I was probably there! I was on first crew that opened the place in El Segundo when I was a kid. They didn't want any old movies for a new theatre, so there was probably 10 screens showing Space Jam. Then Evita opened a few weeks later. lol
The first time I visited the Lakewood Pacific Theater was for Tarzan back in 99. Harry Potter And the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 & 2 were the final times I used Pacific Theater. Nowadays I choose either AMC, Regal or Cinemark for more of the latest developments in moviegoing service and technology! The early 2010’s sure brought lots of changes. But this intro in a way has a bit of childhood nostalgia in me.
I have never been to a Pacific theater in my life and that I don’t live in states where there are Pacifics, but I feel like I’m the only one who gets the chills during the ending note. 😬😨😂
Cars was the last film I saw here before they closed. They had the biggest screens though. I remember seeing Finding Nemo, feeling like I was in the ocean because of the screen that just filled the huge wall of the theater. Good times.
When I was a young child younger than 11 living in Los Angeles I went to three Pacific Theaters in Los Angeles: two extremely local from my house in Sherman Oaks and one 30-35 minutes from my house at The Grove seeing enjoying and liking many famous popular fun memorable good family kids films aimed at young kids younger than 11 such as Pooh’s Heffalump Movie Happy Feet Shrek the Third Ratatouille Kung Fu Panda WALL-E Surf’s Up and Alvin and the Chipmunks and this logo screened before the preview trailers start
I remembered seeing this before! They showed this a lot when I was little before my nearest theatre was open (operated by UltraStar, another local chain). I still go to the theatre that shows this recently in 2004, such a shame when Reading Cinemas took over that theatre. Did they still show this since Pacific Theatres now only exists in L.A.?
In the San Diego area, most of the Pacific Theatres locations have been turned into what's now called Reading Cinemas (which I find dumb and nowhere near nostalgic as the former).
@wlb93 Yes they do, but in Commerce CA it used to be Pacific Theatres, and Its Regency Theatres now since May or April of 2011 I believe. Regency Theatres is operated by the same company of the new one.
I saw this every time I saw a movie at that particular theater, though where they placed this was usually random at best. At one time this was played first.
KobeJaxxx I used to go to one of them in Lakewood. But there used to be two theaters of the same chain in the same mall. And one of them is now a 24 hour fitness.
I saw this before a bugs life in 1998, tarzan in 1999, and snow dogs, LILO and stich in 2002, and then in 2006 before over the hedge, and lastly before Pirates who don't do anything a veggietales movie in 2008.
@ruarc2077 I remember seeing that version with the yellow "P" on a black square with a small red line on top and a big blue line on the left with "Pacific Theatres" in a black cursive font on a white cloud background. Wish that was found! BTW, Were you also the same voiceover that did the "Feature Presentation" version that reads, "Thank you for making Pacific Theatres your first choice in movie entertainment! In consideration with others, please refrain from talking?"
This is my work, VFX studio "TVART" in LA. Created in 1998 along with director Dale Herigstad, still running now, 21 years later!
It's a truly stunning logo that still stands the test of time. Although I will have to correct you, it no longer plays since late 2018.
You sir, did a wonderful job. Unfortunately, this theatre is no longer where I live.
@michael busch Its quite sad that Pacific is long gone. If I may ask, do you have the Animation to this opening?
This policy trailer has been the longest running in almost 20 years, since 1995! They even show this at Pacific Theatres Glendale 18 at the Americana.
is it still there?
Christopher K yup still there, we got a new opening policy intro, instead it’s an ocean 🌊
TCFX Where can I find it?
Joseph A. Sobora I live 20 minutes from Americana, and I want to say that this intro is no longer playing over there. It’s a brand new logo now.
@@IAMDRWSY I found that out recently, it's called "Imagination on the Pacific".
I remember seeing saw "Space Jam" at Beach Cities was the grand opening of the new movie theatres in 1996.
oh my god that couldn't have ben a more 90's comment haha

Ah! Pacific Theaters. Pretty much the main theater I've been to. But this intro is pretty cool.
KobeJaxxx
That was probably the first theater I’ve ever seen movies in before going to United Artists and AMC theaters.
KobeJaxxx I used to go to one of them in Lakewood. But there used to be two theaters of the same chain in the same mall. And one of them is now a 24 hour fitness.
