Pictures of my old dog makes me incredibly nostalgic for the mid-late 2000's. Everything was just so easy and I never had to worry about things. Now I'm sure pictures of my son will snap me right back to the early days of our family.

The music of Judas Priest. (i'm old) Always brings me back to the early 80's. The greatest time. Life was just........simpler. Unlike today, staring at WW3.

I think it's honestly inevitable that we feel nostalgia because in retrospect the certainty of things that have already happened feels much more secure than the insecurity of whatever the future might bring.

I like to make a list of everything I would like to accomplish in a day and cross them off as the day goes on. Usually around 8pm I'm done and I evaluate if the day was "good." Sometimes it takes a few solid days in a row for me to reach good. But, when I do I'm able to fully enjoy some gaming or time with friends without my responsibilities weighing on me.
I don't believe you get "too old" for games. But, as an Adult finding a good game is only half the battle. The real challenge is letting yourself get invested.

I think its just games kinda suck now. At one point I was feeling the same way you did, then Persona 5 dropped while I was in college. And I had so much fun. I literally just finished all my papers for that week. Then Friday came, I ordered a pizza and just stayed in my apartment and played that all night. While I'm sure part of the detachment people start to feels towards games comes from growing up and having other shit to do or just having the freedom to explore more opportunities since you're no longer a kid. But, I don't think people ever truly stop loving things they truly enjoy. And often times when people feel disengaged with something it is because what they are doing isn't really engaging. It is part of the reason I'm not a fan of large open world games like Dying Light or any Ubisoft game. Because to me they are just go to X and collect Y. There nothing really going on in those games in my opinion. They might as well be a walking simulator.
