Yeah apparently someone other than absofacto uploaded this to spotify, which is where I first heard the song, then it got taken down and I was very upset, glad someone reuploaded it here

This is beautiful and I’m just discovering it
I think this song is about how he built a small following during his indie rock days and was probably offered some sort of deal with a bigger company; He rejected it because he wanted to do things his way. He knew people who make these deals with the devil end up going down in one way or another eventually. He doesn't have to take instructions on how to make his music or express himself now and can use in passion and talent to slowly reach more and more people with his message and change society in a small but positive way, but he has to keep all this to himself for some reason, maybe because it would distract from whatever message he wants to communicate.
This is just what I think, not claiming it actually happened.

Adding a reply years later to say that I also found this watching Day9 back in the day. What a time that was. Funday Monday was a staple in my schedule and I miss it so much. I'm glad others have this same experience and nostalgia.
