Could you please explain why a wild horse like she is doesn't just kick you unconscious so she isn't disturbed in such a confined space by an unknown moving entity like you? Seriously....when will a wild horse attack and when not? Also, could you maybe explain at the beginning of your videos any terms lile "draw" that will be used in each video and that may not be familiar to non-trainers and non-owners who are watching? Or maybe post a glossary or a reference to one somewhere in the description area of your postings? Thanks very much for considering these questions and for your hard work to produce your wonderful channel.
She’s a good puzzle solver. She’s getting curious about you. It’s like she’s accepting her fate as she leaves the wild horse world and trying to figure out all this new foreign “stuff.” I think she’s a pretty smart girl. A keeper!!!
I am cityfolk , never had anything to do with horses but this completly dispels the idea of "breaking a horse" to me. A wonderful humane approach by someone with outstanding skills and patience, can't stop watching. Cheers
"I might as well try a bite. I haven't done that before. Okay, never mind." She's so beautiful. I love her beauty, and she has intelligence too. A great combination. You chose wisely:)
I like this mare, scar and all. To my eyes, she has a wonderful conformation. I like the set of her head and her topline. I like her intelligence and her willingness to work with you, even though she doesn’t quit understand it all.
She is going to be a fantastic horse! She has never seemed scared, cautious and wary, but not scared. she will let you do what you want to do but on her terms, once you have gained a little trust! Can't wait until the competition. I think she would be a good trick horse.
This was what struck me about her in the last (first) video. A lot of horses off the range are really terrified, and a hazard to themselves and others. This lovely lady is surprisingly calm. She’s a great horse, once she’s decided you’re trustworthy she’ll be amazing.
I think her name should be Liberty 🥳 you mentioned that she experiences liberty when she gives into the pressure. Her trust in you brings her freedom. I’m learning so much watching you, thanks for including us in this special journey.
I know your a professional but thankyou for treating her with kindness and respect. her scars show she's been through alot and has survived so she is a fighter. I look forward to watching her journey and wish nothing but good things for her.prehaps a carrot 🥕 for being a good girl.she has probably never had one before.
No “buts” about it, that’s how Ryan treats ALL horses - that IS his method. He is that kind and respectful toward owners too. You’ll see as you watch more of his videos.
All I could think watching this video was "Damn! What a SMART horse!" She's so clever and level headed, and I think you're gonna be able to do so much with her. Her being able to figure all of these challenges out is also a testament to you skill, patience, and knowledge. Way to go!! I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we're waiting with bated breath on the next videos.
I just subscribed to your channel I've seen some of your videos but this one is particularly good. That is a beautiful horse and you're a really good person. She either got caught in a barbed wire fence or a mountain lion scratched her back or maybe even a bear I'm kind of surprised with that kind of a scar that she's even still alive. You are very fortunate that you got that horse it's a beautiful horse.
I love watching how sensitively you cue off her responses to pressure, movement, etc. And this horse seems quite willing to participate with you, so that bodes well for the outcome you're working toward.
I love the name Dutchess or Kahleesi, she is a strong mare who has been through many trials and still remains level headed, soft, and gentle, yet stern and confident in herself. She is incredible and you Ryan are probably one of the best horsemanship trainers I have seen to date, I follow everything from you and your journeys, I can’t wait to become a patreon!
There used to be a small independent soda pop company across the road from my house for the first 7 years my life. One of the ladies who worked there was the mother of a friend of my much older sister, and used to keep vanilla ice cream in the freezer and make me floats when I went over to see her. Your girl's coat reminds of the way the foam bubbled up when the root bear was added over the ice cream. Light on top, with the dark root beer below. We had a soda fountain in our business as well, that had Shasta soda in it, so when I was learning to talk, all sodas were Shasta to me. If I was naming your girl here, that is what I would name her... Shasta.
I loved horses when I was a young teenager. I got away from them when I was a mid teenager. Now that I'm 60 and mobility challenged I find your videos incredibly fascinating! I look forward to my nightly watching of your videos!
Hey Ryan! I've been following you for about 2-3? years now and always learn sooo much. I love your kind methods and am so impressed that you (unlike so many) haven't let your fame go to your head. You remain so humble and always honest and for this I have so much respect for you. I would love to be able to join your Patreon page but due to living in Australia and like so many places around the world our cost of living is shocking.. hence the conversion of our Aussie dollar to your American dollar is quite outrageous. I am so very grateful for the free content you share with us but do feel like I'm missing alot of the process due to not being able to afford joining your Patreon page. By no means do I wish to be rude or out of line in asking this but would it be at all possible to show us a little more of this process please? We have many brumbies (and owners/trainers) in Australia who would greatly benefit from your methods. If you're unable to do this I do understand but thought I'd be brave and ask 🙏. Thankyou as always for your amazingly kind and informative videos.. 🐴💖✨️
Ryan I’ve only been watching you for a few months but I love your gentle ways. You’re a lot like the clever cowgirl. Both do excellent jobs with horses in a gentle manner. I can’t wait for your next video.
I’m so impressed with your calm energy and lack of fumbling with all the tools while allowing her to gain confidence. Demonstrates your professionalism. Thanks for sharing this journey.
So great to see her curiosity and watch her asking questions. I love it when she started coming off the adrenalin and yawning. You've made great progress with her! The crickets in the background are a great sound effect. 😊 She seems to actually like the sound of your voice and calms when you're talking.
Thx Ryan for sharing. Don't have a horse, Will never have one. I love watching your videos. She's a beauty! She's going to be absolutely awesome when you get to wash and brush her. Be save. Exciting for the next video. May God bless you and keep you save. From Payson AZ
I am in LOVE with your GIRL ! So Glad Things Are Going So Well - - So Even - - Your Patience and Gentle Focus is What She Needs and Likes - - Good On YOU BOTH !
I love the "nose, neck, and maybe the feet"! (in the past, watched Parelli faithfully but no more horses in my life). I sure enjoy watching you work with horses. Excellent work!
Big fan of the channel I’m 22 and started my first one a year ago and watching the channel helped me and my sweet girl get to where we are now thank you much love to you and the channel
Eeverytime I watch, I see the progress and bonding - it makes me so excited to see what will happen with you two as you progress. I am guessing she is not going to disappoint! Nor you! Good work, Ryan!
I find it so interesting how you start her differently than I was told. I stood outside the pen and did clicker training. Second day inside. My first goal was to touch her. Which I was able to on the first day. Only then I did any yield. Rope came much later. I am always fascinated how these different approaches work. I am looking forward to more videos from you.

