      Taemin debuted as a member of SHINee in 2008, which makes him part of 2nd generation. not "since 3 generation". And he is one of the BEST dancers of all time, it has no bearing on whether he was 1st, 2nd or 3rd generation. He is one of the top dancers when comparing him to any dancer from any generation.

    Prior to becoming a trainee at the age of 11, Taemin had no formal dance training. He started out as a self-taught popper and locker who learned to dance by copying dancers on TV, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. He said he thought dancers like Kpop solo artist Bi Rain and Michael Jackson were cool, so he would try and copy their moves. He debuted as the main dancer of SHINee in 2008 at the age of 14 -- so he had about 3 years of training as a dancer once he became a trainee.
    Therefore, most of what you see is just natural talent and an unbelievable amount of dedication. Taemin has put in a lot of effort to become the magnificent and unique performer and person that we know him as today. But there really is no one that pushes him or holds him to a higher standard than himself. He has said that he really has never taken a true vacation since he was a trainee and he doesn't know what to do if he isn't constantly working and training.
    It's said that if Taemin's dance looks easy then it's actually really difficult and if it looks extremely difficult then it's even harder than you imagine. No one moves the way he does and even his backup dancers struggle to keep up with him. Choreographers say he is constantly asking them to make the choreography more difficult and he is never satisfied until the difficulty level is off the charts.
    As Taemin has said, there has never been anything that has come easy to him and he has only gotten to where he is today because he has worked hard to accomplish everything. He is constantly pushing himself to become the best of the best in everything he does. Taemin has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance.
    The first time he says he really took a break was around 2018 when he took 3 days off, and he said he hated it. That is why you see him constantly working and churning out hit after hit. For example, Taemin spent the first half of 2020 promoting and touring with SM Entertaiment's supergroup SuperM while he was also working on his solo comeback with his Never Gonna Dance Again album trilogy -- "2 Kids," "Criminal," "Idea" and "Think of You." And then, even before he was done with his solo promotions, he started working on SHINee's "Don't Call Me" comeback, and while promoting with SHINee he also was working on SuperM's new song and MV "We Do." And without taking a break, he began preparing for SHINee's repackaged album comeback "Atlantis" and their Superstar Japanese mini album. And in between all of that, SHINee was preparing for their Beyond Live concert and their Japanese fan meeting/concert, and Taemin was also recording an OST for a drama, preparing for a Beyond Live solo concert, and working on his follow up "Advice" album and MV, etc.
    Taemin's push to cram so much into that year and a half was all in preparation for the fact that he was enlisting in the military May 30, 2021 and he would be on hiatus for 18 months -- which ended up being extended until April 2023 -- as he completed his duties to his country.
    Taemin is known for being one of the hardest working Idols in the industry. He has literally released at least one song, usually way more than just one song, every year for the past 13 years. (That is, up until his military hiatus, which forced him to take a two-year break.) He's also one of the only idols who have debuted in 3 different Kpop generations -- second generation with SHINee in 2008, third generation as a solo artist in 2014 and now fourth generation as a member of SuperM in 2019.
    You should watch some of Taemin's concert documentaries to see just how hard he trains and works. If you search UA-cam you will find 2 or 3 from his solo concerts, as well as documentaries/behind the scenes of SHINee's concerts.
    Taemin doesn't have to try to grab your attention, he just exudes command of the stage. That is what makes him one of the top performers and why he is so popular. Yes, he has literally been voted one of the top two BEST dancers in all of Kpop by his peers and industry experts. (Kai from EXO -- who happens to be Taemin's best friend since trainee days, and a fellow member of SuperM -- is the other top dancer.) That is why he has been nicknamed the Korean Michael Jackson. Literally everyone in the Kpop industry looks up to Taemin and idolizes him. He is the idol that most choreographers dream of getting the chance to work with.
