Best rock and roll marimba solo ever!
This song is like a time machine back to the mid 70s. Love it!
Best Pop Xylophone Solo - EVER!
I loved this song....you know a song is badass when it has a xylophone solo...
I was about 10 years old, my family and i were traveling to South Padre Island, Tx. My dad driving, me next to my dad, and my uncle next to me and the rest of my family stuffed into the backseat. This song comes out on the radio and someone int he back "subale" to pick it up (volume). I gladly did. This song reminds of the beach since then. Great memories.
man do i miss those days camping on the beach with a bonefire listening to this song.jus to much man
This was a big hit on a local station back in 76'. I was just 12 yrs old then. Loved it. One of my all time favorites from the 70's. Right up there with Fallin' In Love- , HAmilton Joe Frank and Reynolds, Baby Come Back-Player Too many to mention..
I was only 12 but man, everything was so much simpler back then.....those are such comforting memories.
At 46 years of age this is just about
my all time favourite track.
I am right back in my parents' living room, sitting on their flowered sofa & listening to this song from their big ass console stereo. Love it.
my little brother was conceived to this song. he drools a lot.
Fantastic song. I was 3 or 4 when this came out. I miss the 70's, all I think of is sunshine and bell bottoms. Good good times.
Kick ass tune and these guys are from Atlanta, GA. GO BRAVES! Being a drummer the marimba part is well executed. If Neil Peart was the drummer, he'd play the marimba part along with the drums for all you Rush fans (like myself) out there. Thanks for sharing as it brought back good memories listening to the tune.
you don't see or hear xylophones much in modern music after the mid 80s, I remember seeing these all the time on tv! what class!
Nothing corny about the 70's I was 5 in 1976 & Remember this song, they must have played it in 77-79 also. I Love the 70's music & what was around us during anytime of those songs is what brings back memories.
This is a great song. I was born in 1979, but I know good music when I hear it and this is good music.
I can't get over that drummer. Whatever he's on, it's gotta be some good stuff.
one of my favourite songs from the 70's
one of the best 70s songs of all time!!! The moon will send you on your way, ha haha.....
I love videos like this for exactly that reason. Starbuck and so many other bands from the era were professional musicians. Not that they got paid but professional in the true definition of the word. Not only were they masters of their craft, they were were creative, played with passion and the joy of performing a finely written tune. Many of them were also stunningly ugly. Still others were plain at best. We now have music performed by supermodels, and that's exactly what it sounds like.
ALL TIME GREAT SONG. Brings back some GREAT MEMORIES of that time. The Super 70's and they were.
I remember when I first heard this song in the summer of 1975. nice tune. too bad he was a one hit wonder. nice voice.
How in heck can there be 3 dislikes for this song? It is a classic I was 26 when it came out and I still enjoy it.. The moonlight still feels right
what a wicked percussionist...this tune is the baddest from day 1
Absolutely one of the best Feel Good songs ever!..
This tune captures everyhting.....including great chords and analog super sounds!!!
Always liked this song while stationed up in Keflavik, Iceland
God, this song brings back memories. The summer of '76 along Hood Canal and Whidbey Island. I was fourteen and that summer was magical. (Okay, call it corny. That's how I remember it.) More than any other song of that summer, this one brings back those wonderful memories. What the hell happened since then?
awesome song, brings so many memories
bring me back to 70's long hair, high heel, N.Y. L.A. thanks !
Great song, this group of talented musicians made a real impact short lived as it was. It had an impact on other groups to follow. I heard it on a sail boat in Bimini it was indelible! Thanks for posting it!
Beautiful tune !! Praise God Jesus !!
what a smoooooth song i love the mans voice it's perfect for the song
Beach music. Reminds me when I used to go to the Carolinas on business. I met a local girl. Sweet memories of long ago.
Yeah, everyone looked bizarre back then (I was nine) but I like the music from that era. Pretty much everything from Carpenters to R&B and disco...I liked it all!
The best marimba solo in this fuckin' world!!!! It's Awesome :D
This song brings back a lot of happy memories. Thanks for posting.
"A class of seven four gold ring"....Love it! Even though I wore a class of eight five ring myself, NOTHING tops the 70's classics! God, this stuff is timeless.
I love this song! Great arrangements, unique band.
whenever i listen to this song, i close my eyes and while my eyes are closed, i feel like im in ocean city maryland.
Its not a xylophone, 👏🏾its👏🏾a👏🏾MARIMBA!!!
That is the Happiest drummer I have ever seen, ha ha Awesome!
One of my FAVORITE SONGS OF ALL TIME!! Romantic, magical, amazing song - LOVE IT SO MUCH!!
Such talent!
A great song! Love that marimba solo! AM radio @ it’s best! 😌🎶❤️👍🏾
That drummer cracks me up!!!
