    Thank you, this was fascinating to me, I’d very much like to see more case historys, your work is valuable and complex.

    Very interesting especially to see the interconnectedness of solution with potential consequences not realized initially.

    Like they say in psychology / psychiatry "normal" the only "normal" thing is just a program on the washing machine. It is interesting that once my doctor explained the "normal" ranges for example in blood tests indicate nothing and you must see the patient as a whole. Great video Vik, thank you.

    Do you have any stories about UARS patients? That would be really interesting as it's not a very well known condition.

    Very nicely narrated, a bit like a detective story :). Also good to know - I've had a thyroidectomy and, although my hormone levels are normal, I feel tired starting about 1 year after the surgery. Maybe it's something to look into, if my PSG will show no apnea.

    Never seen young doctor with so much passion for the subject. Simply amazed with growing knowledge and understanding of the subject explained even more simple ways. I am a sleep apnea patient and have gained tremendous understanding of the problem through your videos. From India, Namaste 🙏

    That's very interesting. My sleep apnea seems to have got significantly worse in the past couple of years despite losing a significant amount of weight, mainly sleeping on my side and learning to breathe through my nose day and night. I'm very much looking forward to my private consultation with you in a month's time and hoping you can find out what is going on!

      I tried SINGING FOR SNORERES by ALISE OJAY - exercises the throat and tongue - and it helped but still get some bad nights

    • @usaman7358
      @usaman7358 2 роки тому +1

      How are you learning to breathe through your nose at night? That's a big issue for me as I can kind of breathe through my nose during the day if I concentrate (deviated septum) but at night my mouth is open 100% of the night

    Thank you so much for doing these videos you really have given me hope. This one I can relate to a little. Currently waiting for sleep clinic referral but such a long wait. Started getting extreme weak and short of breath and high bp during the day to the point I ended up in a&e. Waking up at night with palpitations and choking. All heart tests are fine. Like this woman thyroid was borderline for me but now being treated for that. A month in not much difference. Did a sleep apnoea home study turns out moderate sleep apnoea and severe hypopnea. I have a problem with grinding my teeth to the point Ive been know to bite through new bite plates within a week . Watching your channel has taken away so much guilt over weight issues as I know now the reason for my struggles with this. I'm just desperate to feel well and get my life back. I'm so devoid of energy. This video had given me hope, thank you.

    This is so fascinating! I'm waiting to see an ent with the HSE here in Ireland. Unfortunately the waiting lists are very large so I'll be waiting a while yet. I've been doing your exercises for snoring and I do think they're helping. I still wake up gasping for air but not as much as I was. Thank you ❤️

    Sounds like me! Did someone read my email plea to UCH? I have been on list at UCH Sleep Clinic for over a year but they wont see patients face to face. No one has taken a history or done other tests ( apart from inconclusive home sleep study). What can I do? Also get pulsatile tinnitus.

    • @VikVeerENTSurgeon

      The hospital are making us a new floor in the hospital to bring together all four sleep centres at UCLH together. we are all in limbo at the moment waiting for this. I did send your email off, not sure what happened since sorry. I have very little control apart from the patients that are on my clinic list each day. I would call up and speak to someone. emails are hard as I get over 600 a day and I'm sure management get more.

    Thank you for realising that just because what is written down as "normal" is not always normal for people. I have this issue with B12. I function great with a high level of B12, but as soon as it drops, my symptoms come back so it's nice to see medical personal realising, but also accepting, that normal isn't always normal. I unfortunately don't know my "good" level of B12 pre-when all this started for me, but I do know that when it's very high compared to the normal range I function.

    • @VikVeerENTSurgeon
      @VikVeerENTSurgeon  2 роки тому +2

      please have a look at this video which explains that B12 levels aren't very good at working out how high your B12 levels are - you need to check for homocysteine and malonic acid to get a better idea about your B12 levels. B12 levels can be high on the test but in actual fact you might be deficient.
      I hope it helps.

      @@VikVeerENTSurgeon I was diagnosed as likely to have pernicious anaemia but no markers on the intrinsic factor, however my first B12 level was under the minimum of normal. So I did the 6 booster jags, then switched to 3 monthly, which wasn't much cop, so was moved to 2 monthly. I can't get it any faster, so I follow most people who are diagnosed with it and self inject more often.
      I stopped when my last blood test/b12 jag showed it as above normal levels as I was feeling really good symptom wise etc, to check how I feel with going back to the 2 monthly, but by 6 weeks (now) it has really hit me again, so I'm going to start again. The only thing I do is take folate as well to help bind it, I believe. Unfortunately 2 monthly via the NHS is the most I can get, and not had any of the mentioned tests done with it, so I'll just carry on doing it myself and know I feel much better that way. I suspect I need a high amount to be normal, but because it's at the top end of normal it looks like I've tons to spare to do me the 2 months. But it doesn't. All I get is that I'm within the range, so everything is groovy on the tests.

    Did anyone check her FT3 level? I used to have sleep apnea when I was on levothyroxine monotherapy and I was severely hypothyroid despite a TSH of 2. I have Hashimotos and atrophic thyroiditis. My throat swelling and myxedema symptoms resolved after I changed to LT3 (liothyronine) therapy.

      @@VikVeerENTSurgeon Hi Dr Vik, I had my Watchpat sleep study done a few months ago and spoke to you on the phone. My sleep study came back negative for apnea but you did mention some snoring. I’m still waking up gasping for air some days as my airway becomes closed, also snoring very loudly, my BP has shot up and I’m suffering from severe brain fog and chest tightness, I do not feel well at all, I feel like the sleep study has missed out on UARS….
