  • I made this film last year but chickened out publishing it. I'm slightly worried I am making my channel too varied! Comments welcome!
    As you can see on my channel. I have done many trips to the Alps. I'm not a well trained or practiced mountaineer. I'm very much in the camp of, research and have a go. Its far from the possibly more sensible modern approach of get a guide or go on a course before you think of leaving home. But way back in 2003 I wanted to do a solo trip to a big peak, off season. I chose Monch because its a relatively short climb, easy to get to but still spectacular. Id summited it before.
    All went well apart from me running out of sunscreen. The reason for the improvised tape nose guard ! The final ridge to the summit was a little sketchy for me this time so I stopped short. Not a big deal for me as I was just soaking up the environment. Loving the Mountains. I really do love the Bernese Oberland.
    As you will/have seen on the film, I was not to have the quiet out of season hut experience. About 30 people involved in the filming of Touching the Void descended on it after a day filming over on Jungfrau.
    I thought Id just try use some of the film from way back, this winter hasnt provided me with all the content I'd hoped for! ..... How time flies!
    Disclaimer;
    As usual. I'm no Pro, and its my choice to go try things like this. This isn't showing any how to dos. Its just tales from my travels. I don't expect you to copy anything I show.
    Have fun out there
    John