    Taemin's talents are one reason why SHINee are one of the top groups in the industry and why they have such legendary status. SHINee is made up of some of the absolute best singers, dancers and performers in the entire industry. Not only is Taemin an amazing dancer but, because he is a member of SHINee, he is also a top tier vocalist, who can sing live while performing intricate choreography like this and sound even better live than the studio recording. With more than 15 years since their debut, they still command one of the top spots and are all active as a group and as soloists.
    I think "Guilty" is a continuation of the themes surrounding Taemin's previous releases. Particularly connected to his Never Gonna Dance Again album trilogy -- "2 Kids", "Criminal" and "Idea" -- and Advice album themes.
    As Taemin has explained, "Guilty" is about a lover who DOESN'T feel guilty about all the bad things they have done in the relationship and they feel no shame or remorse for the pain and suffering they may have caused the other person. Which, if you connect it to the messages from his previous MVs, this easily could be interpreted as a metaphor for everything Taemin has gone through in his career and life. As an idol, he has been manipulated and controlled his whole life. Debuting at 14 years old, Taemin has lived his entire life in the public eye under a microscope, he is expected to be flawless and perfect, and people are constantly telling him what to do and how he should act, etc. However, now that he has turned 30, I think he is embracing a new chapter in his life where he is saying he is no longer going to allow people to manipulate him and he is officially taking back control. In other words, he's not going to feel guilty any more for being himself and doing what makes him happy.
    With Taemin -- and all the members of SHINee -- you will never get the same thing twice. Everything he releases will be a new style and sound and, yet, it will still be very "Taemin". As SM Entertaiment's experimental boy group, SHINee are meant to be the first to do almost everything, and they are expected to come up with something new that no one has ever seen or heard before with every release of theirs. As Kpop's trendsetters, the members of SHINee reinvent the industry with every comeback.
    Guilty is Taemin's 4th mini Korean album, but he has been in the industry for more than 15 years as a member of SHINee and he has been a solo artist since 2014. Therefore, including his full-length albums, mini albums, and singles, etc., as well as his Japanese albums, Taemin has more than a dozen solo albums. Not to mention the 2 albums he has as a member of SuperM. And on top of all that, SHINee currently has 14 full-length Korean and Japanese albums, just as many repackaged albums, numerous mini albums, etc. You have a TON to catch up on. :D
    Now you need to check out Taemin's Killing Voice performance. I have a feeling when you watch his Killing Voice you will find that hearing him sing "Guilty," as well as his other songs, live that you will be even more impressed. Plus, you need to see one of his live performances of "Guilty" to see the complete choreography. There is a reason why Taemin is like none other.

      "Guilty is Taemin's 4th mini Korean album, but he has been in the industry for more than 15 years as a member of SHINee and he has been a solo artist since 2014. Therefore, including his full-length albums, mini albums, and singles, etc., as well as his Japanese albums, Taemin has more than a dozen solo albums. Awesome, thank you, Taemin is art 💜 Hopefully there will be a dance practice and a performance video for this song, plus a video where he explains his narrative. He grew up in the industry and is only getting better and stronger. Kasper released a video showing the choreography but I'm sure the other parts, like the hands you mentioned, were added by Taemin the director. Taemin adds his artistic touch to every project, and the concepts are multilayered. He brings philosophy, literature, and religious symbolism to his work. (For Guilty, he mentioned being inspired by Georges Bataille's Eroticism and Demian by Hermann Hesse.) Since you don't know much about Taemin yet, he debuted at age 14 with SHINee in 2008 and began his solo career in 2014. I would start with his iconic debut pieces, Ace and Danger and move forward in time. You will not be disappointed 💜 Some of my faves include ms, performance videos, live stages, and dance practices: Mars, Heaven, Black Rose, Thirsty, Under My Skin, Want, Famous, Just Me and You, 2Kids, Criminal, IDEA, Advice, Sayonara Hitori, and more. His dancers are always an extension of Taemin and it's great how he featured them so much in this mv. SHINee Members are each accomplished soloists as well. Some of my faves: Odd Eye, Evil, View, Sherlock, Lucifer, Symptoms, Excuse Me Miss, and so much more. Enjoy your journey!

