He's going to have to confront his mom whether he likes it or not.
None of y’all thinking of Spinel? Cant remember who but in once of the episodes somebody literally tells Steven how he’s feeling, “You feel as if friends are drifting away.”
Steven had already been "corrupted" twice before. In that cat episode and the one when he rapidly aged and almost killed himself. His body even morphed when he was training with jasper. So what'll happen if something extremely traumatizing happens and Steven has a mindset that he is a monster?
Oh no poor Steven! I was afraid this was going to happen ever since I saw Zamber’s trailer reaction not too long ago. By the way on a sidenote isn’t it interesting that if this worm creature is indeed Steven that it bears an eerie resemblance to that Caterpillar themed sleeping bag that he’s slept in previously. I don’t know if it was an intentional foreshadowing but intentional or not, it really puts that scene into a whole new perspective!
It seems like we're getting that rejection in the next four episodes- the titles are out (on the CN schedule archive twitter) with no descriptions, and the episode I'm talking about is called "Together Forever." Right after that episode is one titled "growing pains"... for having 10 episodes left, it's too early to think that's corruption; I seriously think that ones just going to be Steven having a long-lasting panic attack in the woods. Yknow who else "Together Forever" could be talking about though? Steven and his gem half is one potential option
Nona Wax I think that Growing Pains may be corruption starting, but Steven not noticing? Like thinking it’s just acne or something and covering it up, all the while it gets worse through the episodes? Idk, it would work because he’s at that time?
We also have to think of the gems as what they were confirmed to be, technology. Machines, sentient and emotional ones. If we imagine them as files and algorithms, it's clear corruption renders their ""files"" unusable, and this explains how corruption spreads, and why they have physical scars. You can't fully recover a damaged hard drive, after all. It also complements this theory. If gems are sentimental machines, it means that her emotions affect how they work. That explains why their corruption worsens or gets better depending on their mental state, and why a gem poofs from extreme emotions like an overload of some sorts in their system.
@@METEORBELT Yeah, something like that. At least how it works and spreads. Because the series also tells us corrupted gems have a "tear on their minds". So Corruption has both aspects involved.
Ahh, absolutely lovely video! Thank you for giving such a balanced and logically sound take on this theory. And also- (this is novantinuum's UA-cam)- thank you for giving credit for the facial structure similarities image. I don't often receive that kinda respect from people, so it's appreciated.
It’s crazy how spot on all these theories were. I’m late to the fandom, my roommates would play the music and I got into the music itself. Then I binged the whole series and movie during quarantine and WHEEEEEEEWW the amount of tears and trauma I felt
This video is super well informed and insightful, I absolutely love it, but hearing all this I think it finally hit home how serious Steven's situation is. I always knew it was serious, but also seeing all these traumatic events from his childhood is truly frightening and sad. He lost so much of his childhood to the war that his own mom started, the mother that gems won't stop comparing him to.
It could be something telling us that rose is trying to get in control but Steven is suffering and this could affect what would happen to him and when rose gets almost in control with both of them in the same body they suffer and somehow corrupt
I was completely blown away by the finale, and I hadn't even thought about wormy boy being a corruption of steven done to himself. The epilogue had amazing foreshadowing and signs looking back on it now that I've watched all of it, but I had no idea what was coming. Things just kept getting worse and worse for steven, and the more he didn't face his own problems, the harder it got. This video gives a great breakdown, and shows much of what the finale ends up confirming.
You know what would be super sad if the entire corruption thing is true and might happen? if in the middle of corruption Steven starts crying and asking for the gems help while garnet is holding back pearl, lapis, peridot, and amethyst, and garnet is starting to cry as she watches steven get corrupted. Then when the spikes start coming out of his back all of the sound goes away and the extended version of we are the crystal gems starts to play and it goes slow motion but its only the kid steven part. And it just cuts to steven struggling to fight back the corruption like on the ground and stuff and then it cuts to all of the gems crying at the sight of steven corrupting and the are all trying to fight back garnet.
arden There is a chance some people might lie to get attention. People like that exist, if I’ve learned anything from those constant comments I’ve seen.
We’ve seen what happens when a gem corrupts. Imagine what a half human half diamond hybrid would corrupt into. The power it can hold and the destruction it can do.
Pele Flypotato I don’t think the show would go so dark that Greg dies, and stays dead. Yes, the show would kill people, like they did with Lars, but they would bring them back to life, like they did with Lars.
I feel like it would be a good route to go down since Steven is always worried and saving other gems because he cares so much about them and now it's his turn to be saved from his own worries and his own trauma if that's the route they're going down.
Also, this could be a visual cue to Steven's corruption. The Worm is the only one that moves in the intro versus all the other enemies. What a way to draw the eye there.
I love how Steven universe explores trauma damage in a way that children and young people can easily understand. Even though volleyball wasn’t physically hurt by pink diamond just being in that unstable environment caused her trauma.
I've always imagined that Steven would Corrupt himself because of him having a lack of control over his new powers, and how they'd connect to his lack of control of his emotions(as well as his lack of control of his mental state) (Also God dang it, I'm getting anxiety from this theory the more and more it looks like it's gonna become true!) Edit: Oh Dear God Did everyone See the Final Episode Titles get confirmed?!? (you'll know why this is concerning if you've seen one of them) Edit Two: OMG DID YA'LL SEE THE EPISODE GROWING PAINS?!?!😖😖😖 Edit three: GUYS!!!!! DID YA'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENED IN THE FINAL 3 EPISODES?!?!?!??!
i feel like no one is taking in that su is half gem and half human, so even if he were to be corrupted, he would still have human traits instead of becoming a full on a animal-like gem with no ways in communication.
bryan diaz varela i mean, as we see other corrupted beasts like the one jasper fused with while fighting amethyst and Steven, that beat didn’t have any clothes on and from the thumbnail that corrupted Steven theory i believe awfully would look like/have the same concept as the regular corrupted beats.
I mean, every episode, Steven gets more and more violent. He literally became W O K E and shattered jasper. It would make sense for Steven to be corrupted due to trauma.
14:01 I don't think it's him I think he'll just straight up die by the end of the show. I think it'll end with it cutting to his grave next to Greg's with one of the gems shadows over it, maybe even Rose's.

