      Indeed. Good pens. Doesn't smear when left hand passes through the writings. Might buy the orange stabilo. Hahaha.

      Absolutely, I find that us lefties need much more from a pen, especially as most of us have quite strange grips and hand positions when writing

    For anyone interested... you can replace the hybrid ink refill in the Uni Jetstream Alpha Gel Grip with either a Pentel Energel or Zebra Sarasa gel refill. No modification necessary!

    Uniball Vision .5 are a super Value in a 12 pack. They last about 60 pages of 8x11 spiral notebook paper. Before I discovered the Zebra Vintage, I used the vision pen for 14 years straight.

    Also, for those who wish to highlight their written text, I suggest using an oil-based or hybrid ink. These particular inks hold up well to highlighters as they are less likely, if at all, to smear.

    "Sailor Profit Black Luster" fountain pen is made for law school students, to be used at Bar exam. That pen has center of gravity front-heavy, so possible to write for many hours without being tired. The predecessor of that pen was "Sailor Profit FL". "FL" means "for lawyer".

    What works best for me during long writing sessions is a smooth ink, a weightier pen (metal body - no more than 25 grams), and a decent grip size (no smaller than 9 mm, no larger than 11). If the ink is smooth and the pen body is light, I find that my hand/wrist runs quickly across the paper, which makes writing errors more likely to occur. If the grip is too small, my fingers cramp up after some time. I've found 3 inks that work best for me: (1) Pentel Energel gel - 0.7 mm tip, (2) Zebra Sarasa gel - 0.7 mm tip, and (3) Zebra Surari hybrid - 1.0 mm tip. Of all the pens in my collection, the ones that work well for longer writing sessions that provide balance are (1) Zebra Sarasa Grand and (2) Zebra Surari 300. The one smooth ink and plastic body that feels the most comfortable for me is the Papermate Inkjoy gel pen, both the capped and retractable versions.

      Thank you for your response. I just read what I wrote 2 years ago, and it's incredible how things have changed for me these past 24 months. Currently, the ink that works best for me are: (1) Pentel Energel gel 0.5 mm tip, Zebra Sarasa gel also in 0.5 tip, and Uniball Jetstream hybrid also in a 0.5 tip. I rarely write with 0.7 tips, and I only use blue or blue-black ink for my everyday writing. I've also been enjoying using my 1.1 mm stub nib with Diamine Oxford Blue. I haven't used Papermate gel pens for a year now. Everything else I wrote in my earlier comment still holds true. ✍🏽👩🏽‍🦱

    i'd be very curious what the longest lasting gel pens/refills are. For those who do a lot of writing, running out of ink all the time is ridiculous. i realize pens are a hobby for some people, but for others, the idea of having to establish a budget for ink and pens is absurd.

    No fountain pen for longer writing session?

    • @RobotPorter
      @RobotPorter 4 роки тому +1

      Yes, I think fountain pens are the best for long writing sessions. Because of the fact that you don't need to apply any pressure. Gel pens try to create that experience. But they're not too close.

  • @mod4rchive

    gel pens best for note taking, ballpoint best for tests. rollerballs and fountain pens i cant really find a good use for them. the liquid ink really doesnt work.

    • @CaptainWumbo
      @CaptainWumbo 5 років тому +2

      Joaquin Torres Depends on paper quality and wetness of nib. If you can't choose paper, a japanese extra fine will work on most paper.
      I actually find it surprising in a video about writing comfort ballpoints are prominently featured, as unlike fountain pens they need pressure to write. I would rather use a mechanical pencil with a soft grade of graphite than a ballpoint if fountain pen was not a good option.

    • @mod4rchive
      @mod4rchive 5 років тому +1

      @@CaptainWumbo i tried it tho. the problem Is bleeding, and it depends on the quality of the ballpoint.

      and graphite smears all over the place, more than any pen

    • @mod4rchive
      @mod4rchive 5 років тому +2

      the only problem left with ballpoint is railroading/start up

    • @CaptainWumbo
      @CaptainWumbo 5 років тому +1

      I see, well stick with what is best for you. I am right handed and write from under, so my hand doesn't touch my writing and it works for me. When I draw I keep a sheet of paper under my hand so I don't smudge what is already there.
      You could try a technical pen, which dries very fast. Smudging is not exactly a problem of liquid based ink so much as it is a problem with dye based ink (which fountain pens require). A felt tip should be usable for normal writing, the metal isograph ones are not so good for writing but are nice for drawing.
