In a big update, the FT reports Japan is on the brink of obeying US punishments on China. This is a lose-lose situation as Tokyo risks its entire semiconductor industry and automakers to appease Washington. Meanwhile, a major Western industry is facing total collapse as they can't compete with cheap Chinese exports.

Crooked Trump said, It’s a tax on the country that stole our jobs!” But how are they stealing your jobs when they make better products and sell them for less than half you do? Isn’t that the essence of capitalism and free trade enterprise that you have been promoting for the last two centuries around the world? And if you care so much about keeping jobs in the US then why all of your clothes, ties, hats, souvenirs, bobbleheads, and other products are all made in China, Crooked Trump? Something doesn’t add up!

They don't say that. Trump says that his tariffs "make China pay." Yet they're paid fully by Americans who buy Chinese products. Not a cent is paid by China.

its impossible to fight the price war because China had mastered industry logistic like no others, there are city sized mall that offer bulk-buys and specialize supplier, there are literally a factory that specialize in simple stuff like bolts, screws and Lead soders. On top of that they have extremely efficient delivery lanes that can get goods from A to B in days. That's alone saves tons of time and money and is the main reason why thing are cheap, not because they're poor in quality like most people assume, quite the opposite to be honest.

I live in the US, and it is getting bad. About a week ago, I went to CVS to buy some over the counter medications. I saw people shoplifting, people were putting one thing in the shopping basket, and another in their purse or under their shirt. Since prices have more than doubled since 2020, people are coping with the inflation by giving themselves a 5 finger discount.
It is so bad, that some stores are locking up every item, like Rite Aid. If inflation gets worse, this problem can get worse.

If you live in the USA you would know that many states like the one I live in California has basically legalized theft under $950. Nothing to do with inflation. At my local CVS before they put their laundry detergent behind a locked case they had one regular person always stealing the laundry detergent. This guy asked them why they locked up their detergent, the lady said because of you.

With tariffs Americans are forced to pay more, businesses make less profits and laid off workers. Unemployed workers collect unemployment and everyone has to pitch into the system to pay for their living expenses. Good strategy here…

    • @grandwonder5858

Yeah, like when the US placed 250% tariffs on Chinese solar panels a few years ago in order to get the American people to buy expensive, inefficient American-made solar panels, but that scheme failed miserably because who would want to pay three times more for solar panes that work less than three times as good as those Chinese solar panels? Before that 250% tariff rate hike on Chinese solar panels the American consumers remember they were paying three times less for a product that was three times better and so they simply stopped buying too many solar panels for their houses and businesses! Also, you tell us to stop elect these crooked politicians, but what choices do we have since the oligarchs simply presented to us two terrible candidates who are both owned by them?

But that would mean full scale global war ... short of that -- the U.S. COULD try to embargo Chinese oil shipments. And they have plans for that.
China is just being smart by planning for all options and weaning themselves off foreign oil as much as possible.
Imagine if Russia and Iran collapse ... and pro-U.S. regimes come to power AGAIN. It is unlikely but it has happened before. China cannot assume that they are safe from embargoes.

The sooner Japan becomes independent, the more prosperous it will be. To East Asians, historically China is like Greece and Rome.
If you want to see the Tang Dynasty, then go to Japan as traditional Japan preserved many of the culture, architecture, clothing, and ideas of the greatest Chinese Dynasty. During the Tang Dynasty, Japan was a principal exporter of fancy decorated fans for the cultured and beautiful Tang ladies. The Tang culturally influenced Japan, Korea, the Silk Road, and beyond.

The reason the Japanese government is even considering it is because their nation is under US military occupation, like Germany, though to a lesser extent. Japan is essentially subservient to the US since ww2. How much of China's dependence on foreign oil goes away if EVs take over the Chinese car market? 70% of oil consumption in the world is for transportation - it's probably about the same percentage in China. That's why more than 50% of cars sold in China this month are EV. Take away internal combustion engines and oil imports drop drastically.

If Japan get blocked out of the Chinese economy the the only place for them to go is to the US and that's what the US wants.

China's installed solar capacity is gargantuan.
The methodical process of upgrading old solar panels to new and more efficient ones is sufficient to drive down prices for the new panels to address increasing global demand.
Hence, Western solar panel manufacturers will eventually be wiped out in spite of tariff protection in their home markets.

Lower wages in CN in solar panels production not as big a factor as CN manufacturing is high automated. The production robots is very expensive and need the economy of scale to justify. With just the US' market such investment in automation could not be justified more labour will be required thus increasing further the wages costs. Thus on GREEN products, it is best for the World to get the cheapest, of say same quality as ALL must need to achieve their green target & the faster the better. US' objectives not to bring home jobs but to hobble CN's economy & ON THAT US WILL SURELY FAIL.

Tariffs are just going to raise the import prices from China & cost US businesses more money. You can not build on something that will not turn a profit. We are already in the Red. I guess they want to stay in the Red! The only way to bring manufacturing back to the US and produce a true profit is to lower the cost of living so wages can go down. Housing, cars, groceries, child care, etc, are too high in the US. At this point in time, the US has to have cheap imports. There is no way around it. We are set up as a " distribution center" that businesses can pull cheap imports from to assemble their products. The marketing/sales, accountants, management, assembly & shipping process, etc require the US labor market. This is the best option at the current time.
So, in short, to help US businesses continue paying the labor market, US distribution centers need cheap imports. These are the LEGOS!!! Thanks!❤❤❤❤