I'm officially on the fence with this but at the same time this video makes me want to lean onto the "Steven's getting corrupted" side. You brought up strong asf points and I also can't figure out what else could make that worm unless he decided to take care of insects and accidentally spit on a worm. Or accidentally killed a worm and tried to Revive it using his healing spit. OK thanks
I just think it’s kind of ridiculous how much people are arguing about a question that’s literally going to be answered in a couple weeks’ time. If you’re right about the theory being true or false, you’re right; if you’re wrong, you’re wrong. Simple as that. There’s nothing wrong with theorizing, but the fact that people’s passion for this theory has escalated to the point where it can be called “divisive,” when the actual truth is going to be revealed so soon, is kind of absurd to me.
Steven doesnt even need to corrupt to become wormyboi. We see all the way back in like s1, through the episode ‘so many birthdays’ that steven can shapeshift against his will according to his mental state and self image. If steven starts to believe he’s responsible for all these new problems and cant fix them, then he may view himself as a monster. He don’t even need corruption to reflect his mindset there.
Honestly steven handled a lot of things very well because he didn't think about it.He was trying to keep himself in check and now steven has had time to think about it and realizes how bad his childhood really was.(reply back when you get the chance pls.)
The corruption also failed to affect Lapis, but she wasn’t being protected. Her gem was lying right by the galaxy warp. Does being poofed alone protect the gem, and if so, does that mean there could be more gems who survived the corruption?
Well, during the evacuation of the earth colony lapis was stepped on/cracked by a fleeing gem passing by and was placed into a mirror by the surviving homeworld gems left behind (who weren't corrupted by them),thinking she was with the rebels (Crystal gems)-but I can guess that if they were poofed and bubbled Pre-Corruption (preferably as POWS/Prisoners of war and/or their gems were left behind after their physical forms were destroyed, but the gem itself was still intact when Rose-A.K.A Pink diamond-Pearl and Garnet, and possibly a young amethyst in tow had found them post-war..),let alone _AMETHYST being one of the BIGGEST examples of a post-war/Gem corruption surviour_ on earth,although..it's somewhat possible there to be uncorrputed gems left behind on earth,more-or-so less, then apparently..?!
Amazing vid. It makes me super sad. But all your theories seem totally right. Poor Steven. 😢 This is one of the best shows to ever exist and I’ll always love it no matter how it ends.
Another fact about corruption; It is a way a gem's gem keeps its physical form without poofing, even when needing to. So it just resorts to corruption because the form of a gem cannot handle refusing to poof. And about the Corrupted!Steven theory, when a gem is feeling an extremely high amount of emotion(s), it will poof, however, Steven cannot poof due to him being half human, so when he is feeling a high amount of emotions, for example stress, a normal gem would poof. But he is half human so his body just corrupts. (Sorry for the long comment, but those are just my thoughts c:)
Very cool analysis, but I feel like the your Sneople idea falls through because Wormy Boi isn’t a worm at all. When he stands up in the intro you can see part of his right shoulder, so we know that he’s got limbs.
When centi was partially healed she stayed in that form until she felt extreme emotion from remembering the corruption song. Perhaps this could happen to any scarred gems from the healing of the corruption
If steven gets corrupted he would possibly die since he is half human he could possibly die, the corruption would be ripping through *******HUMAN******** ******FLESH****** he would break bones and most likely bleed and die . But i dont think rebbeca would kill him though.
Looking back on this, ive decided that there are 2 types of corruption. Body and mind. With the analogy that the gemstone is the computer of the gem, then that would make their bodies the monitor. If you hit your pc monitor, your gonna crack it right? Thats "trauma" on your monitor, same thing with pink pearl.
What we are seeing is that Steven has PTSD, he has been through a lot, and now is a full teenager. Tho I am not sure about the corruption, is a possibility.
I used to think corrupted gems was an ancient form of gem growing intelligent and changing physically over millions of years to the gems we know in the present..
In the Drill episode; as Peridot was attempting to continue to drill and maintain balance while drilling The Cluster, Steven began to hallucinate and couldn’t breathe (almost as if he was having a panic attack). It was the first time his skin began to become pink as well. I squeal (unhappily) every single time I see it when rewatching that episode because it shows the trauma got to Steven at an early age too. The poor boy was hurting so much and even though he told everyone he was ‘fine’, he was actually scared.
I watched this after the show ended and I went OMG SHE WAS RIGHT I shall now believe all theorists from this point on. Still crying bout the show ending tho😔
5:45 That makes me wonder, wouldn’t she be able to be healed by the essence of all four diamonds? It healed the corrupted gems because of their broken minds, so wouldn’t it do the same for trauma? I don't know if it’d work or not, but that would have been something fun to explore.
Because it was kinda obvious. Well, besides the fact that everyone likes to call him corrupted, when in reality he just shapeshifted because he considered himself a monster. Emotional shapeshifter, remember?
Corruption is cure-able I think it may end with Steven half corrupted looking Also I think that maybe Steven should talk to peridot, spinel or lapis more since he actually had emotional conversations with them while he always just say “I’m fine don’t worry about me” to pearl, garnet, amethyst, Greg and Connie yes, Greg did comfort Steven recently but the newest episode it’s obvious Steven has mixed feelings about his dad
I think like he Might corrupted but I don’t know because there’s only 10 episodes lefty like after he corrupts is that it show over like how do know how they can do this in 10 episode maybe he gets corrupt and at like last episode he turn back to normal idk
I'm fond of him just feeling like a monster and then shapeshifting uncontrollably into one

