘🏻💀🤘🏻
This band keeps topping itself. Unbelievable music! It’s like the opposite of Sun Eater music and concept wise, but still incredible musicianship. Great song!
My favorite band
Pre ordered the vinyl to support the band. Dont even have a vinyl player but that doesnt mean I cant collect
best melodic death metal band.
What a great song to wrap up the album. I’ve had this one on repeat the past few months.
Release this please! My little heart can't take it much longer.
Damn. The last quarter of the song is wild. Also A+ album artwork.
New album confirmed!
Ready for this banger of an album 🤟🏻
So good to see these guys come back with a new album
Dude. This is how you make a fucking return!! I'm loving the tonality of this album so much. I can already tell it's gonna be a great inspiration to my life. Changes are necessary, and this album will accompany me 🤘
Music for meditations.
So stoked for this album. You guys have been one of my favorite bands since the doom and gloom albums.
Really psyched to hear about the new album. Started getting into Death Core/ Death metal more, when I discovered Behemoth and The Black Dahlia Murder. Jon “The Charn” Rice drum cam popped up on my UA-cam page few months back, playing “Unfurling A Darkened Gospel”. Listened to Ruination and was hooked. Then heard “Sun Of Nihility” off the last LP “Sun Eater” and was blown away by their proggressive technicality. Jonny Davy is a beast of a vocalist and their bassist is pretty sick too.
I have never needed something so bad, and not known it. But, here it is.
You and I both, brother. 🤘🏻
Same here! 🥳🤘🏻
@@michaelharrison127 Hell yeahhh! 🤘🏻😤
Loving the fact that they are sticking with the, "Sun Eater" sound. JFAC hiatus has ceased!!!! \m/
New Job for a Cowboy is awesome. Anyone else get massive Gorepot vibes from the artwork?
Still going, eh? Saw them twice in Montreal. First time with Behemoth in 2008, Radio Rebellion tour and again in 2009 when I greeted Jon. Doom was definitely the shit, with Entities being their magnum opus track. I still have my "Hell Stands Still With An Empty Throne" tee but don't recall what happened to my Bakula hoodie. Goooood times, but got into Slam and then old skool Death Metal which led to my cozy spot here in the D-beat/Crust zone. Big cheers to the band and Navene, since Animosity were literally the best band in the scene at the time with The Black Page video absolutely stomping.
Today has been a rough day I'm so thankful for job for a cowboy
Amazing song 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Certified banger!🤯🔥 Can’t wait for the new album!🖤
So glad they’re back.
I just realized this song is already 3 months old
We need a tour please!!!!
Progressive Death Metal masterpiece.
I still press play on their album Genesis and let it play all the way through while I’m at the gym. Always a fan.
The kings are back!
Bien dicho hermano💪💪🇵🇷
amazing song especially the build up at the end and solo
it took almost a decade for a cowboys to find their job, now they're the Moon Healer !!!
I can feel the emotions in this song so powerful but definitely love it 🤘
Never disappoints. They're so god dam good. 🤘
Let's go boys!!! I hope y'all go on tour in spring and summer 24'.
Really incredible track. Stoked for the album!
Thank you for fixing the audio! This is much better!
Edit: For context, this is a re-upload. The audio in the first upload was super compressed and the track sounded really bad.
Damn. This band can do no wrong..... Except making us wait until Late Feb for this album lol. Great song!!! Mix sounds incredible too
Wow I'll just go with the comments baffled me, like in ten years better bands haven't come out?
The wait is over
Nope Feb 2024 🙄
God damn... They just come back and take over like always, in a totally different league. They have so much going on for only having 4 members.
hell I missed this
I'm gonna start this comment with this statement, I LOVE everything these guys do, period. But I do miss the less prog and more death days.
Same!
Now through the eyes of the dead need to drop another album and my life will be complete
FUCK! YES!
I needed this! It’s been to long since JFAC and I’m ready
Great production and really great riffing i cant wait for the album
Qualidade sonora excelente!!
Sun Eater, Moon Healer, that's the "JOB FOR A COWBOY...!!!"
When you tour make a stop in Cleveland!!!!🤘🤘🤘
I’m getting some almost Dani Filth vibes from the vocals on this one! :0 And the slinky instruments and audible bass add so much! ❤
Man im so glad they're making music again. Fuck yes. That bass. Good stuff.
I love material we're getting. This is all gonna be so great omg!
I never thought id see these guys come back
Fuck YES !!!! Pray for a tour my dudes!!!!
I’m soooo happy the bass is just as audible and amazing as in Sun Eater!!! 😢
This absolutely slaps. This is gonna be one hell of an album.
epic ! great drums, vocals guitar and bass
The ending is so freaking good 😁
"Only that of which can destroy itself is truly alive" welcome back boys
MASTERPIECE
Oh MY FUCKING GOD!!! JFAC!?!!?? Can't believe my eyes and ears!!! 😮😮
You uploaded it twice Metal Blade
The original one had compression problems and sounded terrible tbh
Everything about this slays. The theory your friend subscribed to is a dangerous one, but that's not to say there's nothing to be learned from phychedelics.
Reuploaded?
I fucking can't wait for this. Long Overdue.
they're back !!! we didn't know but we needed this !
NICE!!!
riffage on point * and drums
Incredibly intense and completely BADASS!
This is a proggy tech death jazzy record of the year everyone on here is a top tier musician.
If we talk exclusively about normal death metal, this is the beast death metal i have heard in years. Holy fckiong shit, this is soooo goood! Got goosebumps all the way down to my bum and that happens rarley if ever. Holy shit.
this is what the genre needed. current death metal is littered with generic, dime-a-dozen bands that can't write an interesting riff to save their lives. jfac is not one of them.
JFAC is BACK!
Holyyyyyyy. Is this the best release of the year?
hell yeah, sounds so good
I no longer sense a ghost inside my carbon-based vessel, the grief is horrendous
But I rest in comfort of knowing my soul is eternal and my consciousness endless
So happy they're back! Gonna pre-order the album today! FUCK YEAH!