    💎 What can we say other than THE KING IS BACK!? I absolutely love how deep Taemin’s songs and MVs are…they aren’t just entertainment or for clicks/views, but he tells a story. He wants to make people THINK and question and reflect. This isn’t something one can watch and then move on. His concepts are intellectual and personal.
    💎 Regarding the song itself, his haunting whispers with the beautiful runs on top give me chills…the rap section was unexpected, but fit perfectly and suited the song more than I’d have imagined. I loved how the song switched gears in unexpected ways…there are certain formulas that most kpop songs follow, but this moved in ways I’d never imagined it would and it’s perfect.
    💎 As far as the choreography…holy freaking moly. I KNEW it would blow my mind…of course it would-it’s Taemin! With that said, I can’t help but wonder if this isn’t some of his best work to date. It’s provocative without being slutty. Not only that, but you can SEE him being jerked around without any hands on him at all. Around the tenth time watching the video, I happened to notice some of what the background dancers were doing (it’s hard to peel my eyes from Taemin!). There are some genius moves that add to the overall look of the stage…some possibly inspired by breakdancing and some quite acrobatic. I can’t wait to see how it plays out on stage!
    💎 All I can really say besides the King has returned is, if loving Taemin is a crime,
    I’m “G-U-I-L-T-Y … Who's gonna punish me?” 💎
    Some background info on our KING: Taemin became a trainee under SM at age 11 as a self-taught dancer. He was one of three selected out of thousands the day he auditioned, but he caught their eye with his pop-locking skills, the fact he crossed the line when he wasn’t supposed to (on purpose), and his cheekiness. Though he didn’t feel ready, he debuted with SHINee as the maknae (youngest member) and main dancer at age 14.
    Though he didn’t get any vocal lines at first (many stated he was tone-deaf, but he was going through puberty), Taemin worked his butt off to improve-so much so he was getting frequent nosebleeds and passed out a few times. His hyungs (basically a term for older “brothers”/close males) helped him develop his voice, especially Onew (Leader of SHINee and also helped coach SM trainees) and Jonghyun (widely regarded as the best vocalist of KPOP), to the point he was the first SM idol to go solo whilst active in his group (2014, at 21 years old). He’s now known for being an exceptional vocalist and is a main vocalist for SHINee and SuperM.
    In 2014, Taemin had his solo debut (the first artist to ever do so while also active in a group) as the ACE of SM Entertainment (the best of the best in all areas)-Ace is the name of his first solo album and he was the first to receive that title. Now he has gained even more titles: he is the Idols’ Idol (most idols today will say the reason they became an idol and the person they most look up to/aspire to be is Taemin and/or SHINee), he is also a Prince of KPOP (which is a title granted to SHINee), Golden Maknae of SM that’s talented in all areas (besides the fact everyone loves him-not only is he talented, but he’s a wonderful human), Legendary Solo Man (역솔남-near as I can tell, it’s a title bestowed on those similar to “Diva”, given to artists such as Aretha, Dolly, Cher, etc), 탬또롤 (Taemddorol, meaning 'Taemin, once again, a role model'), and the Michael Jackson of South Korea (he’s also known as one of the best dancers in South Korea, if not the best). His backup dance teams are the best in the business and are comprised of multiple famous choreographers (with that said, it’s still difficult (if not impossible) to see anyone BUT Taemin when he’s dancing). It’s no surprise that he’s very well-respected amongst choreographers: his friend (infamous choreographer) Koharu Sugawara nicknamed him “Dancer Killer”.