He's going to have to confront his mom whether he likes it or not.
Or the crewniverse could do what they do with the other crystal gems. Push them to side and forget about them and only use them to jump start the plot
None of y’all thinking of Spinel? Cant remember who but in once of the episodes somebody literally tells Steven how he’s feeling, “You feel as if friends are drifting away.”
I’m actually surprised that No one other than Connie’s mother realizes he need therapy.
Steven had already been "corrupted" twice before. In that cat episode and the one when he rapidly aged and almost killed himself. His body even morphed when he was training with jasper. So what'll happen if something extremely traumatizing happens and Steven has a mindset that he is a monster?
You nailed it! Good job.
REMEMBER!: 2 weeks ago and she's talking about Steven's traumas which is literally what Connie's mom was saying in the episode growing pains
Steven shifting back and forth into a monster could've been foreshadowed in gem hunt
Dweller Of The Internet oh goodness your right.
*[What if Connie's rejection causes him to corrupt...]*
It seems like we're getting that rejection in the next four episodes- the titles are out (on the CN schedule archive twitter) with no descriptions, and the episode I'm talking about is called "Together Forever."
Right after that episode is one titled "growing pains"... for having 10 episodes left, it's too early to think that's corruption; I seriously think that ones just going to be Steven having a long-lasting panic attack in the woods.
All this trauma is causing him to corrupt. Connie rejecting him will probably be the last straw.
*WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA*
now THAT would've been awesome.
Pink possessed white diamond: Am I a joke to you!?!?
We also have to think of the gems as what they were confirmed to be, technology. Machines, sentient and emotional ones. If we imagine them as files and algorithms, it's clear corruption renders their ""files"" unusable, and this explains how corruption spreads, and why they have physical scars. You can't fully recover a damaged hard drive, after all. It also complements this theory. If gems are sentimental machines, it means that her emotions affect how they work. That explains why their corruption worsens or gets better depending on their mental state, and why a gem poofs from extreme emotions like an overload of some sorts in their system.
do you are saying corruption is literally corruption, like a corrupted file, and spreads like a literal computer virus via contact
@@METEORBELT
Yeah, something like that.
Novantinuum! Nice to see you!

