He spent first half of the race behind a long traffic, since Magnussen was defending hard against Perez, there's almost under 1 second gap between every car from Perez to Albon. After Magnussen was overtaken and cars started to pit, he overtook them one by one finished the race 5th (thanks to Norris). Nobody could get a better result than this with these conditions, like no safety car at all etc.

And that's what Gasly couldn't get on with. So, good for Albon, he has 'attachments' in place, now it's just a matter of getting on with new tools to get to the top