    In 2019, SM collaborated with Capitol Records, USA, and assembled a group of seven of the best artists in KPOP to debut in the USA: SuperM. In fact, they even collaborated with Marvel after having been dubbed the Avengers of KPOP. Of course, Taemin was the first chosen and helped pick the other six members. Though not the eldest member, he is the senior member of the group due to the length of time he’s been in the industry. As such, he would have been leader, but he deferred that task to Baekhyun of the group EXO (who’s slightly older than Taemin). Taemin has been the maknae of SHINee his entire career and didn’t feel he would be best suited to lead the others. However, he is the center of the group and they ALL (including Baekhyun) defer to his experience and take his advice to heart. He is very caring towards his dongsaengs (juniors) and was nicknamed Taemresa (inspired by Mother Teresa). Baekhyun is an incredible leader, by the way…don’t want anyone to misunderstand my intentions behind what I’ve said.
    With the debut in SuperM, Taemin became the first idol to ever debut in three generations: 2nd with SHINee, 3rd as a solo artist, and 4th Gen with SuperM. The second (and only other) artist to achieve this did so a year ago, Taeyeon of Girls Generation.

      Taemin recently discharged from his mandatory military service 04 Apr 2023. Taemin is one of the most active members on SNS: he messages on Bubble (text, pix, and voice…including him playing piano and singing to us), frequently goes live on IG, posts pics, and resumed his unofficial job of SHINee’s Spoiler Fairy. He’s also the member who mostly treats his fans like we’re in a parasocial relationship-acting and talking as though we’re his significant other.
      Taeminnie calls his fans Jjakgoongs (a name meaning best friends/buddies/partners) and Taemints (Taemints being the name of his Shawol fans, based on the fact SHINee was a total secret and not marketed at all before their debut so Taemin would hand out mints and candies to tempt people to listen to their music and attend their debut-which not even their families were aware they were debuting until they were on stage in front of them).
      Another important thing to know regarding Taemin has to do with his beloved hyung, Jonghyun, whom we tragically lost in 2017. Jonghyun was Taemin’s biggest fan and supporter, even rescheduling his own concert to attend Taemin’s. They were inseparable. Considering SHINee was back on the stage less than two months after his passing, the group did not have very long to grieve. (They returned after much consideration and at the behest of Jjong’s mom and sister.) Taemin is a well-known workaholic…he never takes breaks and hasn’t since he was a child. He’s in the studio every single day-not even taking off for Christmas. In fact, he went live on the day of his military discharge from the practice room and was renting dance studios while he was enlisted because he HAS to dance…it’s part of him. His jump from nonstop working and perfecting his abilities into military life, plus dealing with depression and anxiety, truly hit him hard. Thankfully, he appears to be doing much better now. He looks and sounds happy and healthy, which is honestly all I could ever hope for.
      Taemin and SHINee are all fluent in Japanese and release just as many Japanese albums as Korean. They are so popular in Japan, many do not consider them foreign artists (which is testament to the love and respect the Japanese people have for them). They even have an entirely separate crew of dancers and staff in Japan. Most artists have to request to hold concerts at Tokyo Dome (it’s an unspoken rule you need to be able to sell out the 55,000-seat arena to perform), but they actually reach out and request SHINee and Taemin because they know they’ll sell out in seconds (whether as a group or Taemin as a solo artist) and have to host multiple days to accommodate. The guys host the entire concert in Japanese and do not need translators.
      I mentioned SHINee being trendsetters-that includes Taemin, of course. Besides introducing new music styles and breaking boundaries with his concepts, he has also worked to break other boundaries, as well. Early in his career, SM took advantage of his prettiness and exaggerated it-he was often mistaken as a female (especially during the long-hair era) and would frequently clear his throat to “discreetly” let others know he’s male. He absolutely hated it, and understandably so-he was a teenager. Later, he embraced some of the socially-viewed “feminine” qualities and has worked hard to showcase that music has no gender.