You have gotten a wonderful horse there, as she is not only stunning but also has a calm, curious and smart temperament. I bet you couldn’t be happier with your choice! She has little to no fear, seems to trust you. She must have been a high status mare in her wild herd.
I loved watching this in part because of how beautiful she is. I love the powdered sugar look with a black mane. And good job, Ryan. I admire your patience and slow systematic approach.
Hey Ryan, I use a helping hand on my mustangs: it's a stuffed glove taped to the end of a broom handle. It simulates the feel of a hand petting them without being too close in the beginning. Great for desensitizing the legs too.
Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us all ,,wish I could join your patron page but not possible at this time 😢 so will just hope you keep posting her progress on here ❤
Amazing patience you have Mr Rose. Best horseman on UA-cam. Good job it's your own horse and not someone paying you an hourly rate though. They'd need some deep pockets.🤣🤣💰💰💰
tis cool you taking this approach to her training. I think you are very appreciative of how animals are in their particular moment, which is a great skill for trainting any animal ! You are quite right about this particular day of training! I like your approach!
she is gorgeous. very curious about you as you were walking up to her. i wonder how she got the scar? it looks deep. maybe a predator? she is lucky to have you for her introduction to domestic horse life xoxoxox godspeed!
The cliff hanger! 🫣 I always love getting some bloopers and humor at the end. While she did attempt to bite, she seemed so slow at it, almost like her warning you. She definitely seems to have a great demeanor.
that was a confident move on her part. LOL don't get close to me, but I can reach out to bite you. Ryan you got thinker on your hands. LOL. good work, be safe. I look forward to seeing you both again.
I could watch you all day Ryan. I love this horse. For her name I would pick Spice. She looks like cinnamon with powdered sugar sprinkled on top. I bet there is also going to be some hidden spices in her spirit. Just a pinch for good measure.
that horse is a gorgeous roan love her colors and pattern. some good feeding and exercise will get her muscled up. they are very athletic horses. even the smallest of mine could carry me at 175 lbs. plus gear in the mountains. this mare is a good size.
Stunning video and amazing work. It's just so interesting watching her learn things for the first time. You'll have the perfect name, but I vote for Selene, the Greek Goddess of the Moon.
I had a filly, that I raised that was from the start very guarded of her face. I had to sell her at 6 months so I never got a chance to help her thru that. But every horse has something that they say nope to every time lol and for her it was her face. could care less where else I touched her. She would even lean into scratches but nope to the face and ears, could pick up all her feet and rasp them, brush her, put flysheets on her. But nothing around the face lol
It’s amazing I haven’t been on a horses back in like 11 years. And haven’t been heavily riding in the last 20 years but when I was a baby my mom always put us on a horses back I rode and broke horses constantly when I was younger. We would get younger horses and my mom’s reasoning for putting us on their backs was we were lighter and easier on their knees. (They were always riding age) maybe she was actually afraid to do it herself. We broke them to ride most of the time but some horses I just wouldn’t mesh with well one turned out to be an awesome horse for my sister. Anyway watching his videos I’m now seeing all of our training was wrong. They had basic ground work but no where near the ground work they needed. And just the way he does pressure and release, I had never done anything like that. I had one pony my mom didn’t want to get for me because she said she was too much for me, well I kicked and screamed and she caved (not sure it was that dramatic) she turned out better be one of my favorite horses. I rode and took her everywhere. I had a few great horses when I was younger. Others my personality didn’t mesh with theirs. There are some horses that are just for you.
Hey Ryan, if you take on another project like this, with overnight camping and all, you might consider a hammock. Way better than a cot, and easily accommodates a mosquito(fly) net.
Nice job, Ryan, with desensitizing her as much as you did to your presence. She was able to accept your touch with one hand, while your other hand was holding the rope away from her where she could see it. But it seemed that she was not ready to have you close beside her with both of your hands on or near her. Perhaps once she becomes comfortable with you having both of your hands close to her, petting her neck, back and face, she may be more trusting of you fiddling with and connecting a facial rope (we call it a halter) to her. :)

