    UPDATE: Someone kindly pointed out that Ortlieb has an adapter to help with angled fork mounts. Super cool! I haven't used them myself yet but plan to get a set and will leave the link here in case anyone is in a similar boat :)

    Excellent review. I think you have me sold. Ortlieb show support this video in some capacity.

    I've been running these for the last two years and have no complaints. I usually have my tarp, rain gear, a hammock in one and the other I have a med kit, puffy coat, and my toiletries. A great set of bags for various uses.

    Very good review! You demonstrate and give good points. Especially I like, that it is a LONGTERM Review from your Experience and not just some unboxing / first impression - video....

    I really like to watch your videos, clear, simple and complete infos. Once in Cuba I want to give my old bike and then back to Quebec, buy another one and I will buy only Ortlieb's equipment as yours. Thank you again.

    I have all my bike tools, spare tube etc in one and my valuables, phone, bike lock keys etc in the other. It’s great if you stop at a cafe or something, I can just grab the valuables one and can leave everything else attached to the bike.

      Great idea! I’m always concerned when I stop having to think about OK what do I grab my phone my keys my wallet having everything in a bag that can quickly be accessed and obviously from the video is just a click away from removal from the bike is a perfect solution. Thanks so much.!

    Thanks for the review. If you do want to sit the bag at a different angle, I think Ortlieb makes an adaptor to change it from 45º to 30º.

    Hi Sheelagh, I've been trying out different gloves for long-distance riding but haven't found the perfect solution yet. Which gloves do you find best for multi-day bike rides? Do you wear gloves every day on your tour or do you also do glove-free days?

    • @SheelaghDaly
      @SheelaghDaly  Рік тому +2

      On bike trips I almost always wear padded fingerless gloves and then I also carry padded “cold weather” puffy gloves for cold weather days. I like that the pad helps absorb a bit of the road vibration and I prefer having something on my hands in case I fall. Hope that helps!

    I have a nutrition question for you. What do you think of Celtic sea salt on bicycle touring? Thank you.

    They are great but mine rattle when going over rough ground for some reason.

      That’s annoying! Maybe reach out to ortlieb in case it’s a warranty issue? Mine don’t make a sound!

    I just got a pair of Ortlieb 4.1L Fork Packs yesterday. I plan on mounting them on my KHS Grit 440, see that you have virtually the same bike. I only have two mounts of each fork blade instead of the three that the mounting plate has. My question is, do you have three on your bike or if you also have only two, those two are enough?

    • @SheelaghDaly
      @SheelaghDaly  7 місяців тому +1

      I just mounted them on two mounts each and that’s been enough for me. Have a look at the instructions though, from what I remember they were pretty detailed to cover different set ups :)

    dem ortileb handle bar bags ain't all that good. They are way over priced like a 100 dollars, and the thing i don't like about them is the ride up to high on da bike blocking your view of your front tire and you cant mount lights on the handle bar either. it blocks them. even with a handle bar extention its up to high. so i like the cheap amazon handle bar bags that do the same thing but ride a lot lower, but they sag some. i'll use the cheap bags that are warter proof and have an insulated lining in them for snacks and drinks or beer. can put a cup of ice in there too. comes with a map case up front to. i can mount handle bar lights without blocking the view. just saying!! However, i do like the way you have your bike loaded. I load mine very similar!! thanks for sharing!!
