- I am always impressed with Penny’s Box BJD’s and the Antu dolls in particular are so gorgeous! Their articulation is so impressive and I am blown away by the relatively low cost and the very high quality of the base dolls, the outfits and the accessories. I was NOT expecting these dolls to come with multiple outfit options so I am very pleasantly surprised. Another wonderful line of dolls from Penny's Box! Thank you SO MUCH to @kikagoods for sending me these dolls for free so that I could make this video!

AHH i am so happy you covered these dolls!! i have been WAITING for your video on them ever since i got some, i knew you would be getting them too because as a mermaid lover... how could you not?? the way the tails are made feels so innovative and revolutionary! they are CRAZY fun to play with and pose. plus the well constructed, beautiful outfits, how every mermaid feels totally unique and her own character but they all look so good together... i CANNOT recommend these dolls more highly! this is it! this is what i've been wanting from a mermaid doll and Penny's Box has made my dream come true!! 🥺💖
also wanted to say i too am so hype for the insect and dragon dolls!! KikaGoods stays getting the coolest stuff! i'm really excited that Penny's seems to be using the same technology from the mermaid tails for the dragon bodies, with even more sections! how cool is that?? and the insect girls look so unique and detailed, i already ordered some and as a bug lover as well i am just so happy dolls like this are being made for such a good price ;w;

These are seriously so natural and fun to pose! There’s very little I can’t do when I’m posing them- I love it. The way these Chinese BJD companies have EXPLODED with ideas and fantastic execution of those ideas in the past few years is incredible. You used to have to spend $200+ just for the tail for a mermaid BJD even from companies (individual artists I understand… but big companies?? Huh??)

Ever since they were announced/teased, I just knew you were gonna add them to your collection, haha. They're all so pretty!! The Antu line artists really outdone themselves! I definitely wanna get the whole set, I don't have the heart to buy just one when all the mermaids are so lovely 😭💕

I definitely love the Antu dolls… they are really, really cool. They are so good at bringing an interesting concept to life!
I bought 3 mermaid dolls from a different website for my granddaughter. They are jointed dolls with very pretty rooted hair and decorative hair pieces. Also their tails come off and they have feet underneath. I look for playability as I buy for kids. I think they are much prettier than these dolls, but that’s subjective. The dolls you are showing are very interesting! The cost per doll I paid was between $9-12 Cdn. These seem to be around the $30 price point. Too much for me, but I’m sure anime collectors will love these!

These cost more bc they are art dolls. They are not for little kids. I don't know the age for these but most art toys/dolls/figurines are 15+.
Please don't submerge bjds! The elastic can mold if you don't take the doll completely apart and dry it properly!

@@xCanadensisAs long as you keep track of the parts, restringing is really easy. There are really good tutorials on yt.
There are tricks to make the dolls hold poses better. I know Kikagoods made a video about the wire one. The second one works better on larger dolls and that is to put a thin layer of hot glue between the joints. You can also use thin rubber disks if you don't want to use hot glue, but those usually require that you take the doll apart.

I have the little Antu with darker skin too and I dabbed a tiny bit of hot glue in her joints (without taking her apart). She stands super sturdily now and holds any pose really well.

These are absolutely gorgeous! I do think these have lighter skin because it's a Chinese brand. Diversity is much lower in that country and even then foreigners aren't really taken into account when making these toys (thinking of Licca-chan for Japan as well). So even if diverse skin tones would look cute, I feel like fantasy skin colours would happen way before they'd even consider darker human skin colours
Oh I absolutely know there’s a lot of colorist issues over there but Chinese people actually can be quite dark. I know they’re mostly an ethnostate so I don’t expect literal diversity but not even representing your own people when you’ve done it before is a choice. Even Han Chinese are considerably darker in skin tone than this. It’s different and I don’t hold other countries to the social standards of the US but when I see a brand walk backwards it is frustrating
@@xCanadensis I think it's the same reason as why kpop idols are whitewashed so much or why they're so racist in such countries towards South-East Asian people as well. Darker skin is still seen as ugly and often still connected to poverty :((

These are my favourite of the blind box mermaids, because of how the tails are jointed. I don't really like it when the tail has leg type joints.
I’m not really sure what you’re implying but this situation is more like a seal or walrus where they use the tail for many things as opposed to just balance and signaling

The unicorn horn on mermaids makes them look like cute little narwhals it's really adorable... Also i love the mermaid whose color scheme looks like the transgender flag she's so cutes
They have more cute mermaids that are sitting in seashell chairs. I may get those because they look easier to display.

I plan to buy quite a few sets!! It just depends on my finances. I have a trip to a toy show next month that is gonna make me be a lot stingier than usual with online shopping. I’m hoping to get those cool Dragons and the Mermaid Chuchu soon!

There's not, but some sites will allow you to pick the one you want. You can also search bjd doll on Mercari or Ebay, sometimes people sell them if they get one they don't want :)

you just use an underwater camera! It can be hard because you have to weigh down the dolls and also not drown
