- Want to make your tiny space way more comfortable? Then get prepared to get down & dirty!
Today I tackled installing one of the infamous Ebay 'Chinese Diesel Heaters'. It was a bloody tough job to tap it in to the tank and mount it externally but it is going to be so worth it in the long run! This Heater would also be suitable for RV's, boats and caravans!

I know this wasn’t the ‘sexiest topic’ especially as those of you in the Northern Hemisphere go in to summer. So thank you for choosing to watch all the same!
Really appreciate all the support I get from this community 🙏🏼
Okay, time to soak in a warm bath for a few hours!
when do we start to talk about your EX? do you have new +1 ? 😅
I'm not seeing any videos (other than the intro) on the other channel. So do we just stick with this channel?
I enjoy the how to dialogue. It is very interesting to see how you are making your home comfy and cozy. Great seeing your family are doing well. Would love an Occy update.
Funny enough we are in Canada and just installed our wood stove. This exact heater is next!!
I realy enjoyed watching this...i live in Canada and its a must to have that heater in a van. Tks
I know it must be really time consuming to move the camera every time you need to do the next step and I appreciate you doing that so much! I love these how to videos, the length of them, how well you explain things. I'm not building a van but I enjoy watching your videos as I've followed you since the very beginning of your channel. Can't wait to see where this new van will take you and Occy and I will forever be a viewer as long as you keep putting videos out 😊 also love all the innuendos 😆
Aw thank you Kaila I appreciate that so much!! ❤️
Vlog style is perfect just as it is. I enjoy seeing each step.
Thanks Ken, really appreciate that!
@@MaxLeeandOccy I enjoy the style of your vlogs as well. Your videos are so relaxing for some reason.
More detail if possible lol
Loving this style of vlog. So many build videos leave me with a ‘how’d they manage that?’ You’re showing how. Well done Max.
Definitely agree
agree
Agree!
Thanks for the feedback mate!
No point in making a fit out look easy!
Mate, definitely continue with the ‘how to’ videos. Going to be an epic resource for heaps of people in the future. Thanks for doing these vids!
I hope so!!
Max, to answer your question about the videos being too detailed (or not), you make them like you want. If we get bored, we can always wind ahead. For us that like the detail and want to know how you do things, we'll probable watch every second. Big high-five to all your family support. Keep up the great work Bother!!!
Love the current format of the vlogs, keep the details, the sheep updates and the innuendos coming
Cheers Elaine! 😂
The length is amazing...
I’ve heard that before....
Said, to your mother. Like a true Aussie. LOVE it
Couldn't help myself mate
This wasn’t dry at all. I actually laughed quite a bit!
Great video. It was nice to see our mum so well. And your Dad and Judy helping as well. You got so dirty! A true van build. Nice work. I learned something.
I know I'll never do anything like this, but I find the detail fascinating. I have no idea how you do so much on your own and film as well - great job.
"The length is just amazing"
"yeah, I've heard that before" 🤣😂😃 You and your mom must have an amazing relationship. Hope you got a hug off camera.
Love watching how you are building your van mate keep the video’s coming just the way you are doing them. If people don’t like the way your doing it they don’t have to watch.
Thanks mate!
I'm loving the "how to" style of vlogs that you are making!
I'm genuinely looking forward for your videos! :)
I love that you are showing the nature on the farm aswell.
Keep up the amazing content and the happy spirit that you bring!
Much appreciation from sweden!
Stoked to hear it thanks mate!
The intro keeps giving me thrills!! The song used is so perfect for the shots. I also love that the video's are really long
I love that it shows what the van looked like in it's original state and then each video shows the progression!
I really enjoy your How-To style videos with details and I'm sure others like that format too! Your content is both fun and instructive! I really enjoy the fact that your are always relaxed, kind to others and that you bring a human touch to all of your videos! Oh and thanks for sharing your experience with us!! You're awesome!!!!
How very gutsy !! I know this is old (writing this in June 2023) but still commenting. Watched all the prior vids. And watching your évolution now. Can't wait to catch up ! ❤
The giggles at the accidental double entendres 😂
So many!!!
Lollll one for the top, one for bellow. Never underestimate the power of lub! 😂😂😂
"accidental"? I think not. Max is known for slipping those in. Ahem
@@kathifoynm max apparently isn't the only one that knows his way around an innuendo 😉
Kathi Foy And there's another one lol
sharing the detail of your build is exactly the way a conversion video should be ... Great videos keep them coming
Just love seeing other Vans being built like mine 😂👍😬
Thanks for the build tips mate!
