    Intuitive eating fails when your body's intuition is off. An alcoholic can't intuitively stop drinking at a sensible point any more than a person addicted to food can intuit the right things or amounts to eat.

      This, in spades! I have stage 4 endometriosis. I've been able to help it a lot with a whole food vegan diet with minimally processed food (don't get me wrong - pizza and beer nights are a must sometimes 😉), but since my body is still a wonky hormone factory, there are times when I'm never hungry and times when I can easily eat twice the calories I need. Hunger signals, leptin and ghrelin can be fucky and yeah, intuitive eating doesn't always work and for a myriad of other reasons - disordered eating, chronic health issues, what have you.

    I began watching Abbey about a year ago and I quickly began to catch on to everything she would comment about on other people's diets. As a person recovering from an ED, I enjoyed her taking people's meals and expanding on them by recommending certain proteins and what have you to boost the value of the meal. But I will say, I found some of what she said to be problematic. And she's now putting out videos about her concerns over her health and eating and I'm too scared to watch them because I don't want to feed into that (no pun intended). While I follow abbey, I'm not a "fan" and I certainly found this video to be eye-opening and confirm some of the suspicions I previously held about her channel

    I FULLY agree with you 100% of abby sharp. The constant ratio and having all 3 major nutrients in EVERY meal is honestly kind of neurotic and not intuitive. Like no abby I don't wan't to add cottage cheese and yogurt and penut butter onto my pickle snack so its more "balanced" . My brother in law explained to me that the reason veganism isn’t healthy is because fruit and veg is getting sweeter and less nutrient dense. While I agree with the sentiment i can’t reconcile it with the idea that meat is some glowing antithesis to that problem.
    Would love to hear your thoughts!

    • @unholyquail4560

      Even if you would drop 50% of the nutrients on a whole food plant based diet. You would still hit your RDA's with excessive micronutrients to spare.

    • @intothefirewellness
      @intothefirewellness 2 роки тому +5

      @Unholy Quail to elaborate further, one would need to consider your food sources and what kind of treatment was used on those veggies/fruit/grains. Most of the common issues with food absorption are due to indirect consumption of chemicals pesticides etc. Which blocks the receptors of the lower intestine and enzymatic process of the gut from functioning optimally. Close to 70% of people currently have one or more IBS related disorders because of the heavy contamination of glyphosate and other biotoxins from conventional farming. Indirect non point sources impact our health more so, consuming more fruit will not cause problems unless you have kidney, bladder or contraindications from medications (ie heart meds that become neutralized from combined use of vitamin C)

    • @robertan.2491
      @robertan.2491 2 роки тому

      Meat has every nutrient your body could possibly need, especially if eaten raw, and it gets digested by our bodies perfectly. It's the most natural way to hunt and eat the animal. Produce that has been meddled with by humans, planted in all areas of the world, and then delivered with plastic to you by air polluting vehicles...nothing natural about that, it's a complete indulgence. Both animal product and produce industries have their flaws, contaminate the products to make a bigger profit. But there is nothing wrong with either as long as you choose your sources carefully. If you're vegan, don't just feed on fruit, many other options lower in sugar. And if you're not, support local organic farmers.

      It was a clear example of an older woman feeling threatened by the beauty and health of a younger woman because she went on a weird tirade about “Oh, she can show off her body?! Well I can do that all day!”
      And then proceeded to play a several minute long montage of her own body.
      That was her only video I have ever watched and it was a mess and personally, if I was considering becoming vegan (which I am absolutely not) that video would have solidified to me that it was a no go because the community are jerks.

I'm not even a nutrition expert but I do have my nutrition coaching cert. And what I know is you need to go very neutrally and carefully with sibo. So having no dairy or inflammatory foods is essential during gut recovery. And supplementing with amino acids like L glutamine will do wonders for her lower intestine.

    Just a side note to say your hair color and style suits you so well. Handsome! 🥰 p.s. on topic though, these channels make me crazy too. What is your opinion of people who promote diets like Dr. Mark Hyman? His diet philosophy is all about spiking insulin as minimally as possible because insulin resistance is the root cause of a lot health issues. He wouldn’t promote eating a lot of fruit aside from berries because many fruits have a high glycemic index. Would you still promote a high fruit diet to someone with PCOS which is rooted in insulin resistance?

    Hmm I get your vegan but this is a bit odd to be reviewing non vegans diets and then just being like "oh no animal products!" Like of course ? They aren't vegan. They aren't even plant based so it's like didn't we expect their diet to include animal products? Idk it would be nice if the reviews were less super biased but I suppose that's impossible for anyone to do since we all have our biases based on our lifestyles. I guess I thought it was going to be more just a nutritional view not moral.

  • @SandyBee21

    Ummm..the fibre content in fruit and veg isn't as high as you seem to think it is...Dr B, the author of Fibre Fuelled speaks to this and reccs the inclusion of more wholegrains to get the requisite fibre content on the daily. Dissing her affinity with non vegan products only intensifies your personal projection and bias. Which is fine. Get it grll

    Sorry. I'm long vegetarian and willing to dabble in alt. milks especially soya for ramen an oat for porridge but genuinely prefer organic dairy. Still. I'm willing to pay a better price for it but have yet to find an alt. that matches up. And how is coconut yoghurt "better for you" than greek? I use that more than alt milks but it's nowhere near as delicious as a good greek. THAT texture, and the non-fat-free ones are nutritionally sound. Coconut yoghurt gives me wobbles on the saturated fat and lack of protein. Not that it stops me using it. But again, dairy wins for me on flavour and nutritional profile. I'll give you the darknesses behind the dairy industry. I just won't buy cheap or poor quality. But hey, I've loved yoghurt more than anything since I was a baby. You get one banana in the sweet space, it always leaves you wanting a bunch.
