My hair is just little too short but I found that if I leave a portion of my hair out of the twist, then I can use that section to wrap around the base of the "ponytail" and that works for me.
Yens it does take time haha, I remember I had to do it 20 times in a row before I could do it properly and still it was a bit messy... But it's super useful and you can do it really quickly! No problem hunny, I'm glad if I can help

This is often called a classic Indian bun. Pull the tail through the loop before winding around the base and you have a classic Indian knot bun.
