I saw Charo as a kid in the late 60’s. It has taken me this long, 2022, to know that what I suspected was true. She is as brilliant as she is beautiful with her heart and spirit.
As an old guy seeing her all those years on Johnny Carson I never imagined that she’d be an excellent guitarist. This is one of those ‘standard’ tremolo pieces in the classical guitar repertoire. But if you can play it, particularly as well as Charo played it, it really says something. I’m blown away and appreciative of seeing this video.
It is a crime that the men in her life packaged her as a bimbo for so many years. She is a brilliant muscian, and I wish i had learned the truth much earlier.
I agree. I never new she had any talent until all these years later. In my mind, she was always just a pre-Kardashian bimbo. I admit I now have a new-found respect for Charo. 🥰🙏
To her credit, I think she calculated it that way. I think she brilliantly played into the stereotype, taking full advantage of it. If I'm right, that was sheer genius, taking an incredibly misogynistic environment (that the world was decades away from even trying to address) and turned it against itself for her own gain. Brava!
My plain, shy mother loved her; she was an outlet for sexual feelings for an entire generation. But she began as a serious guitarist in her teens and has continued to practice seriously for decades. There's a reason she is both the best flamenco guitarist in the world AND a rich celebrity. No one like her!
You were a little off. This isn't JUST instrumental music, it's extremely highly skilled instrumental music. It's like that when it's done right. If it doesn't tell a story, then it's JUST instrumental music. When done properly, instrumental music should always move you in this way.
i think this one the sound got off kilter with the video a little bit... but it is a masterpiece... too bad she was just known as the hoochi coochi girl here in the states... evidently she was much more than that...
She's playing air guitar. The movements on her left hand don't match with the actual piece and and her right hand is all over the place to event perform a decent tremolo.
Charo is my Spirit Animal❤
Andre would be proud of his most beautiful student.

Yes I remember seeing her on Hollywood Squares, and at the time I had no idea she was so talented musically.

She is underrated.
Massively so.
ORGULLO DE ESPAÑA QUE REPARTA POR EL MUNDO TANTO ARTE ESPAÑOL ,, !!VIVA TU POR SIEMPRE CHARO!!!
You have given the world the most beautiful gift that is Charo. Muchisimas gracias
How can you not absolutely love Charo❣️🎶🎵🎶🎤🎸…she plays like heaven should be heard!❣️🙏🏻❤️☮️✨🌻☀️🌼✨
I've heard a lot of guitarists play this, but none this beautifully.
You've heard John Williams perform this, I assume.
@@PaulZinkFemales are better guitar players than men, assume all you want.
Well, that's the first time listening to this tune ever brought a tear to my eye.
And I thought all she could do is say "koochee koochee." What a talented woman, that has poise, talent, and beauty.
I didn't know she could play guitar that well. And I've never noticed a guitarist using thumb rest strokes while doing the tremolo. Talented lady.
She studied with Andres Segovia!
She was the winner of the flamenco guitar competition. The thumb rest strike is widely used in flamenco styles.
Anyone who doesn’t acknowledge her talent is fooling themselves.
It's great the way she launches straight into it without any prepping-totally natural playing
.

@@igimp1973 Bravvissima!
Un genio.
Aluna brilhante de Segovia.
!Excelente! What virtuosity. May Divine Providence keep her at the pinnacle of her many talents.

Que belleza
She's the greatest
Captivating!
Focusing on the fretting is only half of it - her strumming is so precise and effortless. Well done, Charo - thank you!
💚💝💖Bravo💖💝💚
This is an extremely difficult Spanish classic guitar piece
I know it's just instrumental music, but it sounds like she is telling a story with the guitar.
Music: to say what cannot be said by words alone.
Well... It is called memories from alambrah... What do u think it's telling

That piece is a b***h to play.