Max & Lee you are absolutely welcome thanks for your encouragement and support really appreciated 👍🤓👍
Hello, I am 30 year old kindergarten teacher from Belgium (probably not the audience you would expect for a van build ;). I love following your adventures and struggles. You' re doing a great job by showing us the real thing. Both , the ups and downs. I also love it to relive the Australian rhythm all over again. The rhythm in Europe is often so fast-paced, life sometimes passes us by (before Corona times). A request from me; teach us some more Australian slang during your build :)
Big thumbs up ! 👍
Sab from 🇧🇪
👋 Max we been following and loving all your content, appreciate all details. I’m sure this video will help many who are in the middle of a van build. Thanks for all you share, looking forward to your next video 😊❤️🚚
Thank you and I hope so!
Don't know about anyone else, but I'm here for the 'How To' side of the build. I'd like to do one myself so everything you teach me is gold!
I'm so glad I found your channel. I have giggled in every build episode so far. You're such an Aussie bloke! 🥰
Max, love watching each step and the many processes it takes to get it right. Van builders need to see the ups and downs of making things fit when they mostly get "installing" and finished product like there is nothing to getting it done. You are real, you are a teacher, we are learning, and we are grateful. Thank you so much for taking the time to share this build with us.
He is so smart. I love his clear accent and easy step by step guide
Yes!!! Here we go again! 2:09
"Well hello there"
Gonna be another great video....charm charm charm
😉❤️
You worry too much. The video was great. I'm enjoying the "how to" aspects of these segments. Don't change it!
It’s a good mix of “how I did this” and “we need more sheep”.
Well done!
The perfect combo 👌🏼😂
Dont change a thing with your vids !
For the last 12 month ive been trying to gather as much knowlege as i can converting a van before i take the plunge myself,
and your vids so far have been a great help.
Keep doing what your doing... and thanks for all the knowlege your giving me !
This is absolutely amazing to watch! Loving the whole step by step vlog thing. Keep smashing it out mate!
Love the vids 👍
Thanks mate, stoked you are enjoying them!
You've somehow hit on the perfect balance of how-to and less technical content, in my opinion. I eagerly look forward to each and every new video, and I've never done that with any other vlog. Even when this channel was about your travels with Lee and Occy, I would let a few notifications go by and catch up later - and I love Lee and Occy, but for some reason I really look forward to checking in and seeing how your new build is coming along. You have a natural ability to connect through the camera and it's genuinely fun to just hang out with you a bit now and then. Keep up the good work!
Aw thank you, I loved hear that!
Because you're " easy on the eyes" I actually enjoy watching this van build come together.
😉
“And now it’s all unattached and ready to get out, just like me” 😂👍🏼👏🏻 you’re great max, honestly this video isn’t one I see often on van builds, where they’re showing the process of messing with connections to the actual van (such as the diesel connector that you’re doing or the electrical that charges the batteries while you drive), so thank you! And I hope Occy gets home soon!
No, not dry. Very helpful. I am working out a van build in my head as I look for the right van to build. Between you and Eamon and Bec, its helping immensly understand what I need, what needs to be done and in what order and how to lay it out ahead of time. The diesel heater was one of mysteries. Thank you! 🌞
I love the how to. I find it fascinating to see the process and if and when I decide to do this I can learn from your mistakes!
Hi Max Maud Spain here. Kind of stumbled on your page about 1 year ago. Lost it for some time but found my way back about 2 months ago. I must say I really enjoy watching your work on your new van and the way you " make "your videos. And considering the fact that I don't own a van, converted or not, and most likely never will😉 the fun I'm having watching this should tell you how good and how fun your videos Are!! Heck I'm learning things I've never known before!!😆😆. And I've done my fare share of preparing old cars in my life. So keep up the good work and can't wait to see the finished van. Maud Sweden/Spain.😄🇸🇪🇪🇸

I really enjoy watching the details of the build. I plan on building out my van this summer. Thanks for all your hard work.
Max says - "Completely unattached and free like me"
Loads of females under 30 - Yes! 😁
@@JoesCaribbeanVanLife - Ha, ha. I'm 57 and thought it would sound bad if I didn't specify an age range LOL.😁 If only I was 30 years younger.
@@jmk1962 yes but doesn't he bring back memories of our youth and those fun times! 52 here and I love his videos!

@@suzannealcantara7725 interesting how this hot auzzie tamale has all the mature ladies watching!!!