@@lioncatsu The pink creature is actually a dragon, because I can see the plating on his back. And all dragons have that.
LOL!
I'm dead
And it just cuts to steven struggling to fight back the corruption like on the ground and stuff and then it cuts to all of the gems crying at the sight of steven corrupting and the are all trying to fight back garnet.
well, you werent completly wrong.
its been a year and im still awestruck on how spot-on this was
I KNOW
Steven: has ptsd and keeps his feelings to himself
Everyone: pretends they do the exact same thing
well I mean I do keep shit to myself but I don't have PTSD lol
Ribotto Studios You know what I mean. They write Steven has ptsd and then they write:
Me: same xd (or whatever)
people don’t lie about having ptsd and trauma you numbskulls
arden There is a chance some people might lie to get attention. People like that exist, if I’ve learned anything from those constant comments I’ve seen.
@@bassprogoth Yes they do, like 14 year old girls fake depression thinking it's "Cool and Edgy"
We’ve seen what happens when a gem corrupts. Imagine what a half human half diamond hybrid would corrupt into. The power it can hold and the destruction it can do.
My theory is that the last straw is Greg possibly dying and Steven not being able to revive him because he's too distressed- *boom* wormy boy.
Pele Flypotato I don’t think the show would go so dark that Greg dies, and stays dead. Yes, the show would kill people, like they did with Lars, but they would bring them back to life, like they did with Lars.
I’m really glad he mentioned a therapist in the last episode
The movie:Nothing to fear, no one to fight! :D
Steven: *Are you sure about that?*
so, kids, today we have learned a lesson:
Steven universe doesn't talk about love
𝗜𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗺𝗮.
It’s shocking how accurate these theories are
I love how Steven universe explores trauma damage in a way that children and young people can easily understand. Even though volleyball wasn’t physically hurt by pink diamond just being in that unstable environment caused her trauma.
Nobody:
Stress: *exists*
Steven: *_CHA CHA REAL SMOOTH_*
“Let’s all agree on one thing.”
*dramatic pause*
“Steven needs therapy.”
Me: AHHHHH YEEEESSSSS
Poor Little Steven🥺
I've always imagined that Steven would Corrupt himself because of him having a lack of control over his new powers, and how they'd connect to his lack of control of his emotions(as well as his lack of control of his mental state)
(Also God dang it, I'm getting anxiety from this theory the more and more it looks like it's gonna become true!)
Edit: Oh Dear God Did everyone See the Final Episode Titles get confirmed?!? (you'll know why this is concerning if you've seen one of them)
Edit Two: OMG DID YA'LL SEE THE EPISODE GROWING PAINS?!?!😖😖😖
Edit three: GUYS!!!!! DID YA'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENED IN THE FINAL 3 EPISODES?!?!?!??!

i feel like no one is taking in that su is half gem and half human, so even if he were to be corrupted, he would still have human traits instead of becoming a full on a animal-like gem with no ways in communication.
bryan diaz varela hol up
bryan diaz varela i mean, as we see other corrupted beasts like the one jasper fused with while fighting amethyst and Steven, that beat didn’t have any clothes on and from the thumbnail that corrupted Steven theory i believe awfully would look like/have the same concept as the regular corrupted beats.

Well, you were right.
Trauma did cause Steven's corruption.
But good news, he also got therapy lol
amazing stuff
I mean, every episode, Steven gets more and more violent. He literally became W O K E and shattered jasper. It would make sense for Steven to be corrupted due to trauma.
In Steven Universe :
He’s so damn friendly
In Steven Universe Future :
He’s more likely depressed I think and
Has short temper
14:01 I don't think it's him I think he'll just straight up die by the end of the show. I think it'll end with it cutting to his grave next to Greg's with one of the gems shadows over it, maybe even Rose's.
The crewniverse won’t go THAT far.