      Taemin made waves with his song, “Move”, which he performs with his Girl Gang (all-female backup dancers). The choreography blends masculine and feminine energy like no one but Taemin can do (so many tried to imitate it, it was dubbed “Move Disease”, but none come close). He also lends that androgynous aspect to his fashion choices.
      Taemin has many facets to him-when the camera is on (filming MVs, music shows, etc), he is a true professional. With his SHINee hyungs, he’s a mischievous crackhead who lives to torment them. They raised him, so they spoil him, but don’t misunderstand-his love for them is unmatched and it goes both ways. With SuperM, he’s silly, but caring-he took them under his wings and is their mentor. He also has his Padding Squad (friend group consisting of Kai from EXO, Jimin from BTS, Ravi from VIXX, Timoteo of HotShot, WannaOne/HotShot’s Sungwoon, and a non-celebrity friend). They’re named the Padding Squad, or Padding Friends, because Taemin bought and designed matching customized jackets with their own unique logo.
      For me, personally, I can appreciate someone’s musical abilities…but to become a true fan (or “stan”), they have to be really special and have qualities setting them apart besides simple talent. Taemin, SHINee as a group, and the other SHINee members as soloists have my utmost devotion (they’re all five incredible soloists-in fact, SHINee is the ONLY group in which ALL members have hit #1 on the Worldwide iTunes Chart as soloists). They’re incredibly talented in ways far beyond musical abilities and are kind, fun, and caring humans.
      TAEMIN’S BACK!!! SHINee’s BACK!!! 💎

    Guilty is absolutely not choreography focused MV, it’s one of those more cinematic, storytelling videos. And here you definitely get a lot of contemporary dance inspirations, which have been Taemin’s interest for couple of years now. To really appreciate his dancing you should watch Advice, Move, Criminal and IDEA (both MVs and dance practices). I’m looking forward to your Taemin reactions!

    Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Good song. On 1st listen I felt strongly like crying. The tears were held in though the whole song though. But at the end i had to wipe my eyes. I just want to hug Taemin. On my 2nd listen i read the lyrics. And after i wondered was my reaction all in my head. There are layers here upon layers. Loved the fits and makeup. Some of the subject matter was an issue for me. I know Taemin had lots of mental health issues in the military. Based on the teasers I thought he would talk about it. And it looks like he does in his own way. I really want to hear his views on this song and album. I watched Suchwita ep. w. Taemin right after this. Glad he is back giving us headaches, lol. Perfect vocals in my opinion. The feathered headband is a Native American thing for me. I feel it has an important significance. The lyrics had nothing to do with the images in the MV. I think this is way over my head and i will watch some reactions to see what others think of Taemin's msg here. Feels based on imagery. Great choreo. Need the dance practice ASAP. =0p We got a studio choom. So u can check that out. Borahae. -NY USA 2019 Army💟
    Loved that long skirt. He looked so good, dang.
    I also was getting examination. After a few reactions i am thinking he is showing military and psych mental health area. Like a mix of places. I was thinking were ppl saying he was guilty of making them feel attracted to him? Does he feel guilty about something? Lots of thoughts going through my head. I am so glad u watched the teasers. The more i watch the more i think that he is combining the military facility with a mental health facility. And we know he suffered in the military and asked for a transfer. So it seems he is portraying his struggles here.

    I'm still confused about the exact meaning, but again, there could be different interpretations as with his other songs. But from the visuals i get the feeling it refers to abuse, it can be at so many levels. It can have psychological and physical or both, you can suffer it under your own family, friends, at school, at work, in love relationships... Then who is the perpetrator? many times you can be trapped by those people, even in a group or the society, you don't even realise but by the time you realise you have been actually abused THEY are gone, who can you blame exactly? I have gone through my own dose of abuse, and after years you realise but you end up blaming yourself too, as if you hadn't known better but then you allowed it...😢 Also the images of classroom and rooms with beds, and a kid surrounded by a group...Taemin is watching him from the door as if he was watching himself as a kid... also at the end those kids in school uniforms, all spread around, one grabbing the legs of an adult that grabs his leg, bleeding... South Korea also has buIIying as endemic.. at schools (kids also teachers committing suicide as they can't either find understanding or help by their surroundings, on the contrary they are treated as the outcast and weirdos) also at the workplace, in the Military, in university... Their social rules, their stratification and obsession with seniority, comparing their ages, wealth, possessions, their marks, everything... the social pressure on kids and in general on everyone to be better, the most xx the most xx...). The crazy mix of their traditional values and the contrast to the monstruos capitalism that devours all traditional values... traditional collectivism versus wild individualism...