@@kimberlypuravida5690 all just wishing we were young again. His accent and adorable personality have me watching. Can't wait until Occy joins him on some travels.
Happy to see the whole of it all, that way I have something to go back to when I do my van build.
this was actually a great watch!
I thought so too was kind of surprised when he said it was a dry video. Very interesting!! And some of those camera shots you know where a b**** to get!!
Fantastic ending music Max. Great to see Jane, Dad and Judy helping you out. You did a good job of creating tension on the vlog. I said to myself at one point, "he couldn't have gotten blown up soaked in diesel fuel or else we wouldn't have this episode."
Can't see anymore videos without Occy❤️😭
He gets him back in July
The vids are perfect. How-tos are important, and you season them with enough humour to stop them from being too dry. Loved that "just keep unscrewing things; it'll be right" from your mate! 😂
I've been waiting patiently and checking to see if you had uploaded this episode all day, ended up staying up later than usual and just as I go to shut down my laptop I decide to refresh youtube one more time at 12:19. Big mistake haha! Bugger it, it's going on.
Ha sorry mate!
How to videos are the best..Thank you for all your help.
Love that you take your time to do the work really well and not fudging anything along the way! Well
done !
How to is great. You have an honest approach which makes it look more manageable to anyone thinking of giving it a go.
Don’t stop the detail!! Hands down the best part. Really enjoying the amount of information provided. Congrats on the heat.
Hurray, a job well done. Warmth in the cold weather is a plus. Stay safe, healthy & happy. DIY is great.
Late to the party but the in depth trials and tribulations of DIY are appreciated on so many levels.......
So great to see your mum again! She is so lovely
I love you telling us step by step how you’re doing it & how it works. I’m looking into starting my own van build by myself so this is helping me out so much
Keep doing what you’re doing kid. Been watching your stuff for the last year and a half and I like it all. I was a frogman in Vietnam and served with a bunch of Aussies outside Vung Tau in 1968. Craziest bunch of MFers I ever met. Hard drinking and crazy… Great warriors. Listening to your accent takes me back to those times. Can’t wait to see where you go from here..... Jackson
I really like all the detail of your builds. The processes you sort through are both interesting and helpful for us builders!
I really like the way you do these videos...you are a natural teacher. It will be great for anyone else taking on a similar project.
The way you're presenting I feel is good, detail is good. Thanks Max.
Tell me why i read the thumbnail as “beautiful ebay in freezing out” lmao
Only you can know your own mind Eleni 😉
Great to see your mum again ... A really cool lady .
I prefer seeing the details. I'm learning a lot with each job you do, very informative, plus your narrative and personality make it all very entertaining.
Keep going the way you are Max...hitting it out of the park for me. Big sunny warm hugs to dad, Judy and mum from Florida!
For us Max we are absolutely LOVING this "dry style" of yours as you put it, as we are part way into a Sprinter van build of our own. Our first by the way, so your in depth instructional videos are invaluable to us.
On a side note I am a Kiwi expat, so the sheep side story is giving me a good chuckle, and a bit of ribbing from my partner, so thank you for that mate. Lol.
Aside from all the above, we are hanging out for the episode in which you will be re-united with your ole pal Occy. As dog lovers it's a given that we'll be emotional wrecks watching that! Take care man and we look forward to following this awesome series. Thanks so much, Nigel and Sue :-)
Amazingly patient and smart man. Great work.
Hey Max, I just wanted to say that I have been following you (and Lee) for sometime now on UA-cam. I don’t recall how but it’s just like keeping up with following your favourite sitcom or series. I’m pleased this time around I am able to follow you from the start of your new adventure and I find your vlogs very natural and enlightening. I look forward to following your journey, keep up the good work. All the best.
Great job Max. Love the videos. Glad we got to see Jane. Love your Dad and Judy too.
I’m here for the how-to’s Max. This was great - really helps to see the good, bad and ugly sides of a van build. 👌🏻
No, the building is fascinating. I'm a lady that loves to do mechanical things. And I'm totally interested in the building of a van for living. It was nice to see your mom. She's very sweet and fun.
Thank you for another video. Just continue in this “how to” way. It’s really a super help for us. You’re a great explainer (should that exist!). We also like to know about Jude though. What happened to the sheeps after all?
The current video style is perfect man. Seeing the final product isn't as satisfying if we don't get to be on the journey! Definitely learning some things too while I'm watching.