This theory was SPOT on!
So if Steven gets uncorrupted, will he have horns too?
sebastian banguis I really hope he would have horns! Cause if he did, they would probably be SUUUUUUPER tiny and that would be SOOOOOOOO cute to see Steven with tiny tiny horns!
I think rebecca mentioned that depending on how long they were corrupted determines how many corrupted features they keep. So if they find a way to fix him fast he'll probably still look normal
Theory:In "I AM MY MONSTER" Steven will be corrupted in Pink's room and it's all an illusion...
Nah
I wonder if Pink's scars could also be a metaphor for self harming, since cutting can be caused by trauma.
He can’t have therapy, he’s just try to help everyone there lol.
If you look closely, half of the “Steven is wormy boi” theories are from the round table
It wasn't corruption, it was shapeshifting. He utterly thought he was a monster so intensely that he turned into a monster.
Blue Diamond literally said 'He's.. corrupted?!'
@@MeloAvis Okay?! Yea, it was self corruption.
Let’s just hope we don’t get an ending like him dying or staying as worm boi
I'm officially on the fence with this but at the same time this video makes me want to lean onto the "Steven's getting corrupted" side.
You brought up strong asf points and I also can't figure out what else could make that worm unless he decided to take care of insects and accidentally spit on a worm. Or accidentally killed a worm and tried to Revive it using his healing spit. OK thanks
Me watching this in 2023: it’s definitely not like it’s extremely obvious or something 👀
STEVEN NEEDS Therapy
Me: Steven do the worm!
Godzilla Steven: But I have arms and legs--
Me: DO THE WORM!
Also it would give a way to satisfy the fans need for corrupto steven without leaving monster residue on his og design
Honestly steven handled a lot of things very well because he didn't think about it.He was trying to keep himself in check and now steven has had time to think about it and realizes how bad his childhood really was.(reply back when you get the chance pls.)
Goddamn this is aged very well
The corruption also failed to affect Lapis, but she wasn’t being protected.

Pearl: “STEVEN, THERE’S A SNAKE! AAAAHHHHHHH!”
Veronica Piccinini Steven: “Nevermind!”
STEVEN?YOU'RE A SNAKE
a random half- gem he doesn’t have his arms anymore 😭😭😭
If steven gets corrupted he would possibly die since he is half human he could possibly die, the corruption would be ripping through *******HUMAN********
******FLESH****** he would break bones and most likely bleed and die . But i dont think rebbeca would kill him though.
yeah but the cat shapeshifting episode debunks that though

Looking back on this, ive decided that there are 2 types of corruption. Body and mind. With the analogy that the gemstone is the computer of the gem, then that would make their bodies the monitor. If you hit your pc monitor, your gonna crack it right? Thats "trauma" on your monitor, same thing with pink pearl.
So, that's means your enemy is your own enemy?

What we are seeing is that Steven has PTSD, he has been through a lot, and now is a full teenager. Tho I am not sure about the corruption, is a possibility.
I know a ton of people are on this but I’m more half and half that wormy boi is someone else rather than steven.
I'm also not convinced that it's Steven but only time will tell
I don’t think it is him.
Its obviously kevin
I used to think corrupted gems was an ancient form of gem growing intelligent and changing physically over millions of years to the gems we know in the present..
I’m definitely gonna be crying when I watch the last episodes :’
This explains so much this is a very good vid and noticed the pattern with the snakes
This show feels more and more like therapy simulator
OOF! this aged well
5:45 That makes me wonder, wouldn’t she be able to be healed by the essence of all four diamonds? It healed the corrupted gems because of their broken minds, so wouldn’t it do the same for trauma? I don't know if it’d work or not, but that would have been something fun to explore.
Wow I dont know how so many theorists got this right
Because it was kinda obvious. Well, besides the fact that everyone likes to call him corrupted, when in reality he just shapeshifted because he considered himself a monster. Emotional shapeshifter, remember?
The best way too take care of trauma is just... FORGET ABOUT IT
That's a really good advice but you can't easily forget trauma. Trauma is hard to take care of.
Good job 👍
I will sum up Steven Universe Future in a nutshell
*Steven has PTSD*
Lmao latest episode, told just told how muh this is correct.
Corruption is cure-able I think it may end with Steven half corrupted looking
Also I think that maybe Steven should talk to peridot, spinel or lapis more since he actually had emotional conversations with them while he always just say “I’m fine don’t worry about me” to pearl, garnet, amethyst, Greg and Connie
yes, Greg did comfort Steven recently but the newest episode it’s obvious Steven has mixed feelings about his dad