    this is an amazing comeback, so artsy so taemin, shawols had lots of interesting theories, my favorite being that this is an interpretation of the struggles in military enlistment, young men being taken, examined and given a gun, i find it so fascinating
    @princesssunshine79 said on 10/31/23
    From what I have picked up here and there, I THINK, don't quote me, the song is about training at an extremely young age in a very exploitive industry, his horrible experience while doing his military service, and his own mental health. Again, I am not positive about any of this. But, for Taemin, it makes a lot of sense. Especially the last two bits because his 2 years away was a nightmare that really messed with his mental health and depression. I hope this helps a wee bit. 😁
    @sumim2192 said on 11/1/23
    Just a note, In July (I think), Taemin updated his Instagram bio with a famous quote from Hermann Hesse's famous novel Demian “The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world. The bird flies to God. That God's name is Abraxas.” I think his outfit with the feather hat represents the god Abraxas.
    @prisonbreakd said on 10/31/23
    The way he does dark concepts is so amazing to me.
    I think if you think about how guilt feels, the video/song represents it perfectly. The way he moves through the corridors and outside, and the choreography feels like he is out of control, and being suffocated by the situation, he is overwhelmed and struggling to understand up from down, invisible and visible hands push him around. You can't help but feel sad or sorry for him, despite him singing that he's done something horrible. And I think it's because, unlike in "Want", he is not proud or embracing it here; his pain, struggle and guilt are obvious. It's haunting.
    To me, the overall story of the video was that love (and life) is not always cutesy and sweet; it can come with a dark side, conflicting feelings, being intense and too much. You can do things you regret, and it can spin out of control, you can be aware of doing something wrong and not know how to stop, you can want things that are not good for you or someone that you care about. You can hurt people and be aware of what you are doing but not know how to do it better. You can love the wrong people, make mistakes and feel... well, guilty. It's just a very painful side of human experience that we don't like to look at because guilt and shame go together and make us very uneasy.

    9:55 Yep. Rian, Simeez, Noze and Rozalin. They’ve been Taemin’s backup dancers since Criminal.
    Also here is Suzy Hong and Kim Haeun.
    Only the best of the best for Taemin.
    @lunemaline1338 said on 10/31/23
    Taemin has spoken before how he regrets debuting so young in a very exploitative industry, that mixed with how hard his military enlistment period was for his mental health I see this being about him kinda losing his innocence and being thrown into violence. the shot of him looking at one of the dancers that kinda looks like a younger version of him having fun with everyone else to him being in this medical room and being moved like a puppet, forced to hold a gun and being stripped of his individuality by wearing this school uniform. That’s what I love about Taemin’s music and MV’s it starts to make you think and theorize, he’s super creative.
    @schuylernefcy3466 said on 10/31/23
    Other note, It's like Taemin is singing the part of the abuser and dancing the part of the abused and I can't believe how hauntingly beautiful it is.
    @bea_hae_tae9392 said on 11/3/23
    Taemin has talked about the literature that inspired this concept: Erotism: Death and Sensuality by Georges Bataille and Demian by Hermann Hesse.
    Love that Taemin decided to do things his own way with his own colors. I don't see anyone else doing this concept, or even the way in which he does it. Just stunning! Great reaction, thanks for giving so much love to his work.