Happy Belated Birthday Judy! 🎂 You are so adorable, no need to be camera shy. I'm positive I am not your only fan.
Oh Max, don't change a thing. Watching you do the work is calming. It makes it easier for me to do after seeing your work. 👍
Enjoying this build a lot, even though I know nothing and will likely never build out a van:) It was technical but interesting to see how you addressed the challenges. It is always nice to see you interact with family; you are blessed to have them! Thanks for sharing this new adventure, Max! 🌈 ☀️
Loving the 'how-to" it's great that you're showing the grit rather than just the glam shots. It really shows how much work and energy goes into a good van build.
I'm from Malaysia and I do love watching your video's. It would be much more wonderful to see Max and Lee together building the van. Good luck in your new project Max.
Hi Max, really enjoying these how to videos as there are not many about converting Ivecos. I will be getting my Iveco in about 4 to 6 months time so please make sure you keep these tutorial type videos coming. As a woman about to embark on a van build by herself, I’m finding them extremely usefuland am extremely grateful for them. Thanks for all the effort you put into them.
How can you not like what max does . Thanks buddy for showing us what you do mate . I’m from Vic has well.👍
Great video max! You turned something boring into entertainment! Please keep up this style. We are gleaning so much from your work! Great how to!!
Another great episode - was worth staying up that little bit longer! To answer your question, I wouldn't change the style of video, they're very informative and it can be difficult to find step by step videos. I also like that you're not ashamed to say you don't have any experience with some of these things other than doing some of your own research and having a crack for the first time, because it encourages us to do the same after we see you succeed. The banter is all good too, maintain!
Love watching the step by step process Max. ... And seeing all your loved ones. You live in an amazing place. My dad has a really really old Volkswagen camper. It rattles and hums and squeeks... I wouldn't think the guy who did the build did any if your amazing work ..... Well done...
Hi Max, Good to see the struggles under the van to learn how it all works. The content and down to earth manner you present is spot on. That's enough blowing smoke up your arse! We used to have this type of heater in the truck, fitted under the seat it was noisy but it was worth it to keep warm. All the best .Pete
Hi, Part of why I follow your channel is to learn about van building, so please continue with both your successes and what you learned from your few oops.
Totally love the “how-to” videos - including the struggles. Great work!!!
I prefer the “how to” style and watch as you make decisions and choices and why you make those choices. It is a learning experience and you share that with us.
I love what you are currently doing with your videos - seems like we get to enjoy more of your personality
Dang, that's going to be SO awesome going forward, not having to refill a second tank. Thanks for sharing this project with us!
I for one really enjoyed the video. This new channel is going to be much more interesting when Occy arrives back on scene. Keep us updated on his eventual return please.
The whole time you were messing with the gas tank, I couldn't get the memory of my Dad blowing up his car and almost burning down his new garage and attached house. The light fell and created a spark. Wow BOOM.
Keep going with what your doing. Little bit of both, some lifestyle and technical. Perfect
Keep videos as they are is my vote. I enjoy watching the “how to” - once you hit the road I will remember the work you out in. 🤘🏼
Great install Max. GREAT TO SEE JANE BACK AGAIN.!!! Yes it's great to see the detail. CHEERS Steve h
max. I think the details are important for a lot of us who might build out a van. I really appreciate the links to all of the products. thank you much.
This is the video that made me found Max & Lee! Then watched from the start of the build!
I have been really enjoying the level of detail you include. I'm sure it will be more helpful for those who are considering they're own build as well. Keep up the great work Max!
This way of filming things is just perfect cuz it's a build. When you start traveling and doing stuff then a more fun and compact video it is ok. Love this one! xoxo
Thanks Beatrice!
Another great video from the build.Looking forward to see next one.Judy again makes me smile.
Keep doing what you're doing. Great job and enjoy watching you noodle it out. Not dry at all!
Don’t change a thing! Really enjoying the videos - as they are! Occy will be ‘the cherry on top!’
We love the content ! My husband is a mechanic and is enjoying your videos!
Hi there
Please keep this style of video, it’s helping me, and I’m sure others, learn how to do things.
It’s also good that you show the ‘mistakes’ and difficulties too.
Thanks for the inspiration and explanations.
We're really enjoying the detailed build videos, so keep them coming.
+1 on the detailed 20min+ videos, they are a great insight into each project you do. Loving it!
100% enjoying the detail! Our van was already converted to a basic standard so we just finished/upgraded it really. We’re keen to do a van from scratch now that we know what we want from it and these videos are super helpful!
