Interspecies Marriage Between Human and Animal

The story of Sangkuriang actually comes from an oral tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation. It is not a new oral story, but it is hundreds of years old or even more than a thousand years ago. It turns out that the oral tradition regarding this story was also written in the Bujangga Manik manuscript which was written on palm leaves around the 15th century AD. Apart from telling the story of a young man who fell in love with his own mother, the story of Sangkuriang has become a legend about the creation of Mount Tangkuban Perahu, Mount Manglayang and Mount Putri. From this legend, we can estimate that Sundanese people have lived in the Bandung highlands for a long time.