Great Song!
Gotta have more xylophone! I gotta fever. And the only prescription is more xylophone.! One of those songs that makes you feel good.
No such thing as corny when something to you is magical. I was 15 and believe me, it was far from corny and still is far from corny. It was a time in our lives that was special and sweet. Hold that close forever because it's left us in the blink of an eye, right?
A single minimoog is never enough...
I was 13 when this hit the radio. My junior high band director was a remarkable guy named Stan Moore. I heard he ended up at the University of Indiana. Anyway, he called it a marimba as well and insisted that the entire percussion section knew how to play it. You're the man, Stan.
Being on the Midnight Special was a pretty big deal in the 70s - it meant you had a hit on the charts and people were taking notice
i love this song. makes my happy
I've always thought this was a cool song since I was a kid in 76
I love this song. It was made before I was born, though; I just turned 33.
I love the Moog Synthesizer sound. At least I think it;s a Moog.
MEGA TEMA!!! :)
i love this song...... i was only 16 and it was of the best summers that year and what a feelgood song it still is .....

The hat kicks ass!
Xylophone.......WOW!
Killer marimba solo!
love songs of the 70s yall aint nothing better
This and the song "Lido" by Boz Scaggs are very good examples of lead synthesizers in pop songs around the same time period.
Special announcement to all Starbuck fans. Starbuck is reuniting and performing their reunion concert on August 18th in Atlanta, GA at Piedmont Park for the Greatest Yacht Rock Revival in the Universe with many other hit artist from the 70"s such as Gary Wright, Robbie Dupree and Walter Egan. Should be a great all day and night concert.. Check it out if you can. Tickets are on sale now.
I was only around 5 when this song came out 💗 an I love it ♥️ its a cool song very groovy, very sexy, turn it up in your car I promise you won't be disappointed ❤️ 😀😎 an I just had to add you don't get the xylophone an the synthesizer in music anymore those instruments made music!!
Never was crazy about the song, but I've always thought that vibraphone solo was brilliant.
LOL I wrote the name of this song while it was playing on the radio at work....Hell yeah, I LOVE IT...!!!!
@kd4rnc I like FALLIN IN LOVE -- the harp is fabulous! Another instrument you rarely hear in pop/rock. Thanks for mentioning it -- Im gonna listen to it now.
Such Moogaliciousness!
That Burt Reynolds is one multifaceted entertainer !
The drummer seems to be very happy. LOL. Great song.
Man, I LOVED this tune the 1st time I heard it! Could never remember who did it till I got a AM GOLD collection 15yrs ago...downloaded it into my computer & have had many a night with that playing over & over again! Bummer my computer got fried... Southern band that made it big before the rest of the gang but never sounded like prototypical Southern Rock. Profoundly original tune!
Thanks for sharing, I was just jonesing for this!
Peace!
Thanks for sharing
I love this tune.
We were stylin'
god help me...open shirts...zodiac necklaces...polyester....but this was before disco...plus one of rare hit songs with xylophone
These guys toured with SIX Minimoogs on stage!
The Psychadelic 70's
Funky 70's with bell bottom pants, satin shirts, platform shoes....lol...
I was 24, also. born when Harry Truman was still president and before these guys got into the coffee business
he looks like he should be in the 80s
good gob!
That was the most macho xlophone player I have ever seen. Perhaps the only one... but it sounded pretty damn good.
Ace song remember it when it came out
@MrKidder37 HA ha! My mom had a 1972 red Pinto and the same songs were on during that time period, this being of them.
@trublu71 That xylophone is bad as shit...and hard as hell to play. Awesome song!!!!
I'll keep watching continuously until view counter reaches 50,000
Perhaps the only rock song to feature a xylophone solo!
This was a great song and was definitely keyboard based with a touch of synthesizer and was not a typical southern rock song. And sometimes it's hard too remember band names and songs. And You tube is great for helping people rediscover songs from the past. I always loved a song called "NICOLE". and never knew the artist until I checked on you tube and discovered the band Point Blank. Check-em -out....
@FrederickHamilton If I had to bet, I'd say he's playing Caribbean drums in Jamaica and smokin some good stuff.
Oh god...I was 24 when this song came out. (OK, I admit it). You look back and see videos like this and think, "...HOW in the world did we actually think we looked hot???" lol. Still, I LIKED the song then. I still like it, in a weird kind of way; except the lead singers laughs during the song are kind of creepy. And, GOD, that thing on his head. The drummer was sure happy though. How time flies. At one point in my life, I really thought I'd be 19 forever. : /
I heard this in a strack van til lol
HAAA ! That woulda been Perfect !
@trublu71 That xylophone is a marimba, but you are right!
my brother Gabriel died of cancer in 95' , this was one of his fave songs and it brings good memories back to me..