She's beautiful
She really never stops thinking. Even when she’s startled, she resets to trying to think her way out of the situation rather than freaking out.
She’s a good puzzle solver. She’s getting curious about you. It’s like she’s accepting her fate as she leaves the wild horse world and trying to figure out all this new foreign “stuff.” I think she’s a pretty smart girl. A keeper!!!

Me too!!!
Horses have huge energy field in comparison with animal size..is that why we are so drawn? I just love them all!!
Anytime a cool and collected redhead has you running after them, I'm pretty sure their name is rightfully Jolene.
Gee, her demeanor is quiet soft and you are being as gentle as possible. I see wonderful things ahead
Please keep us in her journey. Not all of us have horses. But we can live through you training her. Thank you for loving her.
"I might as well try a bite. I haven't done that before. Okay, never mind." She's so beautiful. I love her beauty, and she has intelligence too. A great combination. You chose wisely:)

She is starting to trust you more. She understands more and more you are trying not to be a danger to her. Well done.
She was snorting last night cuz she was trying to desensitize you....😂
Ha ha@
Yeah she's definitely going to have quite the personality once she comes out of her shell😅
I know your a professional but thankyou for treating her with kindness and respect. her scars show she's been through alot and has survived so she is a fighter. What scars?
@@pippylongstockings8600 The dark lines and splotches on her back and rump.
@@pippylongstockings8600 At her back end, pretty large, probably, as the community figured out, by a mountain lion or some other large cat/predator.
@@Turbine030 I know he mentioned it when he first got her but I didn't really notice it before this video. It must have been a nasty wound.
I love how gentle and loving and patient you are with her💖🌟

The fact that she is left brained probably saved her from the cougar. She thought rather than just blindly panicked.
She has such a "soft, kind eye" and a "good mind." you chose a winner!
Call her Liberty. This process is amazing to watch. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. She’s going to be a great horse for you.

Beautiful mare. Incredible work! ❤❤❤
She is so attentive and curious. Very focused on figuring YOU out. Lovely girl.
She is quite remarkable! Your explanations throughout are very helpful and show your deep understanding of the horses mind and instincts.

Hey Ryan, I use a helping hand on my mustangs: it's a stuffed glove taped to the end of a broom handle. It simulates the feel of a hand petting them without being too close in the beginning. Great for desensitizing the legs too.
I ve been doing the. same. Esp with horses that kick when sb touches the hind legs...

I Like Her ! Appears to be a very Thinking little filly ❤❤❤. It is OH so important that the Trainer knows more than the horse ❤❤❤❤
